Webb Roofing signed a contract with Ms.[redacted] on March 13, 2013 for $15,294.50. This was an insurance job paid for by USAA...

Insurance. I would be happy to present both the contract as well as the a copy of the insurance adjusters estimate to you. The damage to the home was caused by large hail and included the following work; remove 2 layers of roofing material including wood shake, re-deck roof, replace roof with 3 tab shingles, replace custom bent metal around fascia and window trim on the front, right, and left elevations. Interior sheet rock repair and paint. Shed roof which was not replaced per Ms. [redacted].
No damage to the rear.
Webb Roofing agreed to do the work as well as adjust the foundation in the center of the home as best we could and build an arch out of wood on the front porch. We also gave Ms. [redacted] a credit for $2,380 for allowing us to keep a sign in the yard as well as in lieu of replacing the roof on the shed. We also discovered a MAJOR plumbing leak under her bathtub drain that had been neglected for years. We repaired this FREE of charge. In my opinion, this neglect caused the damage to her foundation.
Webb roofing completed the roof as instructed and also upgraded her shingles from a 20 year 3 tab to a High Definition 30 year Laminate GAF.
Again, FREE of charge.
We did replace the metal as instructed but she really liked the way the trim looked without the metal and did not like the replacement. We wanted her happy so we tore the metal off and did it again but she said she still did not like it and wanted us to leave the metal off, replace the rotten trim on her home, then paint it to bring it back to its original look. In the meantime she spent some of the insurance money on items not included in the insurance estimate and no longer had the money to pay us for the rest of the work. One of those items was work performed on the brick at the front porch. She stated that she paid a handy man $3000 to re-brick that small area which we had told her we could get done with our professional brick mason. Our cost would have been $600. She just did not want to wait for our brick mason. The following is an accounting of the job to this date.

This is her balance due. We did not complete the job because she did not have the money and decided not to go after her for breach of contract.
We have discussed with her doing the job and are still willing however, we must be paid for our services.
If we have made an error in the accounting portion of this transaction, we would be happy to admit the mistake with our apologies. I do have copies of her check and keep up to date notes on the exterior of every file including hers.

When I went to view the response to my complaint, the letter from [redacted], of Webb Roofing, had disappeared from your website. It took me time and a lot of work, having to look up a information, make phone calls to get other estimates, and compose my response to Webb Roofing's reply to my original complaint.
Webb Roofing took more than your allowed time to respond to my original complaint, and they strung me along for over a year and a half doing the work on my house, which they still haven't completed. I think it only fair that the Revdex.com be kind enough to be open to my legitimate response, which I have included below:
The siding installed by Webb Roofing had ripples and wrinkles running the entire length and circumference of the house. Not a single corner met squarely and all of them were bent out of shape. A messy application of caulk was applied to bridge the gaps and hide the damaged corners. It didn't work. Nails were driven into the metal haphazardly with no attempt to make them symmetrical. The nails created dents and dings over the entire surface of the siding. Seams were mismatched and offset. I have many photographs. No one with a brain would have been happy with Webb's siding job on my house.

[redacted] agreed with me that the siding his company had installed was a disaster, and after a second, worse attempt to do even an adequate job, [redacted] apologized to me and promised to make it right by patching and repairing the original wood in lieu of the aluminum siding.

The original siding was of heavy gauge aluminum backed by wood. It was installed years ago, and it was a professional quality job that looked very nice, but I had hail damage, and the insurance provided for repairs. I hired Webb Roofing to fix the siding problem and replace my roof. I paid them $7000.00 for this. On my little, 11,000 square foot house, that amount should have been more than enough to generously pay Webb Roofing for a roof and siding, and it was what my insurance specified.

Despite his sincere promises to return and finish the job he was paid to do, [redacted] mistakenly claims that he owes me nothing, even going so far as to claim I owe him. If that is true then [redacted] must think that it is okay to pocket my money and walk away. He didn't strike me as a person who was dishonest and a thief, so I must conclude that this is a misunderstanding. The problem is he has left me with a house without siding, with the chipped paint and rotting wood, and the leaks caused by leaving the house exposed to the elements for such a long time. For weeks I've tried to get in touch with [redacted], but he has refused to return my phone calls despite my calling him every day.

Webb Roofing employees stripped the siding from my entire house. The hail damage was only to the front and sides of the house. My insurance only paid for those damaged areas. Since I trustingly shared my insurance papers with [redacted], I don't know why [redacted]'s workers didn't have clear instructions on what to remove.

Perhaps Webb Roofing learned from the experience with my house that aluminum siding requires more skill than his subcontractors had. I don't know, but what I do know is that my house is not a training facility for beginners to learn how to put up aluminum siding. I also know that I paid money for siding and my house still has none.

This siding in question is nothing more than an eight inch strip of wood that closes the gap where the side wall of the house meets the underside of the roof. It's some paint and carpentry, not the Taj Mahal.

I've turned to Revdex.com for their help, and I'm hoping you can help us with a reasonable resolution. Please, either finish the work on my house or refund my money so I can hire someone else. The conditions of my mortgage are that my house must pass a yearly inspection. In its present condition it will not pass. Since Webb Roofing has the money I need to make the necessary repairs, I don't have the money I need for this. I stand to lose my house.

