I would not do business with Wedgewood Weddings. Before the coronavirus outbreak, we put our deposit down for a December wedding. That’s it. Nothing else has happened. As of now, we cannot send out invitations and expect people to buy airline tickets and hotels to attend our wedding. We are EACH taking a 3k a month pay cut because of reduced hours at work. Wedgewood will not refund or allow us to cancel the wedding to receive our deposit back. We need that money now to survive this pandemic. They want us to keep planning and paying (next deposit due in August) for a wedding that cannot financially happen now. You would think they would operate in good faith considering this is not in anyone’s control and they have literally not even lifted a finger except by reserving a date on a calendar. Not even a popular date. December 30th, a Wednesday. I am now dreading this entire wedding experience because I don’t want it to happen this way. Once again, I would refrain from doing business with such a greedy company. They obviously do not care about my happiness on my wedding day and only want our money.
Even
with the current COVID19 crisis, we anticipate that we will be able to host the
client’s wedding, which is scheduled for 8 months from now. They’ve signed a
contract with us, and the contract wording is, “Space Reservation Fees and all
payments made are non-refundable if the event is canceled, and non
transferable to a new date”. Because of this, we will not be refunding their
money if they choose to cancel their wedding.
These
are unprecedented times, and the COVID-19 information and restrictions are
fluid and ever-changing. While we cannot tell you definitively that your event
is guaranteed to happen at the end of December, we also cannot definitively
tell you that your event, in 8 months, will not proceed. It is
our hope that you hang in there with us. As a company, we will not be
hosting events until our local authorities approve social gatherings
again. At this time, Wedgewood is not aware of any formal local or national
COVID-19 restrictions or “stay at home” orders that extend far enough out to
affect the date on which your wedding is scheduled to take place.
If the
mandates were to change, and your December date is directly impacted by the
mandate, then it would be a “no fault” situation and we would postpone your
wedding and move your deposits to a new date.

I am rejecting this response because: Yes it is no fault of anyone’s here and due to these unprecedented times me and my fiancé have received very substantial pay cuts and were unsure if we can pay for this wedding now. Even if we have to move/ postpone the date it’s just wrong that during these times with COVID-19 and people losing their jobs that you are holding money and won’t let people get out of the date without penalty. We wanted to have a winter wedding and we don’t want to have to postpone our wedding. This is supposed to be a exciting experience with planning a wedding and this is far from the experience we imagined. It’s no fault of the company these are unprecedented times, and with the majority of our guests coming from out of state we need to be able to send save the dates and eventually invitations and give our guests enough notice and there is no way to do that currently.
