He called a couple of times more and stated that he had talked to other shops and they confirmed that removing the bed would have been the best way to refinish the bedOne shop even stated they could build an elaborate scaffolding system to suspend the painter in a harness over the bedNone of those options were anything that he wanted to initially figure in our estimateThe shops, he states, wanted twice as much as we charged himHe told us that other shops had told him we did an improper repair, yet Mr [redacted] even admits in his letter to his credit company that "None of the five or the three I originally contacted would put their opinion in writing." Mr [redacted] statement speaks volumes! None of the shops would state that the repair was improper because they could see his repair was appropriate for the dollar amount spentHe did finally get one shop to write a vague message about "OEM standards"I might also add that OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) [redacted] would have either painted the bed off the vehicle or with robotsNeither of which Mr [redacted] was willing to pay forSince Mr [redacted] exterior of his truck is sanded and buffed I believe his expectations of paint right out of the spay gun were way too high We have an outstanding reputation with our customers and have been in business for seventy-two yearsThis is due to the quality of work we do, as well as the verbal and written communications we have with our customersA large portion of our business is via word of mouthThis would not be possible had we not given excellent customer satisfaction to past customers We presented these facts to our credit card processor and the $was promptly returned to our accountMr [redacted] was not happy with that result so he disputed the charges AGAIN! He was also unsuccessful in his second attemptSo I guess he believes the Revdex.com will be the third charm! At this time I cannot continue to lose money on this jobMr [redacted] got exactly what he agreed to at the price he desired

I took my wife 1932 [redacted] in the have the right rear fender replaced after I backed into a pole and cracked it. I supplied the fender and got a reasonable bid. They removed the broken fender and prepared the new fender, color match is stop on and looks very nice. We show this car and drive it and I'm very happy with they did. Thanks you for doing such a good good.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/09) */
I would first like to thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. On July 16th 2014 Mr. [redacted] brought his 1979 Chevrolet truck to our shop for an estimate to refinish his truck bed. He was debating a spray-in bed liner or...

refinishing it. His vehicle has a very nice finish on the exterior and he stated that the bed did not need to be as nice as the exterior. His words were "It does not have to be show quality" and that every minor imperfection did not need to be addressed. His main concerns were price, color match, and no tape lines. I wrote an estimate within his budget and also told him that the best way to have painted the bed would have been to paint it BEFORE the exterior of the truck was refinished. I also told him that the bed should have been removed, stood on end and refinished that way. I told him that would assure the best quality refinish. He stated that removing the bed was out of the question and out of his budget. We told him we would use a single stage paint that uses the same tints as his exterior paint for color match and to keep the price down. A basecoat/clearcoat system would have provided more shine but would have also cost more money. He decided that option was too expensive. We told him the single stage paint would also allow us to spray the sides and work our way out of the bed and leave no tape lines, this spray process addressed one of his concerns.
A few weeks later he called and brought the vehicle to Walnut Park Auto Body. He stated that the spray-in liner place could not guarantee color match and that our estimate met his main concerns, price, color match, and no tape lines. Our estimate had 9 hours prep/repair time and 5 hours refinish time for a total of $1013. When we started the repair the bed it had much more damage than we anticipated. We spent easily 15 hours prepping the bed yet we did not charge Mr. [redacted] a single dime more.
When he picked up the truck he did not express any concerns. A week or so later he called back complaining. Mr. [redacted] stated that the refinish did not meet his expectations. We told him that was the best we could do with the process that he had agreed to. He wanted us to completely redo the job with basecoat/clearcoat paint at our cost. We stated that we had done exactly what he had paid for and that we would not absorb the costs. That is when he informed us that he had disputed the charges with his credit card company. They removed the $1013 from our account and he still wanted us to refinish the bed in basecoat/clearcoat system that would cost around $2000 to complete. A cost he was unwilling to pay. I was already out $1000 I could not afford to lose another $2000!
He called a couple of times more and stated that he had talked to other shops and they confirmed that removing the bed would have been the best way to refinish the bed. One shop even stated they could build an elaborate scaffolding system to suspend the painter in a harness over the bed. None of those options were anything that he wanted to initially figure in our estimate. The shops, he states, wanted twice as much as we charged him. He told us that other shops had told him we did an improper repair, yet Mr. [redacted] even admits in his letter to his credit company that "None of the five or the three I originally contacted would put their opinion in writing." Mr. [redacted] statement speaks volumes!
None of the shops would state that the repair was improper because they could see his repair was appropriate for the dollar amount spent. He did finally get one shop to write a vague message about "OEM standards". I might also add that OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) [redacted] would have either painted the bed off the vehicle or with robots. Neither of which Mr. [redacted] was willing to pay for. Since Mr. [redacted] exterior of his truck is sanded and buffed I believe his expectations of paint right out of the spay gun were way too high.
We have an outstanding reputation with our customers and have been in business for seventy-two years. This is due to the quality of work we do, as well as the verbal and written communications we have with our customers. A large portion of our business is via word of mouth. This would not be possible had we not given excellent customer satisfaction to past customers.
We presented these facts to our credit card processor and the $1013 was promptly returned to our account. Mr. [redacted] was not happy with that result so he disputed the charges AGAIN! He was also unsuccessful in his second attempt. So I guess he believes the Revdex.com will be the third charm! At this time I cannot continue to lose money on this job. Mr. [redacted] got exactly what he agreed to at the price he desired.
