Purchased two Weather Lock windows in Sept 2006 and we were relocated from our Pittsburgh home 3 months later. The relocation company had control of the home 100% for 3 years and then 3 years I rented the home out - this year I finally had time to remove the windows and clean them (desperately needed) but was unable to get them back into place even with the tool - contacted the company and they want $125 to reinstall two windows. I have watched the video on YouTube and read the instruction - there is JUST NO WAY that these windows are going back into place; my husband came into Pgh and tried and my Father came up from FL and he tried too (Engineer) - something happens when you remove them- but to charge $125 to reinstall window coverings is highway robbery and I don't want anyone to get caught in the same predicament as I am in. During the wintertime, the Weather Lock windows did have condensation them and I did not see any improvement (as I was in the house for 4 mos last Fall during the Sandy storm, etc) as when we had thick plastic and wood trim (heavy duty insulation kit) -actually I think the plastic and wood trim was MUCH EASIER and MUCH MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT than spending $1000 for 2 lousy window coverings that once you remove, you cannot get back into place. I could have had two NEW windows put in for the price of these covers! I would NOT recommend Weather Lock. The house is For Sale and right now I have shown the problem to all potential buyers - so hopefully the word is getting out there NOT to repeat my mistake! I'd rather spend the money and purchase NEW windows than spend that much money to have 2 window coverings reinstalled for the 1st time - that have 8 screws (2 in each corner) - easily fabricated from materials purchased at Home Depot on your own personally - I would NOT go this avenue again; however the realtor advised us NOT to change the windows out prior to us moving - hindsight is precious but if I can prevent others from making the same mistake -I'm grateful to do so.
