Wayne's Auto Repair Reviews (7)

Hello [redacted], First, I would like to thank you for your past loyalty to our shop. In our business, no appt. is needed. However, it does help spread the work out over the day so no customer has a long wait.I understand your sticker shock at a Full Synthetic oil change cost. With all the new cars...

on the street today, more than a third require synthetic oil to meet the demands of high tech engines and strict EPA standardsforced on auto manufacturers. Attached is a screen shot of our Mitchell Information System showing that your 2010 Corolla Requires synthetic oil. This is why Kris recommended it. Not to make more money. But to do the best thing for your car and not void any engine warranty. I apologize for any misunderstanding. And since you may not have been made aware of the extra cost, I will gladly refund the differenceof $51.00  Here if you need us, [redacted] Pres.

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find the resolution is satisfactory to me.

Electrical issues can be one of the most difficult things to diagnose in today's cars. Everything relies on a steady supply of clean electrical current. The readings we were getting when testing this car were very erratic and indicative of an alternator failure. The alternator uses battery power to...

amplify electrical current. Because the vehicle had a bad battery, The battery should have been replaced first. Then, the alternator retested for performance with a good battery. I apologize for the procedural error on the part of my technician. We never want to sell anything that isn't needed. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. My staff has been reprimanded, and reminded of proper procedure when dealing with an electrical issue. I will immediately refund the diagnostic fee. Thank You.Wayne L[redacted], President

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find the resolution is satisfactory to me. I appreciate their efforts at keeping their customers satisfied and am grateful for the refund. How should I expect that, by check in the mail or directly to the card we paid with? Thank you, again.

Let me start by asking "who is [redacted]?". On November 1st 2015 A 1995 Acura Integra was towed to our shop. The tow truck driver left us the contact info for [redacted], the person driving the car. We called [redacted] and informed him his car had arrived and that we would need...

his O.K. to get it in the shop and diagnose the problem. He said O.K.  After a couple of hours we had found the problem(s). About the same time a female who did not give her name called and said you have MY Acura Integra there and wanted to know the situation. We informed her of what we found and what it would take to get the car back on the road. We gave her the price of $302.64 and She said O.K., that's fine. Later, we received a call from [redacted] inquiring about completion time and price. He said O.K.  Some time after this when the vehicle was finished and parked outside we get a call from a third party claiming to be [redacted]s father and wanting to know why nobody contacted him. We explained that we had already talked to two people and that diagnosis and repair were authorized and completed. Seven days later we called [redacted] and informed him of the storage fees if the car was not picked up soon. He came in Nov. 9th Paid the bill and left with no complaint. We have been in business a long time and we do not do work without authorization. We want the customer to be happy and at the end of the day we want to be paid for our time and expertise. Misunderstandings happen and sometimes its no one persons fault. Because of this we are willing to refund Half of the charges [redacted] paid.

My complaint consists of a machanic that had said I needed a new engine for my car. I get the car back and have had problems since. Wayne's Auto Repair was the only machanic I found that did engine work when my [redacted] broke down in Smithfield. I got it towed to him a few week before my first payment so I could get a loan to pay it. My first payment was $1,200 on 3/21/15. I got it back 2/28/15. I was told the engine has a 60 day warrantee. I drive it 2 days and the check engine light is back on. It takes at least 3 weeks to finally get in touch with him. After a week he gets it towed to his shop and keeps it til 5/7/15. The only work done on it was a horn button and a brake light and he ran it through the computer machine. I get it back and the check engine light is back on and can't get in touch with him. Plus, every time we talk to him or see him at the shop he talks like he is drinking or drugged. He's not rude but talks in circles and about other things than your car. Desired Settlement$2,200 for the cost of replacing an engine that I still need to get work done. Business Response I would first like to say I'm sorry for taking so long to respond. [redacted].So, When her/his car was towed in approx. 6.5 wks before the $1200 down pymnt was made, I was told that the car had been run out of oil. She/ they added oil & continued trying to start car. Which is actually a [redacted] with 95K, not a [redacted]. I then ordered the used engine for the car which cost $1023 with 125k and a 90 day warranty which covers the engine only. No labor, electrical or bolt on parts.( such parts as starter,Alternator, waterpump or any electrical sensors).I then installed the used engine which the labor charge was $962. After getting engine installed & running,I could not get the fans to come on when they should. I spent 2 extra days checking all wiring, fuses & ground wires. I was then informed car had also overheated on her. So I then replaced the cooling fan assembly which cost $127 plus tax. Once the fans were working properly & I was able to test drive the car, which ran fine I called her to let her know the car was ready. She/they picked the car up on a friday and drove all wknd.Which he stated the car ran perfect. Her boyfriend/husband called on monday and said the check engine light had come on. He did not speak to me, he had called my friends phone #. My friend put my girlfriend on the phone, she told him she would talk to me and see if I could get it towed. She got his Address for me. The person I sent to tow the car said he could not find it. And, I never heard from her/him again for approx. 1 week. They had been calling my friends phone who doesn't live near me & thought it was just a wrong # call so he didnt answer. When he finally called my #, my girlfriend answered & he started out with" I need your mailing address". She asked "can I ask what for?" his response was" so my lawyer can mail you a letter, you said you were going, a to have my car towed and noone has picked it up yet." She said she would talk to me, he responded with "I recorded that phone conversation" And that was the first she had heard of anyone recording her.She then gave me the phone & has since refused to speak to him at all on the phone.Which I believe she has the right to know if she is being recorded.I talked to him, & I had the car towed Back to the shop. I ran a computer diagnostic test which brought up the crankshaft position sensor. This part was one of the parts taken off the original engine. I replaced it at no charge, though it is not a covered part. He also states the airbag light was on & the horn didnt work. The diagnostic test said deployment commanded & the clockspring was bad. He first said the light wasnt on before the engine chnge. Three days later he stated Yeah the light was on.So again I spent days trying to figure out a problem the car previously had. When He picked the car up the second time He was charged $65, $60 for the tow bill& $5 for a horn button which he asked me to install because the clockspring would be An expensive repair. So, I again did days of work for no extra labor charge. That is the last I've heard until receiving This complaint. As with any engine change it is not unusual to have a few issues. But it Was impossible to work with someone who starts out threatening you with a lawyer & recording your phone conversations. when the car was towed back in, the horn button wasnt the only thing done, it was the only thing he/she was charged for other than the tow bill because the car could have been driven back to shop, but he/she refused. It is also clearly stated on the wall in the office that the only thing covered on used parts are the part itself. I tried to help out, but as I said, I spent alot of extra time working on things that they never told me were wrong with the car at the start.I have never not tried to help. In the case of this car there was obvious neglect to the car by the owner if it was run out of oil with no obvious leaks. There was no way for me to know what lights were or were not on without the car running. All lights come on when key is on, but if the car doesnt start I had know way to see what ones would stay on or go out. therefore I believe this car most likely had check engine/service engine soon light issues long before the engine blew up. I would also like to say that I always try to talk to people like there people, not just customers. I always try to explain whats going on with their car. So I may seem like I talk in circles but, to say I"m drinking or drugged is offensive & uncalled for. I dont think saying things like that has ever been necessary when it comes to something like this. There is no reason to try to cut someone down like that. Not everyone talks the same.
