Waterloo Auto Repair Reviews (1)

Review: I went in to get the timing set. I got the car back and it was leaking oil majorly from the valve cover gasket. Due to my work schedule and their business schedule it has taken a few weeks to get an open slot. I took it today after talking to the owner for the repair. When I got there I was told by the mechanic on duty that I was going to have to pay $25 for the repair. I asked him why should I be responsible for the leaking gasket if I came to get my timing set. No one informed me that the valve c had to come off and that I would need to replace the gasket. I purchased a new gasket myself that cost $26.15 now I have to pay $25 for the repair of something that I never authorized to be touched nor was I informed. The mechanic told me I am responsible for the leak, they did their job and if it's leaking now it's my job. They had no regards to the fact that I had just gotten a new gasket the day before their repairs and had it put on and completely sealed with no leaks.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to pay for the new gasket and assume responsibility for the leak and fix it. I have documented proof that the gasket was bought and put on the day before their repairs were made.

I I[redacted] replying back reguarding about [redacted], about her vehicle repair That I worked on with the timing issue. Miss [redacted] Has been coming to my shop since April Of year Trying To get the timing fix on her car So she can get smog going and get her tags. Every time she came here she brought different mechanics to make a deal where I can fix here car for cheap. I told miss [redacted] I will not touch a vehicle or have someone take the timing cover off. and have me reset the timing and have her take the back to the other mechanic to finish putting everything back together. I hold her I don't do any kind of business like that all. she asked how much will I charge do to the job. I told her if the timing is off from distributor it will cost her $40.00 but if the timing off on the motor meaning from camshaft or crankshaft. it will cost her about $140 to $200. so since that time I have been going back and forth with her to bring the car down to set the timing. every time she called and schedule appointments either she cancel or no show until some time in august she show's up to get the job done. she said she just had the valve cover gasket done like 3 days from her mechanic and prior to that she said she"s been going back and forth with her other mechanic because her valve cover gasket was still leaking. I did explain to her that if I cant retime the timing from the distributor and I have to open the timing gear cover to do inspection. to determent if the timing off the gear or not. she said ok. let me know when the car is done with the smog. after the diagnostic found out timing is off from the crankshaft. Do to previous timing belt job from her mechanic he didn't set the timing right. the timing is off the by 2 tooth. I took the timing covers off to reset the timing. it was 2hr process. after the timing set. I took the car to get smog, and smog test failed do to bad catalytic converter. timing and every else passed good. after that notified the customer I reset timing from the crankshaft and it was off 2 tooth and vehicle didn't pass smog do to she has a bad catalytic converter. she came pick up car. I did mention to her there's no warranty on resetting the timing because I didn't do the timing belt job and its not my parts and no parts were included from me. I made it very clear with the customer. and about a month later she calls and stated when is the good time to bring her car in so I can change the valve cover gasket. I told her go ahead take to the shop my guy is working and he will take care of you. and which she did same day. from my knowledge I didn't know that valve cover gasket on her car was leaking. I thought she wanted me to do the valve cover gasket as a seprate job. I was charging her $25.00 for the labor because she already has her part. she got upset why I m charging her $25.00????? I told her cause its not free. and she I messed up her valve cover gasket and its leaking. I said to her you should take to the mechanic that did the valve cover gasket. I didn't do your valve cover gasket. and cause a scene at my shop and she left. that's all there is....I hope this information helps resolve the issue and complaint with my company. Thank You
