Review: Warren Heating and Cooling installed a new heating and air conditioning system in our home about 7 years ago. During that time they have had to add refrigerant to the air conditioning unit at least 3 times. Since it is not normal to have to add refrigerant they should have known there was a leak. Since we are not the cooling experts we assumed they were doing what they were supposed to do. They finally did a leak detection test and found a leak in the coils. Our warranty has now expired and Warren Heating is expecting us to pay $1800 for the repair. They pushed this issue down the road so they could get to the costly repair after the warranty had expired.Desired Settlement: I would like this repaired by a competent company and Warren Heating to pay for it.

I am rejecting this response because:When I was selecting a company to replace my heating and cooling system in 2009 one of the things I considered was having to have my chimney lined for my water heater. With a high efficiency system no longer using the chimney that left the water heater needing to be properly vented. Warren Heating and Cooling would line my chimney for $400 while other companies were around $1200. I selected them because they provided a good unit at a fair price and I would get the liner taken care of. Fast forward to last November 2014 we had a small chimney fire unrelated to anything regarding this issue. When I had my chimney inspected I was told that my water heater liner was done incorrectly and it needed to be replaced. It was apparently too short for the chimney and Warren Heating and Cooling used improper materials to make it long enough. The metal they used was all rusted and in time could have shifted and blocked the chimney resulting in a carbon monoxide problem. This was something that would have never been discovered if I didn't have someone go on my roof and inspect my chimney. The inspector took pictures that I might still be able to get my hands on if you need them. Clearly a corner was cut and I chalked it up to you get what you pay for. And, by the way, it cost me $1200 to repair. In the mean time, we have had our air conditioner serviced every year as we are supposed to. There were a couple of times where the a/c did not work after being serviced. Warren immediately came out to fix it. It was that the unit needed to be charged. I disagree that the loss of freon was due to the technicians removing their gauges. If that is the case, Warren is losing a lot of money every year by having to replace freon that their techs lose. They stated that they only had to put in 1 pound a couple of times. How do I even know if that is correct and was what the system needed or it was just enough to get by. Every person I have spoken to in the cooling industry says you should never have to put in anything. There had to have been a leak. As a matter of fact one of Warren's techs did a basic leak search a few years ago. Why? The tech must have suspected there was something wrong. As it turned out the leak, which Warren did detect in their "free" leak search, was in the unit in the basement, not outside. It was in the coil. I understand that the manufacturer has a warranty period of 5 years. I contend that Warren should have suspected there was leak when their tech did the basic search a few years ago while the unit was still under warranty. Warren quoted me a price of $1800. I got another price from a very reputable company that I had used prior to Warren and it was $2400. I went with the other company because I did not feel comfortable after finding out about the chimney, and seeing that the price was so different. That is what got me into trouble the first time. When the other company came to repair the unit I find out that there was a wire that was not hooked up properly ( no danger but not correct), the taping of the duct work around the unit in the basement was not done well and cool air was escaping into the basement instead of going upstairs where it was needed and the electrical cord going to the a/c unit from the house should have been changed rather than using the original 30 year old wire. I don't really appreciate the flippant response from Ms. B that "you can't keep 100% of the people happy 100% of the time". I can tell you if every one discovered the things I discovered about the corner cutting they wouldn't keep anybody happy ever.

I am rejecting this response because:Attached please find pictures of the chimney liner installed for my water heater. Clearly there are materials used that would not have passed inspection, IF INSPECTORS WENT ON THE ROOF, but since they don't, Warren Heating was able to get away with this. All of the other things contained in this complaint are further evidence of their cutting corners and lack of attention to details. If there had never been an issue with adding freon prior to my warranty expiring I would not have even thought twice about it. But, since there were times when coolant needed to be added, it should have been a red flag to them that something was wrong. I have tried to make the point that they just kicked the can down the road and hoped the band-aid they kept using would hold. This back and forth with them refusing to acknowledge that there were mistakes made, is getting old. One of their own employees told me that they would not have Warren come to fix my unit based on all of the things that have happened. And, by the way, I live in [redacted] Township not [redacted], so once again, if you were paying attention to what you were doing, you would know that. But what difference does it make, it will just get swept under the carpet like everything else.

Our family relies on Warren Heating & Cooling to keep our home climate comfortable year round! The Company has installed a new furnace(s)/AC unit that continue to perform flawlessly. The prices are quite reasonable as well! I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge all the friendly folks that work for the Company, i.e. Owner, Sales people, Office staff, and Service Personnel are pleasant and always attentive to the needs of the customer. Overall, the care and professionalism demonstrated by Warren Heating & Cooling LLC has been unparalleled in my 34 years as a homeowner in NJ.

Getting them to come back out to fix whatever they have broken is like pulling teeth. We are now so upset at how quickly they take our money for providing a "service" which has left us in a worse situation than before their arrival, but they are never quick to resolve any problems they have caused.
