Ward's Landscape Service, Inc. Reviews (3)

We have reviewed the sketch drawn up from a family member of Ms*** and were reminded that it is not feasible to run water uphill and not of ethical practice to deposit drainage onto adjoining properties. What Ms*** and her brother-in-law failed to investigate is the fact that the drainage swale on the school property was probably designed to hold runoff of a major stormWe cannot be responsible for trying to drain the runoff from Ms*** back yard to an area that is owned by the city/county/state that could potentially flood into her property. It is not ethical design for a landscape architect, like myself, or a civil engineer to disperse drainage onto adjoining properties, whether it be public or private. Please review the sketch and notes provided from Ms*** brother-in-law provided by them or I can attach at a later time.Ms*** seemed to be pleased at the time of service with a few minor adjustments to be reworked during fall seeding time and paid the invoice in fullWe are not sure where this complaint is coming from other than the frustration we are all having with the extremely wet spring we are having

*** ***Revdex.com Reply to Response from Ward Landscaping 4/9/18 As I stated in my initial complaint, we drew up a plan that we felt would work and Ward came out knowing what we wanted and expected. They refused to follow the plan, saying that they would try their way first. They promised to come back until it was right. They left the yard so that it does not drain and does not dry out. We (the contractor and I) discussed taking the water to the front and agreed the it would not be feasibleAdding top soil to the yard was not an option as the structures on the property are on grade and adding additional soil would have resulted in flooding into the structuresThe berm the contractors were supposed to grade in between my neighbor and my yard, per the plan, would have prevented drainage from flowing into my yardGrading soil to the rear of the property, again per plan, would not have affected school property as there is a large drainage ditch between my property line and the school property into which the water would have flowed. Ward agreed to come back and correct the failure created by their first attempt (to make it right), at no additional charge, and that is what they said they would do. The second attempt did nothing to correct the problem and in fact, made it worse. The well which they installed and to which they drained the garage downspouts to is woefully inadequate and I questioned them on that as it was being installed. I hired Ward to fix and existing drainage problem at my house and gave them a reasonable plan, which they agreed to execute, until they got here to do the workAs I stated the yard does not drain and is now nothing but mud and ponding waterIf they already knew that the yard wasn’t ‘fixable’, why did they agree to do the work? Ward Landscaping needs to either refund my money or come out and fix the problem

Homeowner stated drainage issue was present when home was purchased in early Former owner denied this, as did the inspection report. Our company proposed installing topsoil along with the work that was doneThe homeowner declined to purchase topsoil for the project and also declined taking
drainage from rear yard to along side of house to front yard, which is a lower point of elevation. Our company graded the rear yard within the property boundaries adding downspout piping leading to a well area behind the garage. The homeowners drainage issues extend beyond the property with the northwestern neighbors drainageUntil this is resolved, water will be an issue at *** *** **.There were a couple of areas in the rear of the yard that needed to be "tweaked" so we returned in the fall during seeding season to resolve these.(No charge). We did try not to deposit any drainage onto the next door neighbor who is lower and has an exterior sump pump at the corner of their home to keep water from entering their house.*** *** **has drainage issues that have existed for a long time and without assistance from adjoining homeowners and school property from behind, the problems cannot be resolved without a large budgetWe feel for our former customer and believe she should never have been advised to purchase the property.Best Regards,*** ***Wards Landscape Service
