Weaver Bros., Inc. Reviews (1)

I dropped my [redacted] (122,000) miles off at Weaver Bro. [redacted] Monday 10/13/14 to evaluate cause of check engine light and ABS light. My appoint. was for 3:00pm and I arrived exactly on time. After about 45min, I was told that 3 main issues were diagnosed. 1) the ABS system wouldneed replacement (cost: 836.00); 2)the EVAP hose needed replacement (cost: 86.20); 3) Exhaust, Coolant/ Radiator Fluid leak due to excess pressure in cooling system because of slight Leak from head gasket. (Cost:2,352.19).By approx, 4:30 I was faced with the decision to agree to pay this amount 3,274.53 for repairsor refuse and drive the car back home to wait and take care of the issues later. Since this is my only car, and I was informed by my then trusted choice reputable authorized [redacted] Dealership agents and I did not have the opportunity to spend time investigating whether this should have been the proper cost of repairs b/c I always trusted this company and never had issues before, and it is rare for me to have week days off such as Mon. 10/13/14 to arrange to take my car in, I agreed to have the seemingly minor but expensive work done which I was lead to believe would not take longer than 1 day to complete. I received a message to call [redacted] on Wednesday 10/15/14 at 8:20am. I was not sure what happened, but when I called around 10:30am I learned that the mechanics disassembled my engine and somehow, as the bolts which hold the engine together were removed were coming out, since they were "so badly disintegrated/ corroded", 2 of the 12 bolts which were removed became separated and now the 2 remaining screw particles can not be removed to restore the engine to its original status for me to drive it back home like I was able to drive it in to their dealership. The suggestion for me was to allow them to locate a used engine and get it installed at my own expense at their dealership or else consider buying another car where they would offer 400.00 ( for scrap metal) toward a new car. Now I have no carDesired SettlementAfter trusting this company over the last 5 years, I expect nothing less than to have the car restored to the same level of functioning as when it was dropped off to this company.I expect a proper apology from Mr. [redacted] as he constantly made reference to me being a nurse and being able to understand engineering concepts and accepting that my car is old and beyond repair, yet good enough for them to agree to work on it all these years and anticipate payment of 8,000if things went as plannBusiness Response We have been providing [redacted] service for over 55 years. That milestone doesn't happen by using deceptive business practices or overcharging customers. The allegation that the customer was forced into a decision to repair her car is totally untrue. The issues that were present when she brought her car in for repair were explained to her in detail. She authorized the repairs which included replacing her head gasket. While disassembling the upper portion of the engine two of the bolts broke in two, leaving the remainder in the engine block. A cursory examination of the bolts showed carbon had deteriorated two bolts that were beside each other. In fact, one bolt clearly shows an area about the size of a head of a pin, was the only thing holding the bolt together. The other bolt had about 50% more area holding it together. To put it another way, about 90% of one bolt's diameter was eaten through and about 70% of the other bolt diameter was gone. At that point we stopped work an informed the customer. She asked for alternatives and we informed her if she wanted to keep that car, we would need to replace the engine. We located a used engine and a remanufactured engine. Repair of the existing engine, in our opinion would be even more expensive than either replacement option. After the customer was informed about the alternatives, she asked to meet with me. I did so and showed her the deteriorated bolts, had the technician explain the disassembly to her and a male that was also present. They asked questions regarding the possible cause and the technician even showed her the matching carbon on the valves that was adjacent to the bolts. Even when presented with clear evidence of what had caused the problem, the customer wanted us to take responsibility for her car. I told her we had not done anything improper and had no responsibility in the internal issues of her engine. I attempted to offer her a used vehicle at a discount but she immediately refused, unless I would give it to her to "compensate her for her damages". I again related that we had not done anything wrong. The male that was with her indicated that they would call [redacted], and he would also talk to his lawyer. They walked off and I returned to my office. The customer and the male came in and she said she wanted to work something out so she wouldn't have to get a lawyer. I told her I was comfortable with our position and we were not going to be responsible for an internal problem in her engine. The allegation that I (name misspelled), "constantly made reference to me being a nurse" is not true. After repeated explanations by me, the technician, and even the male she had with her, she continued to maintain that we should be responsible for her engine. I did ask that if a patient was operated on and as soon as they were opened up something unexpected was found, would the doctor be responsible for fixing the additional issues? I only tried to frame our issue in a manner that might relate to her occupation. I understand how frustrating this issue may be for the customer. However, to allege that we broke her car or performed in a dishonest manner is inappropriate and not supported by the facts.
