I purchased tickets to a show for myself and 3 daughters for Jan 4, 2107 at 2pm for $176.00. Philadelphia has declared a state of emergency for this area which makes it impossible for us to attend. I was told I can exchange the tix for another show in the season for the same row and seat location. The new tix are priced at $97 which leave an almost $400 difference. They said the original ticket price of $176 is "VIP" which means that half of the ticket price goes towards the theatre's charity. When I purchased the tix through Ticketmaster, this VIP explanation was not indicated. The agent for the theatre said they are aware that Ticketmaster "does not do a good job of showing what VIP means". I wanted the difference to be applied as a credit to come again and for the full purchase price to be used. When I spoke to the manager, Matthew, he said he will not allow for the use of the credit. I feel as though the theatre is aware that patrons are not fully informed of the "VIP" explanation on Ticketmaster. I also feel as though I am being taken advantage of because the same seats are now $97.

I am writing in response to your January 16th letter from the Revdex.com regarding acomplaint ***) you received from *** concerning a Walnut Street Theatreticket Durchase and subsequent exchange. *** was not able to attend the Januarv 4th 2pm performance of *** due to weather conditions and, according to the completed Revdex.com form,"would like the full purchase price of the tickets to be refunded."
We certainly want to accommodate patrons as much as possible when situations arise, and we did sowith ***. In fact, as I will detail later, we want to compensate her for a large portion ofthis transaction. We will do this even though certain statements in the complaint are not factual:"Philade|phia declaring a state of emergency on January 4th, 2018"
As the weather was the reason given for her party not attending, it is a major part of the complaint.Unfortunately, I cannot ?nd any indication that there was a state of emergency declared and allperformances that day did go on as scheduled. However, as there was a substantial amount of snow (4inches), there was a travel advisory in effect and we always want our patrons to be safe. We thusallowed patrons to exchange by phone into a performance of their choice at no cost, waiving all regularexchange fees.
"When I purchased through Ticketmaster, the VIP explanation was not indicated"As you can see on the screenshot (attached page), when tickets in the Premium/VIP area are purchased,a popup indicates that $87.50 of the $175.00 price is a donation. I should also mention that allTicketmaster online transactions are followed with an email that states all sales are ?nal, with norefunds or exchanges.
However, as I mentioned earlier, we do want to further assist ***. We have alreadycredited her for the four seats and, per her instruction, reserved the same seats she had for her originalshow (***) for the upcoming production of ***! She is correct that those seats are currentlynot at the VIP price (even though the same location). However, our VIP seating is fluid based on demand(much like airline seating) and seats many rows further back than what she has may be sold at thehigher VIP price as we get closer to the performance. In spite of this, we will refund the donationportion of the transaction (4@ $87.50 = $300); I hope this solution works for ***.Sincerely,Ed G.Director of Marketing and Public Relations
