RE: Case #XXXXXXXX
Dear Ms. [redacted]
We believe at this time the issues that precipitated this complaint have been resolved. It appears this complaint was submitted the day before we performed our field investigation on 12-3-2015 and that the complaint may have all started from a lack of understanding and miscommunication regarding our equipment and the equipment limitations.
When our drill crew arrived at the site on 11-25-2015, the driller assessed the site and realized the ground was too soft for the truck-mounted drill rig (which weighs about 13 tons), and that the rig would get stuck if he drove onto the site. The drilling foreman then said that they would return to the site with an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) mounted drill rig. However, when the drilling foreman reported back to our company owner, regarding returning to the site with an ATV rig, The owner reassessed the situation and determined that the ATV rig was not the best option to complete this work. While the ATV rig is a tracked rig and could maneuver on the site, it is also quite large and has to be transported via a semi-trailer, which can be quite cumbersome to mobilize to a site, particularly for smaller projects. For this reason, the owner decided to send the lighter weight and smaller Geoprobe rig to the site at the earliest availability for that rig.
We were made aware that our client had an offer on the property and was to have a closing on the property on 12-4-2015. The Geoprobe rig was mobilized to the site to perform the soil borings on 12-3-2015, and we indicated that verbal results and information needed for our client's closing would be provided later that same day. One of our laboratory technician was sent to the site to collect the soil samples from the drill crew and transport them back to our laboratory as soon as the drilling was finished on 12-3-2015.
Once the samples arrived at our laboratory in the afternoon on 12-3-2015 and after evaluating the samples and information, the project engineer telephoned the client, who arranged a teleconference call between himself, his contractor, and our project engineer. The teleconference call went very well, and the project engineer was able to verbally provide the client and his contractor the information needed for his closing. The client's written report is also now completed.
Sincerely,
K & S Engineers, Inc.
