This business is in the process of being sold to another business and the policies of the new owners have changed Due to the startup costs associated with beginning a new business, the new owners are requesting that a deposit be paid up front in order to provide funds to allow for hiring of housekeeping staff and supplies associated with running a service business The new policies went into effect and guests were notified of the policy change but some of those guests did not receive the messages through [redacted] Unfortunately, guests were given the ability to cancel their reservations in plenty of time to re-book with another vacation rental in the area This business change was due to health reasons on my part and the inability to continue to run this business The new owners are attempting to honor all of the reservations that have been booked thus far with as little disruption as possible Unfortunately, some guests are not happy with the policy changes and are therefore given the opportunity to cancel their reservations and book with another property before reservations become scarce The previous policy allowed guests to cancel up to hours prior to arrival but the new owners are requesting deposits and not allowing cancellations after days prior to arrival I attempted to work with this guest, but she was angry and I was unable to come to an acceptable agreement with her She cancelled her reservation and she was refunded her deposit in full.There is always some disruption when a business is sold to new owners and unfortunately, this is a small disruption other guests have also been charged the deposit and understand that it is a process but that they still have their reservation with a slight change to the policy I could have closed the property and sold it and all of the guests would have been cancelled but chose to sell the property and the business all-inclusive so that rentals could be resumed without much disruption Hopefully this will resolve the problems and all other guests appear to be happy and those that did not like the change have cancelled their reservations and re-booked elsewhere where they were not required to provide a deposit
