To Whom It May Concern:Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the complaint (ID# [redacted] ) the Better Business Bureu (BBB)received about Weiser Memorial Hospital (WMH). Our goal is to provide compassionate, quality patient care.We strive to constantly evaluate our service, and we take every... patient concern seriously. The complaint you received showed frustration on our patient's behalf with WMH's billing services, includingnot correctly applying payments received to this patient's account and receiving ''past due amounts andharassing phone calls from their financial group". We are sorry that this patient's experience has beenfrustrating and will attempt to explain the situation further. The initial bill from WMH was sent to this patient at the address we had on file. When this bill was returned tous as undeliverable, this account was sent to our outside billing associate for further attempts to contact thepatient. Contact was made, and a payment arrangement was agreed upon of$150.00 per month. When thepatient notified our outside billing associate that they needed a lower monthly payment amount, a six-monthdecrease in the payment amount, to $50.00 per month, was arranged. There were two payments made by thepatient that did not initially show in the system of our outside billing associate, when this error was identified bythe patient, corrections were made so that payments delivered physically to WMH would show within ourassociates records as well. At the end of the six -month agreement for the decreased payment amount, the patient's monthly payment duereverted to the originally agreed upon payment of$150.00. The patient continued to pay the lower amount of$50.00 per month, which left the remaining $100.00 of the agreed upon payment unpaid. This resulted in thepatient's statements showing their account to be past due. Our billing associate did contact the patient onmultiple dates to attempt to arrange payment of the past due amount. When the patient notified our associatethat they could only afford the $50.00 per month payment amount, the patient was put in contact with WMH'sFinancial Counselor, and a fmancial assistance application form was mailed to the patient. This patient'saccount has been brought back into WMH's internal billing-process, and they should no longer receive callsfrom our billing associate. We are awaiting the return of the completed financial assistance form. Once thisform is received, a new payment arrangement, that fits the patient's financial situation, will be agreed upon.
