Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:(1) I *never* expected or even used the words "perfect" or "perfection" in my discussions with them about my flooringBefore the project began, we agreed that the "roll" in the floor might prohibit their proceedingHowever, they assured me after the carpeting was removed, and each day as they proceeded, that they would be able to accomplish the project, and that it was advancing wellTheir claim that after three rows they advised obtaining a subfloor for a "perfect result" is FALSENo such conversation ever occurred(Had they told me that, I would never had requested that they proceed, and at no point did I request that they do so against *any* such contrary urging on their part.) Quite the contrary, as already mentioned: they reassured me that they believed the project could proceed.(2) They contradict themselves in their response to my complaintOne the one hand, they claim that the project should not have been done without a subfloor; on the other, they claim that they did an "Amazing!" jobViewers of the attached photos are eagerly invited to judge the veracity of this latter assertion for themselves(Unfortunately, I am limited to uploading merely four items!)There are planks placed completely parallel in successionThis is against the instructions for any floating laminate flooring and it compromises the integrity of the system (in hallway by kitchen). There are planks not linked to each other at various places in each of the roomsThis compromises the tongue and groove system and eventually leads to broken and completely loose planks. There are places where small pieces have been cut and are not attached to other planks at all, and hence are completely loose. There are places where there is a stair pattern and places where the distance for perpendicular joints is inches or less (minimum require by instructions is typically at least inches)This is observable in both rooms covered.(3) Their claim that the kitchen was not discussed is false: I have witnesses who were present when I repeatedly said "everything but the bathroom."

Good Morning! To respond properly to this complaint let me start from the beginningWe first saw Mr*** project in December, he explained that he was wanting to get the floor done before the beginning of the year due to travel plansAs we walked through his condo, which Mr*** left out of his
complaint, is located in the *** *** ***Now *** *** *** is one of Fort Collins oldest "high rise" apartment buildings built with concrete floors originallyWe visually noticed there was a "roll" in the floor at that time covered by carpetWe at that time informed Mr*** that the "roll" in the concrete underneath the carpet maybe a problem when it came to placing a vinyl floor on top of the exiting concrete building structure and that we would not really know how much of a problem until we removed the carpetAlso at that time our understanding of the scope of the project was to replace all the areas in the condo that had carpet with the vinyl flooring, the kitchen which did not have carpet was not discussedI will address my proposed solution for remedying this miscommunication later in my responseAs we began the project and removed the existing brand new carpet we noticed the floor was in bad shape however started laying the vinyl floorAfter about three rows we stopped the progress of the job and informed MR*** that a sub floor was needed to achieve the perfect result in which both my partner and I wanted and Mr*** wantedMr*** chose to ignore our professional opinions of how to make the flooring turn out "perfect" and said to do our best to overcome the issues we were encountering due to his travel deadlineI had communication with Mr*** every day at the end and explained that we were running into problems and his response was "when will you be done so I can get the painter in?" In addition we were asked by the property managment of *** *** *** to not cut under the door frames so we used a technique called plugs and were not given a chance to come back and seal said plugsI also discovered later that Mr*** had met with other flooring pros that recommended a sub floor be used alsoI also have numerous pictures of the finished product which given the fact that Mr*** chose to ignore the need for a sub floor turned out Amazing! My proposed solution for the miscommunication installing the kitchen floor, I estimated the Labor cost to be $in which I have offered Mr*** to pay half which would be $paid by We Gotta GuyAlso Mr*** requested an estimate for ripping out the now existing vinyl floor placing a sub floor and redoing the floor though outMy estimation for that came to right around $7kThis was unacceptable to Mr***However in order to achieve the results wanted is needed.Over all We Gotta Guy llc was contracted to replace all existing carpet flooring with vinyl flooring which we didI might add it took us twice the estimated labor hours to achieve the results we didIf we would have billed Mr*** for actual labor time the bill would have been $3400. Mr*** chose to have us move forward with the project ignoring our recommendation for the NEED of a sub floorI am sorry that he is not happy with the end result, we at We Gotta Guy always try our best to produce the very best in home improvement services!

To address the rejection:1. Perfection was a term we used when discussing with client. That with out a sub floor the floor would not come out perfect. Both my partner and I advised client that a sub floor was necessary. Also in researching this case [redacted] they would have advised that there was a sub floor needed to use the product that client purchased and more than likely did, client also had another contractor advise him that a sub floor would be needed.2. Given the circumstances and the work environment of not installing a sub floor it is "amazing" that the product the client purchased worked at all3. The loose pieces referred to are called "plugs" commonly used when installing a floor when cutting the door jams is not possible. We were specifically told "NOT" to cut the door jams to install floor by the management of the property being as they are steal and a part of the building as a whole. We complied with the request, the plugs can be sealed easily and we would have been happy to do that.4. The claim that his witnesses heard him say "everything but the bathroom" is great, however one would think that a friend and her mom hearing this statement would be less important than the contractors that are there to perform the labor for the project. Also when checking on the progress of said project one would think to clarify with the contractor that the kitchen was being covered as well seeing as it obviously was not being covered and progressing with the rest of the floor being installed. If it were brought to our attention at the time we could have adjusted and addressed it. We have offered to pay for half of install of said kitchen which would be $250 for the misunderstanding or miscommunication. Asking for a $1000 refund for labor of services rendered on a bill of $2400 ( $200 went for sub contractor for removal of debris) when the actual labor bill should have been $3600 is totally unreasonable.Regards,Mark L[redacted]OwnerWe Gotta Guy llc
