Ms. [redacted] asked me to do some work including the purchase and installation of a large hot water tank. The funds in question are pertaining to the purchase of that tank. She stated she needed the large tank in anticipation of someone moving in with her but she wanted to save money given the overall...

cost. I informed her that [redacted] had a clearance sale going on for a group of hot water tanks, and that if that was the route she wanted to go to save material cost, we could use one of those. She instructed me to do so, I picked up the check and purchased the tank. After getting the tank, she then said she changed her mind, and also said she changed her mind about other work items I was to do. I had done some work to this point, including purchasing the tank, which I clearly informed her was not returnable because of being final clearance sale. Since then, she has refused delivery of the tank, has refused other work asked for, but then has also sent texts asking for me to do still other work for her. I informed her that at this point, I am just too busy and that because she cancelled numerous projects, that I just do not have the space in my schedule to put it back in. Also, because she cancelled and refused the tank, I am stuck storing it. I even offered to try to sell it for her to recover some of her funds, and would happily have returned whatever proceeds, but she said no.In short, I have done work for Ms. [redacted] and was not paid for it. I did buy the hot water tank as instructed, which was the reason for picking up the $1000 check, and then she said she wanted to cancel the work projects as it was no longer needed. I am now stuck storing the hot water tank, have offered to drop it off, sell it and return whatever proceeds, and I still have not actually been paid for work I did do.As this is my first time dealing with a complaint like this, I am not certain if I need to hire an attorney to file a formal response, or what the real process is. If possible, are you able to provide me some further direction on what the next appropriate course of action on my part should be? I am in process of trying to get the text message exchange printed out, and I am trying to itemize a list of work completed/receipts, etc. as verification of my position. I will also include a photo of the hot water tank as proof of that piece. Ultimately, this situation has been a no-win possibility for me and I have been stuck storing this water tank because she refused me dropping it off or installing it. As stated, I am happy to drop the tank off, which is what the funds were for, but I cannot return it for a refund and she was absolutely aware of that fact.I apologize for the inconvenience and sincerely hope for a speedy resolution. As stated, I am just not sure what else to do at this point because I did work for her, am storing the tank, and she has been so off-again, on-again that there is absolutely no way I can accommodate or keep up.I appreciate any further instruction or direction you can provide about next steps, or whether it is necessary for me to contact an attorney for representation. I would like an amicable solution, but the hot water tank is what the money was for, and I cannot return it for her as she was well aware. Again, any further direction on process would be appreciated and I will work on providing another email communication with copies of the text messages/invoice items as needed to further explain.Thank you for your assistance and understanding with this matter.Sincerely,Raymond E Weaver IIIWeaverHandyman.com
