Responding to the complaint [redacted] concerning moldy stored items Molds and mildews are everywhere and only need moisture to grow This spring and summer were quite wet and the conditions were conducive to mold growth Storing items in our units is akin to storing them in a garage that is not climate controlled, and sometimes moisture does form on the floors given the difference in temperature and moisture levels in the air or through various other ways There are several steps an individual could take to avoid the damages caused by moisture on stored items, such as opening the unit occasionally to let in some fresh air, or buying products available to cut down on moisture, or avoiding moisture even more so by storing items in climate controlled units However we do not provide these services or products and are not responsible for the condition of the stored items, that responsibility falls on the tenant as is clearly stated in the contract What we provide are various sizes of storage units for the temporary storage of items These units are made with metal walls, a metal roof, concrete floors, and overhead doors and are not temperature controlled nor advertised as such This is the first and only complaint we’ve received regarding these matters in the ten years we’ve operated these premises
