Review: [redacted]

my husband paid to have the truck inspected so we could purchase it . in that inspection it was stated that the truck has flood damage with numerous pictures to prove it. [redacted] texted my husband at 7:45 pm on 1/14/14 asking if he had received the report . I texted him back stating yes and the report said it has flood damage and that we were going to report them to the Revdex.com . he then called and started yelling at me about how the person that did the inspection was lying and didn't know what he was doing and even made derogatory remarks about the mans attire and vehicle. I then spoke on 1/16/14 to someone claiming to be one of the owners and he screamed at me for 10 minutes saying the company we hired for the inspection was making up facts about the truck . we hired [redacted] online to do the inspection and we have several pictures that were taken of that truck that show extensive rust not just on the outside but under the dash and seats . I asked them to refund the inspection fee due to the fact they are trying to sell a truck that should have been scrapped and they told me to get it from [redacted] since they did it . the link above is to the inspection report if you are unable to view it please let me know.Desired Settlement: we want the inspection fee of 160$ refunded since they are selling a truck that is illegal to sell to begin with.

Customer first emailed back on 12/23/2013 requesting information and a copy of a [redacted] vehicle history report, which had a clean title history and no accident reports. Warrenton Select provided this report as an attachment for [redacted] on 12/23/2013. Over the next couple weeks up till Jan 9 we exchanged over 30 emails and several text messages about the truck. Very early in the process [redacted] expressed concern over purchasing a truck from long distance (he was in Texas, we are located in Virginia). I told him I understand his concerns and there were several ways he could go about this process as we do this quite often with customers from long distance. One option I presented to him was to hire an independent third party vehicle inspection company. We did not offer to pay for this inspection nor did we make any recommendations for companies. They decided to hire the company [redacted] for this inspection and [redacted] paid them directly. At no point did we ever collect any money and no paperwork was ever singed by [redacted] to complete the purchase for the [redacted]. On January 13 a representative from [redacted] stopped by during the afternoon and was here for about 45 minutes to do his inspection. [redacted] texted me the morning of January 14 asking if anyone had stopped by and informed him they did the previous day. At 7:45pm central time I texted him and asked if he had received the report. This is when he (turned out to be his wife texting back) informed me the truck was a flood vehicle by their report. I texted back in surprise and shock to their report which was misunderstand as me attacking them. I them called to clear the air and to have them understand my shock to the report. The conversation starting calmly on my behalf ([redacted]) and did get more heated as [redacted] accused us of lying and bad business practices and calling me cocky, arrogant, and difficult to work with since we didn't discount our truck enough for them. At this time I explained I am not trying to persuade them into purchasing anything but to clear the air about our business and the processes we go through to represent our trucks properly. This truck was purchased by a reputable auto auction ([redacted]), which go through a post inspection for mechanical, frame, flood damage amongst others provided by the auction. We then check [redacted] records, [redacted], autocheck vehicle history reports, and the trucks are inspected by [redacted] certified technicians at our facility for such evidence of total loss vehicles. All of which checked out clean.

It was at this time I questioned the company [redacted] credentials and practices to make a determination for something as serious as a Flood vehicle since this is very serious accusation. I explained not just anyone can throw that term around and anyone that does should be someone that has a background as an Insurance adjuster, or worked in the mechanical or body shop background to experience the real tell tale signs of flood damage vehicles. She responded with saying they are highly reputable and professional company and we were the liars. I did question the company's professionalism by making a comment about the representatives beat up dented car he drove up in, but never made a comment about the representatives attire at any time. I do question [redacted] reputation, as any search about [redacted] on [redacted] or [redacted] has multiple pages of complaints and ripoff reports of the company's business practice and customer unpleasant experiences.

Near the end of the conversation [redacted] demanded we refunded them the $160 fee they paid to [redacted] for the pre purchase inspection. I declined. As this is no different than when purchasing a house and paying for a home inspection as no verbal, written, or monetary commitment was ever made by either party, just our time was invested. The call ended with me wishing them luck in finding their dream truck and that I stand behind our trucks and reputation 100% as being accurately described.

It seems to us that [redacted] opinion is different than all of the other facts and reputable sources that have information for the truck. All other data sources would say that their information is incorrect and perhaps [redacted] should refund the customer for providing bad data. We had another customer evaluate and purchase the truck with absolutely no complaints. If [redacted] were to purchase any vehicle from us and determine later that there was unknown and /or undisclosed flood damage, Warrenton Select would immediately correct the situation with a repurchase of the vehicle which would consist of refunding their purchase price. Warrenton Select stands behind our product and our customers. We also respect the customers rights to a third party evaluation and we specifically told them "please do not buy the truck if you are uncomfortable with any aspect of the transaction", but we do stand behind our inventory. We are unable to financially support the customer's personal choices of investigating the truck. We spend thousands of dollars inspecting, repairing, and providing vehicle history reports. It is the customers discretion and expense if they decide to seek their own council as we have already completed our own inspections and vehicle history searches that we gladly provide to all customers.

If any other information or questions from any party please contact [redacted] or [redacted].

Thanks,

Warrenton Select

Response:

I spoke with [redacted] from the company and he stated that the truck was not purchased by the consumers that they were only trying to come to a deal. He did suggest to the consumers to get another opinion on the truck and have it inspected by a third party and there was not an agreement for him to pay for the inspection.

Consumer called and stated that she is still not satisfied with the business response because they should not have been told the car was fine but there was rust.
