Hello,I would like to provide some clarification. We never confirm that any patient receives a free eye exam under their insurance because there's no way of knowing that until an insurance claim is processed through insurance. We quote insurance benefits as a courtesy but we never guarantee that a...

claim will be paid in full by the insurance company. What was said to you was that there was no copayment for the routine exams due at time of service therefore we did not need to collect anything. The insurance website also gives us  limited information. It tells us that there is a routine exam available and that there is no copayment required. That's it. It did not tell us whether or not you were in network with our facility. We accept hundreds of insurances and cannot know exactly what each insurance will cover, we can only identify whether we accept the insurance plan and what the insurance company states the copayment will be. Furthermore, we submit insurance claims as a courtesy on behalf of patients. It is not our responsibility to know all of the details of your insurance plan, that is actually your responsibility. Your insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company. We are not part of that contract. You should have looked up your insurance benefits prior to coming to your appointments, not after. Once the services are provided, we bill your insurance accordingly and follow whatever it is that your insurance contract states once the claim processes. You also signed our financial agreement which states that you agree to pay anything insurance does not pay. We're happy to provide you copies of the financial agreement if you'd like. I also have documentation that you spoke with our billing manager regarding your concerns and at that time she offered you a payment plan so it is incorrect to state that you were not offered any financial assistance. We are still perfectly willing to work out a payment plan for the outstanding balances. We also only send patients to collections if they fail to pay their bills after the full billing cycles. It is defamation to state that we knew we were out of network and chose not to tell you. We would never knowingly keep that information from a patient. That is not how we operate our business. We take pride in offering the best care possible and establishing wonderful relationships with our patients. This is why we've been a thriving practice since 2004. As mentioned previously, if you would like copies of the signed financial policies or if you would like to set up a payment plan for the outstanding balances, our billing manager is happy to do that for you.
