Review: had a wood burning insert installed with all pipe work. had a chimney and inspection company come to my home and clean and inspect. instillation of product is wrong and is not safe for use and is going to cost another $1650 to remove and reinstall right. pipe joints where not sealed properly, chimney cap was not installed,6inch pipe was used and requires 8inch pipe, insulation was not installed around new chimney pipe which allowed to cool to fast and had excessive build up and could not be all the way cleaned. I have all receipts for original work installed by Weis works and a cost estimate for repairs from "Homesavers chimney relining systems." this company performed a cleaning and inspection and I was told that it is not properly installed or safe to use.Desired Settlement: would like to have a full replacement of piping duct work for wood insert by homesavers chimney company. replacement paid for by Weis works insurance company.

Weis Works fully disputes this claim. Mr. [redacted] purchased a used Country Performer CA210 wood insert and stainless steel chimney venting components October 15,2012. The stove and venting are listed for use in Washington State and were installed in accordance to standard installation procedures per manufacturer of both the stove and venting. A chimney cap was also installed. The insert in question is listed to be vented with six inch pipe, not eight inch. Insulation is not normally installed in the relining of a masonry chimney in this area with an intact clay flue. If there is a specific reason to insulate this type of installation it could have been done at an additional expense. In Mr. [redacted]'s installation we saw no need for this added expense being it had a relatively short chimney which had a good clay flue liner and again not needed in this climate zone.

We believe the perceived above normal build up in Mr. [redacted]'s flue is due to three possible reasons. 1. Lack of frequent chimney cleaning. Mr [redacted] decided to use this insert as a primary source of heat and he burned it 18 - 20 hours a day. The manufacturer suggests it should be checked monthly with this usage. 2. Mr. [redacted] may not have been burning the stove hot enough to avoid creosote build up.3. The wood that was being burned had too high of a moisture content.

It is our concern that the chimney cleaning company is just trying to get an up-sale of their cleaning job by putting fear into these unsuspecting home owners. It is our opinion that they should get several more inspections before scheduling the work suggested by this company. Again there was nothing unsafe about the venting we installed at the time of installation.
