On July 10, 2017 we were having new kitchen cabinets installed. Welland Handyman (***) was hired to install an exhaust vent for our microwave, witch required him to mount a roof vent on the roof and attach a 6 inch exhaust pipe that goes through the kitchen ceiling, the attic and the roof. He mounted the roof vent on the roof and said he secured the vent pipe. He finished working on the roof and said he was finished and was ready to go, so I went into the house to get his $200.00 payment (cash only) and found the vent pipe falling into the kitchen, obviously not attached. I told him we had a problem, *** came into the house and with my help we were able to push the pipe back up but he wasn't able to secure it to the roof vent. I paid him and he left. The complete time he took for the job was approximately 45 minutes. The next day the cabinets were installed, the day after it rained and we had water coming in our kitchen through the vent pipe and ceiling. I went up on the roof to cover the new roof vent that *** installed to stop the leaking and discovered that the roof vent was improperly mounted. It had lifted off the roof because it was on top of the shingles not under them as should of been and also the roof vent was cracked and had a hole in it which he tried to cover with tar so no one could see the damage. I called him immediately and told him what was happening. He made no attempted to repair the problem so I asked to have my money returned which he said he would but to allow him a week to do so. After many unreturned phone calls and more than two months we were finally able to make contact be E-mail when he said he would pay but allow him two weeks more. Its been now more than three months, and no more contact after numerous tries and still no refund of our $200.00.
Refund We require our $200.00 refunded fully and in cash
What he doesn't say is, I was finished around 4pm and around 7pm that same night, we had a very heavy rain (the black jack didn't have a chance to dry), which caused the leak. He didn't give me a chance to come and correct it, he just demanded his money back. I didn't ask him to push the pipe up, but that is what caused it to lift off the roof. He was constantly harassing me for his money

Mr. is absolutely incorrect about time and length he was at my house. He arrived at 9:15 am did the job in 45min. to an hour and left. There is no way that job took 7 hours, ask his helper. He had a chance to make repairs but didn't offer. It rained a day or two after he was done. As for me pushing the pipe up I did it at his request while he was on the roof, and why did he try to cover up the broken vent with tar? We certainly never harassed Mr. but simply asked him for our money back after weeks went by. All he had to do was respond in a proper and timely manner. We told him with messages that were never answered that we did not want to go this route but to do the right thing that any respectful contractor would do.
