Rented out the *** for mother’s 60th birthday party over a month in advance, and on the day of the party upon receiving keys to the building I find out someone else had the building for the day.
Watts Property Management is the managing agent for the ***. The party listed as *** did put a deposit of $100 down to rent the building on 08/24/18. The owners of the club had blacked that date out and we were unaware until the day of the event Ms. had rented the building for. The morning of the event my assistant *** met Ms. at the club to give her the keys and found the building already set up for a party. Ms. then contacted the representative of the club to see what was going on and was told they had the building blocked out for that day. Ms. then tried to contact the building owner of the building next door to try to secure it for Ms.. They were unable to accommodate the request. Ms. then tried everything she could to find them a solution and was unsuccessful. She then refunded Ms. the $100 deposit and Ms. was never charged for renting the building. This was an unfortunate mix up between the owners of the building and the property management company. Mistakes happen and we have spoken to the parties involved. They were able to secure another location and were able to proceed with the birthday party as scheduled. We are so very sorry that this mix up occurred but it was through no malice or intentional thought. This was a very unfortunate mistake but we worked very hard to help them and feel we did absolutely everything we could to remedy the situation. This building is rented as income to go to the *** for children and does not make profit. Thank you for your time and we have as a company learned a valuable lesson from this event. We hope the complaining party is able to forgive this very human error that was not intentional in the least.
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Watts Management did not do anything to help me. What rental company doesn’t check their booked dates? *** never called or said anything about her trying find me a solution. Watts went against their own contract. When you make a contract with someone renting a place, you know what dates are available ahead of time. I called them multiple times to talk about the situation after it happened and no one responded. No one followed up after I visited the company. I had to get lucky landing a place last minute just to have my moms party. The day was horrible and I lost a lot of money. I was humiliated by family and friends. I didn’t know what to tell them. Family visited from out of town and I was upset the whole day. Watts treated me wrong and something needs to be done about it.
