Re: [redacted]
Dear [redacted]:
I am in receipt of your letter dated Monday, January 4, 2016 in regards to the above referenced matter. I have received the extensive communication between SELCO and Ms. [redacted] and it is SELCO's position that Ms. [redacted]'s characterization of the matter...

is inaccurate in stating that SELCO has refused to do anything about the issues that she has raised.
This matter originated with a check that Ms. [redacted] wrote to herself that came back as NSF. Ms. [redacted] delivered a letter date August 13, 2015 along with her payoff of the account. In that letter Ms. [redacted] states that she's paying off her old savings account with the credit union. Ms. [redacted] does not dispute that the account is hers, nor mention anything about a bad address. SELCO then sent Ms. [redacted] a letter, at her request, providing proof that SELCO considered the debt paid in full and that it would be reporting the debt as such in the next reporting cycle.
Subsequent to that letter, Ms. [redacted] began disputing the status of the debt with the Credit Reporting Agencies prior to the next lawfully scheduled reporting cycle. SELCO employees explained to Ms. [redacted] that if she disputed prior to the next reporting cycle (i.e. the end of the month that the debt was paid off) it could delay the updating of her credit report showing the account as paid in full. It was also told to Ms. [redacted] that once SELCO updates with the credit reporting agencies that it can take up to 90 days for them to update their records and that SELCO has no control over when they update her credit report. During these disputes, Ms. [redacted] does not indicate an issue regarding her address or this being someone else's account.
SELCO updated Ms. [redacted]'s credit report to show the account as paid in full on August 31, 2015 as required under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Despite the information that it can take credit reporting agencies up to 90 days to update her credit report, in September, Ms. [redacted] began a series of credit disputes that were accurate responded to by SELCO stating that the account was paid in full and closed.
In October of 2015, Ms. [redacted] then begins disputing the account as being associated with an "invalid address" and wanting SELCO to remove the trade line from her credit report. SELCO's associate general counsel responded to Ms. [redacted]'s inquiry stating that we have thoroughly reviewed her account and it is indeed reporting as paid in full and closed to the credit reporting agencies. Ms. [redacted] then mentions ID theft and an address that she has not lived at, but does not say that this account was opened fraudulently. Ms. [redacted]'s position that she has never been associated with the address used in connection with the account opening is factually inconsistent with Ms. [redacted]'s 2013 Bankruptcy Petition wherein she acknowledges, under penalty of perjury, she lived at the very address. Further, it should be noted that Ms. [redacted]'s current claim disputing the address is also after Ms. [redacted]'s paid off what she stated was "her old savings account, " and apologized for letting her account become problematic.
SELCO has addressed this issue repeated with Ms. [redacted] and it has accurately reported this debt as paid in full and closed since August 31, 2015 (within the same month that Ms. [redacted] paid off the balance). SELCO has responded to credit reporting agency disputes as this debt having been paid in full since August 31, 2015.
SELCO has been accurately reporting this debt as required by federal law and has been responsive to every one of Ms. [redacted]'s inquiries wherein she thanks SELCO employees for being responsive and stating how much she appreciates SELCO's responses and apologizes for letting her account get into this position.
If you have any further questions or clarifications, please do not hestiate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Steven L. M[redacted]
VP, Administration and General Counsel
