Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. As eloquent as ***’s response was this was not what he stated to my contractor Furthermore, [redacted] is confused as I received a phone call at on August from him asking if I needed a plumber He did not recall our prior conversation I will not nor do I need to defend my contactor as I am fully aware of his credentials Please also note that I did my homework (as the internet offers the top softener units) and chose wisely [redacted] has no knowledge of what softener unit I choose and to state I chose a lesser unit is somewhat slenderness I was told by [redacted] that the unit cost He offered to sell me a year old unit for This price is not too far off from a new unit of equal or better quality with a warranty Yet the bypass has two screws missing a the half that attaches to the line to the softener Regards, [redacted]

Once again, the bypass that is on the pipes is a complete bypass The screw holes are where the Culligan water softener attaches to that bypass. The customer's contractor sent me a picture of the bypass from his phone When I called the contractor on August 22, to explain that it is a complete bypass, the customer answered the contractor's phone. The customer originally asked us to remove the Culligan water softener We properly removed the softener and left the bypass so that she would continue to have water to the house until she or her contractor installed another softener At this point, we are unsure what complaints the customer continues to have. *** ***Culligan Water

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. As eloquent as [redacted]’s response was … this was not what he stated to my contractor.  Furthermore, [redacted] is confused as I received a phone call at 925 on August 22 from him asking if I needed a plumber.  He did not recall our prior conversation.  I will not nor do I need to defend my contactor as I am fully aware of his credentials.  Please also note that I did my homework (as the internet offers the top 10 softener units) and chose wisely.  [redacted] has no knowledge of what softener unit I choose and to state I chose a lesser unit is somewhat slenderness.  I was told by [redacted] that the unit cost 795. He offered to sell me a 10 year old unit for 400.  This price is not too far off from a new unit of equal or better quality with a warranty.  Yet the bypass has two screws missing a the half that attaches to the line to the softener.

It is unfortunate that the customer decided to remove a fully functioning Culligan water softener and replace it with a cheaper, lower quality unit.  However, that is the customer’s choice, and we at Culligan followed the same acceptable removal procedure that any plumber would have done. ...

We removed the unit, but left the bypass that was paid for at the initial installation of the softener.  The bypass that was left on the pipes is the bypass that fits that particular softener.  Any other softener, including a different Culligan unit, would have its own bypass.  It is standard procedure (for any plumber) to leave the bypass on the pipes until another unit is installed.  If we had installed another Culligan unit, we would remove the bypass and install the new one.  However the customer chose to hire someone else to install the new softener, and as such, it becomes that installer’s responsibility to remove the old bypass and install the new one with the new softener. The bypass is there to allow water to run through the house until another softener is installed.  This is standard plumbing procedure by any plumber or company.  If the bypass is removed and the pipes capped off, there will be no water running in the house.  In addition, there is no such thing as “half a bypass.” What we left there is the full bypass, and is essential for water running to the house until another unit is installed. It sounds like the contractor that the customer is now working with is not a master plumber and may be misleading the customer with lack of information. Also, the salt bags that we left in the customer’s basement were purchased by the customer and were her property.  We would have had no right to remove those when we removed the softener. As to the customer being unsatisfied with the price of the water softener, that is a personal decision and not reflective of our service.  As far as cost, the customer would have come out ahead if she had purchased the Culligan water softener that was already installed, rather than purchasing a new unit and having to pay for installation. Thank you, [redacted]Culligan Water Conditioning of Lake Mills
