Wall To Wall Carpet One Reviews (2)

Review: Flooring installation was done improperly. We had a 3 foot buldge in living room and small bumps all down the hall and several in the living room. Commercial vinyl trim was applied with glue rather than putting back our old trim which created a huge mess. Flooring around toilet was installed wrong causing a problem for the plumber. Due to all the issues that occurred when we noticed the buldge and the bumps we were told the same installer was the only one that could fix the problem. We were uneasy with this. After letting him back to the house several times with no solution to the problem (March 14 was the date of expected completion and we gave him to April 26) we hired someone else. The other person came to the house and after 2 minutes literally figured out the large bump was due to they didn't staple one sheet of the OSB down and the bumps all over were imperfections in the OSB that should have been scraped off. He removed all the flooring in the living room leading to the buldge due to the type of flooring this is necessary. He fixed the problem and reapplied new flooring. This was all done within 1 week. We didn't fix the bumps in the hall because it would require removing the toilet and the washer and dryer. I am ill and don't have time for this so we are living with the bumps. It looks bad.Desired Settlement: We would like our money returned for the living room and at least half for the hallway that looks bad. We would also like our contractor to be paid for the trim work that had to be done to fix the mess they created when they glued the commercial trim back on.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Received check in mail for "adjustment" for flooring today. Wall to Wall will come to pick up boxes of used flooring from my garage. This should end our nine week nightmare. Thank you for your help! Sincerely, [redacted]

Review: When we first started doing business with Wall to Wall we were considering doing our flooring. We decided that our bathroom was first priority and spoke with Chad about doing our shower. After he gave us an estimate we knew we could afford a little more so we spoke with Chad about doing half of our bathroom with tiling above the tiling that was already in our bathroom. We originally had picked a tile that was around $3 per square and asked Chad to quote us what it would cost to do only above our tile in our bathroom. We got this quote back and were told it would cost around $2,500 to do the half. After we got the quote back for the half the bathroom we measured our entire bathroom not excluding our window and rounded up our measurements to 200 square feet. After this we went in to talk to Chad and switched to a tile that was under $2 per square and Chad came back to redo our measurements. When he came to our house we told him the old tiles would need to be removed and we wanted new tiling there. Chad then pointed to the tiles and said if we remove these we will need new green board and we told him that was fine. When Chad called us back and he told us it would be just over 200 square feet to do our ENTIRE bathroom and the floor we agreed to a price that was just over $2,800. When my boyfriend went to sign the invoice and pay half, Chad told him that we were only doing from the tiles up and that I had told him that (which was completely inaccurate, I verified with Chad that we were doing the ENTIRE bathroom) but since the invoice said there was about 230 squares ordered we knew we had the correct amount needed based upon our measurements and what Chad told us he measured. Chad and I also discussed that the trim around the window would be taken off and there would only be tile there and there would be a border of darker tiles where the wall meets the ceiling. After we signed the contract and paid half the invoice, Chad told us we were scheduled for June 8th, mind you we signed the invoice on May 21st. We never heard anything in between there about a time the installer would be coming so the first week of June I called Wall to Wall to see what time the installer was coming on June 8th. I was told there was no install scheduled and that there was nobody available June 8th anymore, they could start June 12th but they don't work weekends so we would be out of a bathroom for at least six days. I scheduled the install for June 16th and was told it could take the 16th, 17th, and 18th to get this done, I said that was fine. We were having trouble removing the toilet on June 15th so I called Wall to Wall only to find out they messed up the scheduling again and that it was now scheduled for the 17th. When the installer came on the 17th, we were both at work and were not contacted by them at all, I called Wall to Wall to see when the installer would be there and they told me they didn't know but it should be soon and that was the best answer I could get. I went home at 2:30 that day and saw that the installers had installed tile around the trim of my window (that was supposed to be removed), there was no border where the wall met the ceiling (which Chad admitted to not telling them about), and the tile was going on above the old tile that was supposed to be taken off. I immediately called Chad and told him what was wrong and he said that he would come to my house in a little bit and talk to the installer. I told the installer he was coming and that they could wait in the house. I spoke with Chad later that evening to make sure we had everything fixed and he told me he showed up at my house at 4p.m. and the installer was gone (when at 2:30 he told me he was coming to the house in a little bit, I di not consider 1.5 hours a little bit). So we spoke with Chad and told him everything that was wrong and what was supposed to happen and he gave us no argument just told me that he would talk to the installer tomorrow. Then on the 18th Chad said he was calling the installer and the installer was not answering. Finally my boyfriend, Chad, and the installer met at my house and my boyfriend was told that if we want the old tile removed we need to pay for it or do it ourselves. I then decided to finally call the owner and when I explained this to him he said he already looked at my invoice and there was no way that the squares ordered was enough for our entire bathroom. The owner insisted Chad had no idea that we were doing our ENTIRE bathroom and tearing out the old tile. The owner constantly told me what I was saying wasn't making sense to him and that what I'm saying just isn't adding up, he also was raising his voice, cutting me off, and talking over me (worst experience with a business owner that I have ever had). So on the 18th absolutely nothing got done, nothing was taken down that was wrong and nothing was put up. Today is the 19th and the installer has not been to our house, Chad is insisting that we need to pay for the tiles to be removed or do it ourselves and the owner is on vacation. The owner left me a voicemail on my work phone after I left on the 18th saying that on the invoice it specifically says remove floor tile and is signed by Brady but mentioned absolutely nothing else about any other issue we are having with this. Now we are stuck with a gutted bathroom, wrong tile cemented to our wall, and a company that has been extremely rude and ungrateful for our business.Desired Settlement: I would like the incorrect tiling removed from my wall (if there is damage, I would like it fixed). I want the old tile removed and green board put down, like Chad told us would need to happen. Our tile flooring put in our bathroom and the job finished for the price we agreed upon. I also want it finished the way we agreed upon, with the trim removed from my window and the boarder placed on the wall.

Response:

Wall to Wall prides itself with our service to our customers. Each customer order is accompanied with a pre installation checklist. This checklist goes over the merchandise on the order to make sure that it is correct, and also goes over the labor to try to eliminate any misunderstanding, and then is signed by the salesperson and the customer. This was done in this case.
