This is quite simple.  This member signed up with us on 12/7/13 for a 3 month free trial - that is why she wasn't billed after the first month.  Nothing sneaky.  When signing up she agreed to our terms of recurring billing.  When she emailed us on 1/4/14 to...

request cancellation we replied to her email with specific instructions on how to cancel her account using the cancel form in her account section.  This process takes about 30 seconds and there is nothing to download.  All you do is write in a text box your reason for cancelling and you hit submit.  We do this for tracking purposes and this is very common business practice.  Well this member said she saw the email and for some reason instead of following the simple directions decided to call to cancel.  We have no record of any call from her and even if she tried to call to cancel we would have instructed her to use the cancel form.  So what this comes down to is she simply forgot to cancel per our instructions.  I understand this can happen (but this is the first time in 6+ years) and we refunded her payment.

Review: I enrolled in Therapy-Tribes for their 30 day no-fee introduction. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. This was at the beginning of December 2013. On January 6th I sent then an e-mail stating I did not want to subscribe to their website and wanted my account deleted. Note: in order to enjoy the 30 day introduction offer I had to provide my credit card information. Last week, March 20th or so, I noticed that Therapy Tribes had run my credit card and charged it for $20.00. I contacted them via email and was advised that I should have downloaded their cancellation form in order for my account to be deleted. I responded that my email telling them I did not want to use their services should have told them to delete my credit card information and delete my account. My complaint is that this was a one month free offer, I did not know that companies can store your credit card information even after you have told them you are not interested. I am also annoyed that they waited until March to run my Visa..... did they not run it in January so as not to call attention to themselves and then sneak it in in March. I believe, as a consumer, that when I tell a company I do not want their services they do not have my permission to charge my credit card. This means that they stored my credit card information against without my permission. I have all the emails from them.... interestingly, when I told them I had reported them to my banks' fraud department it was another person who emailed me and told me my account had been cancelled and that I would be refunded my money.Desired Settlement: These on-line companies that offer 'one month free' but insist on taking your credit card information are crooks..... I wonder how many unsuspecting therapist did not notice the charge on their bank account after they too had politely told the company they did not want their services.
