Walks Moving & Storage Reviews (%countItem)

We hired Walks Moving to move us from Virginia to Altoona. They asked us some basic questions about the amount of boxes and the amount of furniture that we had as well as miscellaneous items and they quoted us a price. But as I got into packing I realized that I had more boxes than I originally thought and I started having concerns that all of my things wouldn’t fit in the truck. So I was completely up front and honest with them and took photos of everything, every room, every box, every piece of furniture. And I took a video of the contents of the garage. I texted all of the photos and video to them. They reassured me that everything would be fine and would fit so we proceeded. But they also charged us several hundred more dollars for the move because of the extra stuff, I was fine with that as long as they were able to get everything in the truck. Our moving date was a Saturday, they called me the Thursday before, asking if they could come on Friday because they were coming from Florida and it would be helpful to them. This meant that I lost a day of packing but I felt bad if they had to go the whole way to Altoona and backtrack again to Virginia so I accommodated them to be kind.. Now in all fairness I will say that they showed up almost on time and they worked fast and efficiently. They were also polite. They did drop a few of my boxes down a flight of stairs, but maybe this is a common occurrence in moves. I don’t know I’ve never been moved by a company before. As I suspected, they were unable to fit all of my stuff in the moving truck. They offered no solution to get the rest of my belongings to PA. *** and I had to make two subsequent trips to Virginia to load stuff in our truck to bring it up to Pennsylvania. I placed several calls to Walk’s to try to get this issue resolved. I didn’t think it was fair that I would pay so much extra for the move when they didn’t actually move all of the things that I paid extra for. I wanted a partial refund. I think it’s only fair. Now mind you they moved us into this house in December. It has taken me that long to receive a return call from them. I explained the situation to Gary Walk, the owner and mentioned to him that he was referred to me by some family friends. I then asked him if he knew any of my family. I told him my maiden name. He said he knew some of my family and I mentioned that those were my cousins but my father was and I said he was the guy that was in radio and television for many years. At that point the guy became irate and said that I was threatening him because I had mentioned that my father was in radio. I SWEAR to you all- I did not threatened him. I was honestly hoping that he knew my dad, and liked my dad-who passed away this past October-and that it would create good will in getting this resolved. I was in a grocery store during this call and had my 9 year old daughter with me so I didn’t get loud or raise my voice or say what I really wanted to say to him. He starter to verbally assault me - calling me a *** threw in a couple of ‘ *** you’s” and he called me a few other choice words. Then he said that he didn’t like my father, that nobody liked my father, and he didn’t give a *** about me and he would not be giving me one cent back. I have NEVER experienced such unprofessional behavior from someone. EVER. . And before he hung up he called me a *** When somebody, who is supposed to be professional and is the owner of a company makes accusations like that and proceeds to call me names as well as saying things about my dead father. I had to say something.Although I would like to have a partial refund. I don’t expect that that will happen. What I really would like to happen is that the owner would become a better person that he would learn from this experience, that he would treat people better. And learn how to handle customer service situations better. I don’t want to see anybody else treated like this.

The driver did call and ask if they could load any earlier, which all moving companies do if they are ahead of schedule. If the customer is not ready simply say "no, please keep the scheduled date." I highlighted where *** wrote "This means I lost a day of packing." Everything was removed except items that we do not accept, like miscellaneous items laying around that is not properly packed. For example: lamps, dishes, pictures, mirrors, etc. These were the only items left behind and the driver explained to *** that we cannot safely transport these items. The driver did a walk-through of the house with the customer and the customer signed the paper acknowledging she did a walk-through. To just defend myself, this has nothing to do with this in the customer's letter, she states I used a few choice words and in response of that I included a copy of statements made on Facebook. Thanks

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This is my response to the company’s response of my original complaint ID-*** point is redundant. I had already explained as to why I didn’t say ‘no’. And the fact still remains that I lost a day of packing.-Because I had agreed to allow them to come a day early, they AGREED to take items like, lamps, pictured, mirrors AND THEY DID TAKE ALL OF THOSE ITEMS. The items left were the items in the garage that I sent them a VIDEO of. Gary JR assured me upon arrival that he was sure everything would fit and it didn’t. He offered NO solution and was evasive when asked.

-We did a walk thru of the house and signed the paper because at that point they had all of our possessions in their truck and you feel like like a hostage at that point, BUT we verbally asked what they would do about all of the stuff left and Gary JR shrugged his shoulders and drove away.-The last paragraph references a comment that I made on a Facebook post of my experience with Walk’s Moving about a cage fight with my husband which was an obvious joke (see laughing emojis) to anyone who has half a brain and was slight in comparison to what was said to me.I have heard from others who are former customer’s of Walk’s moving and I have read other reviews left online and unfortunately *** verbally abusive behavior is typical. This company should not be permitted to operate if they continue to verbally assault people.Warm Regards
