DO NOT USE THESE GUYS FOR ANYTHING!!!
I was told to check out WeatherPro by someone who works for painting franchise, as we had contracted them to paint the exterior of our house and had mentioned we were looking to get our roof done too. At the time WeatherPro was described as a sister company to the painting franchise, which makes sense, they could trade referrals and whatnot.
Rick the "owner" came out to give us the estimate. We thought, wow, that's great the owner is coming out to walk us through everything. He talked about how long he had been in the business, how he'd been working up on roofs for years and years and showed us a binder full of accreditations and reviews. He seemed downed to earth and we felt like we could really trust him, that if there were any issues he would be a phone call away. We wanted diamond shingles and wanted to make sure that the crew was comfortable installing them. He said, "yeah, we don't do them a lot, but we've done them". We also talked about how we would find our own company to do the tear off, since we had asbestos-slate roofing. He said, "that's no problem, we work with abatement companies all time."
We signed the paperwork and were told we'd be hearing from Elizabeth to get everything set up. Then it began...
Elizabeth called and we set up a tentative start date in the spring of 2017. Mind you we were in no hurry, we just wanted it done before fall. Elizabeth said she would be coordinating everything and would be happy to coordinate with the abatement company. Great!
The start date grew closer and I didn't get any kind of confirmation so I called. Come to find out the shingles were not in yet. This is after I was told that even though they were a special order, it wouldn't be any longer than normal. This is where I wish I would have not been so understanding, cancelled the job and fought to get my deposit back. But again, we weren't in a hurry, so yeah whatever, let me know when they come in. A few weeks passed and I heard nothing. So again, I called. She said they weren't in, would check on them and get back to me. Never got back to me. I finally got a hold of her and said they weren't in but expect by the end of the week. I was now working with the abatement company and WeatherPro to figure out a new start date. A lot of phone time and coordination for something I'm literally paying tens of thousands of dollars for.
Finally! The day had come, but the day didn't look so great. I had been in contact with Elizabeth all week since there had been rain in the forecast. She was made aware by the abatement company that they did not tarp. I woke up early and tried to get in touch with Elizabeth via her cell to make sure we were a go. No answer. All the materials got dropped off, so I figured we were a go. The abatement crew arrived and we tried calling one more time. Nothing, so they started taping off the area and suiting up. Right as they started Elizabeth pulled up and dropped off some nails and staples. That would have been a great time to stop everything (Especially since we weren't in a rush) but all she said is, "we'll have to watch the weather".
The abatement crew continued and forecast didn't get any better. I called her to find out what the plan was. She then said she had already been pulling crews off or telling them not to start. I asked why she hadn't done the same for us. She said, "she couldn't, that it was our call". This is where the blame game and scapegoating started.
We tried to get a hold of Rick, but he was not answering his phone. It was starting to rain harder and we were getting desperate. Elizabeth (clearly in over our head) pawned us off to Matt the actual owner (as well as the owner of the painting franchise). He was quick to tell us that Rick was not the majority owner of the WeatherPro as previously explained. He even had the audacity to say that their crews were on "bigger jobs", almost bragging. At this point we were getting more and more upset, but continued to be understanding, we just wanted our house secure from the weather. Matt and Elizabeth were not willing to help. Not willing to get a couple guys to come over and tarp it. Luckily, DJK Environmental (the abatement company) were stand up guys. They went above and beyond, going to harbor freight to pick up tarps and then putting them on the best they could in 40 degree rain.
Another fun fact. We were told this would be done in a day. Elizabeth had estimated this, based on the fact once the abatement crew was done with the front, the roofing crew could get started. This was not true, the abatement had to be totally complete before the roofing could start. I only mention this because it just shows that Elizabeth should have never been in this role, she was clearly in over her head. I don't blame her, I'm sure she took the job as a secretary and maybe even a scheduler, but a project manager she was not!
So the DJK guys the roof fairly secure, but we wanted someone from WeatherPro to come check it out and make sure we would be secure until we could reschedule. Again, they made us feel like it was our fault and they were really going out of their way to have someone come over on their way home from work. Not one, I'm sorry or we understand. Just blaming us for everything.
I also noticed that there was no Drip-Edge or vent for our bathroom in the pile of materials. I can't imagine what they pull over on homeowners that don't know what to look for or what questions to ask.
So there we sat with for 3 weeks with a blue tarp on the front of our house. Finally, after calling every other day, we made the schedule. They were having problems finding a crew that was comfortable putting this type of shingle on. Which I get, except that the crew (all subcontracted by the way) that showed up the morning of the installation had never done that type either and frankly were upset because they'd have to change up their nailing pattern.
They were also going to redeck everything and cut up our siding when it was questions by one of the "leads". And I was told that we didn't need to do that nor did we need to spend the extra $3,000.
They got to work and everything was looking good, then just as they were finishing they realized they didn't have enough shingles to complete the house or to start the garage.
The crew did a decent job picking up the nails but in our patio there was a pile of garbage and materials that sat there for over a week. We also notice that our vinyl fence had been cracked during the installation. We reached an agreement about the fence after I showed enough proof and was adamant about being "sure that it wasn't like that before".
Finally a few weeks later the garage shingles were in along with what was needed to finish the ridge on the house. An entirely different crew came and installed that, but again they were short on materials. How does that happen twice?! After the first time wouldn't you order extra so there are absolutely no issues?! And they had the audacity to ask that I pay the balance before the garage was done. Can you believe that?!
Another week or two went by and the garage was finally finished. Two months of me having to be on top of a "business" to get what I paid for. Not one "We're sorry" or "Thank you for your patience understanding".
I called back this fall because I needed to patch the area where my chimney was removed, praying that I didn’t have to use them as part of my warranty. I spoke with Luke who was apparently in charge now. He did take the time to listen to this story and apologized on behalf of the company. He said I happened to "catch them at a very bad time". I felt a little better, hoping that I could count on HIM if I had any issues covered by their warranty.
I've been trying for to get a hold of someone, anyone to come fix some shingles that have popped up. Nothing.
I guess it’s our fault for not digging deeper and trusting a smooth talker. An expensive mistake that we will not be making again.
If you need roofing, siding, windows, decks or gutters Mitch at Ridge Top Exteriors. He’s really renewed my faith in humanity and contractors since all of this.

As Weather Pro Exteriors has just been taken over by new ownership and management, I am attempting to contact Mr *** to ensure he is taken care of, and if not, I will be doing everything in my power to see that he is. Customer satisfaction is now #1 with this company, and although Mr ***'s issues are from previous ownership, we feel we must take care of all past issue customers before moving forward with our own business plan.
