WellSPY Reviews (1)

Sam Jorgensen Pump Co. is a California Corporation. WellSpy is a Well Video Survey subsidiary of Sam Jorgensen Pump Co., Inc. (SJP) On June 12, 2015, SJP went to 39572 Rd 64 and found that the 11/2 HP submersible pump was locked up and had to be pulled. Upon pulling the pump we found it to be set at...

86.5', in a 5.875" ID well, the standing water level (SWL) to be 90', and the well depth was 110'. Because the inlet to the pump is 11/2' below the top of the pump, the SWL was 2' below the pump inlet. I'm sure the SWL was at 90' and below the pump inlet because 315' northwest is an Ag pump pumping 1,000 gpm and probably drawing down 40' (25 gallons per foot drawdown) and another Ag pump 220' north pumping 600 gpm with an estimated 24' (25 gallons per foot drawdown). The net effect is this well SWL would be affected by one or both of the Ag pumps when they are running. We set the new 11/2 HP submersible pump at 96' (971/2' pump inlet). The 11/2 HP pump production is 25 - 30 gpm and would only cause a 1-2' drawdown in the 20' of water. At this time we told Mrs. [redacted] she needed to contact a well driller because she was going to need a new (deeper) well. This worked for 32 days, when we were called because they were again having trouble. We went out 7/14/15 and at that time the SWL was at 90', but I'm sure if one or both of the Ag pumps were running the SWL could decline below the 97.5'. So at that time we lowered the pump 91/2' (set at 1051/2'). Because the pump and motor are 321/2" long the bottom of the pump is 11/2' ± off the bottom of the 110' deep well with 20' of water. This installation of the pump in 20' of water was not Mrs. [redacted]'s problem, the problem was the two Ag pumps that were drawing down the standing water level below the inlet of the pump. Again, at this time we advised Mrs. [redacted] she needed a new (deeper) well. The Invoice dated 6/14/15 was $2,492.72 including labor and sales tax. And the 3rd line clearly states she was being charged %50 for a 5 year pump and motor warranty by the pump manufacture, Franklin Pump Systems (FPS). (No labor, nor other parts... just the pump and motor). The Invoice dated 7/22/15 to lower the pump the maximum 9 1/2' was $704.14 and on an Invoice dated 8/7/15 Mrs. [redacted] was credited $204.24 as a courtesy because we maybe could of lowered it on 6/12/15.So, she invested a total of $3,992.72 to have water while she waited for a well to be drilled. Why is SJP the being asked to make Mrs. [redacted] whole for the cost of the other pump companies excessive installation costs?I have some questions she should be asking the other pump company: I. Explain why a 1 1/2 HP pump that pumps 25 gpm and would only draw down the old well one foot (1') maximum would be a bad installation in 20' of water?II. When the other pump company moved the original pump did they not pit test it to ensure it was still good?III. If the original pump was in the old well only 32 days and the other pump company moved it to a new well why would it run for 16 months? My experience with this well driller is that his wells are so sandy and that is the cause of the pump failure not the 32 days in the old well.IV. The other pump company sells the same pump as SJP and they also know SJP sells all of these pumps with a 5 year warranty, the date code and serial number is clearly marked in each pump and motor, if they thought it was bad at 32 days, why did they not replace it at 15 months? Why did they not have Mrs. [redacted] bring the pump and motor to SJP for a full warranty at either of these dates? This pump and motor are still under warranty today. It is a very simple process, once we verify the pump and motor are no good we would hand Mrs. [redacted] a new pump and motor. She has been mislead by the other Pump Company/Well Driller when he is the one who should be writing this letter of explanation.Sam Jorgensen Pump Co., Inc. Ray Remy, Pres/CEO
