Review: My husband passed away in January, 2014, and the funeral meal was held at Walker's Maple Grove on Saturday, January 25, 2014. When making arrangements for the meal and drinks, a price of $195 was quoted for a half barrel of beer. When the bill was submitted to me (thru the funeral home), I was charged $270 for a half barrel of beer. When questioning the establishment about this price discrepancy, it was explained that the difference in price was due to the fact that beer was served by the pitcher, saying that it was cheaper to serve it by the pitcher. This was never mentioned up front when finalizing the booking. As a side note, when making this booking, a price of $2/person for soda was quoted. We paid for meals for 80 people, and the bill did reflect $160 for soda ($2/person x 80 meals). The soda price was as quoted on the contract, but the beer charge was higher than quoted. I do not believe that 80 people drank soda AND more than half a barrel of beer.

There was another funeral meal (smaller in size) in the establishment at the same time, and I am questioning how the two individual and separate functions were billed for the beer usage.Desired Settlement: A refund in the difference between the $195 quoted price and the $270 billed price, a difference of $75.

This is in response to the Sopa complaint about the price of the 1/2 barrel of beer. Walker's has 4 types of beer on tap. Two, are Miller products at $8.00 per pitcher or $195.00 per half barrel. The other two are Amber Bock and Shock Top at, $16.00 per pitcher or $300.00 per half barrel. The Sopa group drank a majority of the Amber Bock and Shock Top. Clearly, a more expensive beer. We were told tap beer and soda when the arrangements were made. There was not a specific beer ordered. We would have only served Miller products if that was clearly stated.