There was no "contract" as [redacted] claims. There was an "agreement to begin work," which gave Webb Roofing the go-ahead to start work on my roof. I was repeatedly assured by [redacted] that this agreement was a mere formality, standard to the industry, that it was not binding in any way, and never could be. These things were said in front of Webb Roofing employees as well as my friend and neighbor, who will gladly vouch for me on this, and honestly, I remember discussing such an agreement, but I don't recall signing anything except my own insurance papers from my own insurance company, which is how [redacted] has any monetary figures concerning my home. Whether I signed something or not, it's not possible for a piece of paper to be a simple work order one minute, and a binding contract the next. That's dishonest.

I wonder why [redacted] stated that I received $15,414.50 when it is written in those papers that I received $12,032.62. The repairs to my house required every bit of that money and then some.

I didn't and wouldn't have committed to give all of my insurance money to [redacted]. There were items such as the shed roof and the special replacement screen for my bay window, which had to be ordered by me from the manufacturer to name two.

[redacted] is mistaken when he claims that Webb Roofing fixed my plumbing, nor was it his employees who assessed the problem. They told me it was damp under my house. After waiting an interminable time for Webb Roofing to send someone by to assess the problem, I finally called my family's trusted plumber of many years. He came by within the same week, examined under the house, fixed the problem, and was paid by me.

The work on my front porch was part of the siding job, and according to [redacted], its most difficult part. Webb Roofing didn't do that part of the job either. I shouldn't have account for insurance money that was at my discretion to use as needed, but I'm happy to do so.

The older, very strong aluminum siding, which was now stripped away by Webb Roofing, had been helping support the bricks on the front wall of my front porch. [redacted] said his company could do the brickwork. I waited for [redacted] to get back to me on a price, and a date when this work could begin.
Time ran out for my house. The brick structure of my front porch wall collapsed. All the bricks clear up to the roof crashed down into my front yard. The entire front of my house was at dire risk. Cracks now ran along the outer and inner portion of the side porch walls, and threatened to collapse in a twisting motion, separating from the house. The loss would have been devastating. I urgently searched for a professional brick mason. I finally found and hired a highly recommended man who came within a few days and did a beautiful job.

I did not and still do not believe that a skilled brick mason can be hired to do such a job for $600.00 when the bricks alone cost over $400.00 at wholesale.

There is a lot more I could say, but though I trust the Revdex.com with any information I give, posting to the internet otherwise is, in my opinion, a bad idea, not for me but for any business with a reputation to protect.

The figures by my calculations are:
For the roof I paid Webb Roofing $4, 817. 04. For the siding I paid $2,182.

After the plumbing was fixed by my plumber and not Webb Roofing, and after several months of waiting, Webb Roofing did some work reinforcing a pier under my house. It took one man one day to complete, and I paid Webb Roofing $500.00 for it.

That accounts for the 7,500 I paid. In addition, some money must be added to cover the cost of siding for the whole house due to Webb Roofing's mistakenly removing all of the siding instead of three quarters of it. I added the price of doing the backside of the house, $812.00. Since the 12 foot front wall was supposed to be included in the siding cost, and since I had to pay a brick mason to do it, I subtracted $414.25 from my bill, which would be half of the bill for the front of the house. That leaves me with a total of $3,123. That means that above what I've already paid, there's still $637.23 of work or cash due me. There is a bit more painting I need, and if Webb Roofing will do that much, I will be glad to call it even.

I am one woman, alone and in my sixties, living on disability. I worked very hard to buy my house, and it is all I have. I urgently need the work I paid for to be done so I thank you so much for your time and consideration.

We were not happy with the way the siding looked on Ms. [redacted]'s home which in part was a result of years of neglect, not from her, but from prior owner(s). The steel siding that was removed is more rigid than the vinyl however, all that is a moot point since she actually wanted to go back to the original wood-trim and paint look.
Again, we are more than happy to do the work but must be paid.
Ms. [redacted] was "incorrect" in stating that there was no contract as attached to this email you should find a signed copy of the contract as well as the estimate from the insurance company which matches the contract. I also provided her a copy of the contract as well.
In looking at the contract, for $15,294.50, you will see that the total cost for roof was as follows;

The other work stated on the adjusters scope and the contract are for the exterior front, right, rear elevations, and tax which would provide the difference in the contract of $4,475.86

This does not include the upgrade for the laminated shingles, or any of the other work performed.
In my opinion, the brickwork to the front of the home was not done by a professional but by a handyman with limited masonry experience but, as you can see form the adjusters scope of work, was NEVER part of the insurance claim. The brickwork was an afterthought as a result of removing the siding which covered the deteriorated brick and mortar. She is correct that the siding was holding up the brick however, as stated, this was not discovered until later. We were only to replace the metal and I had offered to build her an arch out of wood.

The credits I offered her were for doing the complete job and being paid in full. The shed roof was part of the claim however, she elected to not have that done to help offset her large deductible.
We do want to resolve this matter and complete Ms. [redacted]'s home as soon as possible and would love to see her home completed.
I will add that she may be partially correct on the plumbing. I don't have a record of us fixing it however, it was also NEVER a part of the adjusters scope of work OR in the contract. We were just trying to help as we did in working towards leveling her home for no charge.
