November 18, 2014
Dear [redacted]:This is in response to your letter dated November 7, 2014.
The patient referenced above was scheduled for an exam with Washington Radiology on October 1, 2014. At the time of scheduling, the patient requested a female radiologist. This was noted on her scheduled appointment. At that time there was a female radiologist scheduled for the day of her appointment. Unfortunately, the radiologist’s schedule changed and the patient’s request for a female radiologist was not identified when we performed our daily schedule review. The patient came to our office and was scanned by a female technologist. The technologist presented the case to the radiologist on duty, which was a male. The technologist and radiologist proceeded to the exam room. Upon the male radiologist entering the doorway, and no further, the patient very emphatically stated no male physicians. The male radiologist immediately left. The female technologist offered her sincere apologies for the oversight and offered to continue the exam without the male radiologist present in the room. The patient made the decision to leave the office without completing the exam and there was no charge for her visit.
Later the same day, the patient called and spoke to the office manager, who again apologized and offered to have the patient return at her convenience to be seen by a female radiologist. The patient declined.
A letter was mailed to the patient on October 3, 2014 apologizing for the error on our part. The letter also stated that steps had been taken to avoid this situation from happening in the future and that we had spoken to the personnel involved with her appointment. If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely,Doreen M. Manager

Review: Contract issues and customer service issues. I previously called made an appointment for an ultrasound. During making the appointment I asked by my request to be seen by a female and not a male. I asked if this was going to be an issue than let me know I will schedule else where. I was told no they would do my request. I arrived at appointment, Shamika the receptionist, signed me in. I ask her not once but twice about making sure its in my note that I request a female. She told me twice that Mam, there is no males working in this office today. It was written in my notes and asked clearly to her, therefor I was glad that they understood. I was called in by Joy, she did my upper stomach ultrasound. When that was completed she told me that she was going to get the lady to finsh up my internal ultrasound and that she was coming back in with her to explain everything that is going on, form her telling me that I was in understanding that she knew what I requested, less than two minutes later Joy walks in with a MALE doctor, I did not get the test done, it was in clear violation of what I requested and what was written in my file, Joy clearly stated that she just looked over my chart and realized what it said, so there is no communication of doctors switching up, no warning to me of a change of plans, my chart was not read clearly to fulfill my request that were clearly stated since appointment made? Instead they don't care about their clients and request, or don't take pride in meeting the request of patients who depend on their trust and comfort.Desired Settlement: why was my request violated, why was I lied to by Shamika the receptionist, why was there no notification given to me that the female doctor had to go home early, and they had to call another one in. Why was my chart no looked over completely by the first nurse doing my exam? Why did it even get this far for me to be fearful, shaking, upset and not taking care of like a client should be?
