This is a sub-business of the Wesley inn, with average rates being about $265.00 per week for two people with two pets. The average room rate for a nightly room is about $265.00 per day, as the nightly rooms are totally different and are located in the back of our privately owned property.
It is correct that we do not accept credit cards on the weekly rooms. This is for three reasons: The purpose of the weekly rates is to provide a very economical rate. These are NOT vacation rooms. The credit cards fees would raise rates. Secondly, the credit card paying guests rent the nightly rooms and they are required by state law, to pay sales tax of 10.5%. This would also raise the weekly rate. We have TWO distinctly different businesses here. A cash-only policy for weekly rooms simplifies our book keeping.
There are plenty of businesses that do not accept credit cards. There is nothing fishy about that. It is the option of every business to decide NOT to accept credit cards.
The nightly rate here at the Wesley inn is much, much higher than the weekly rate because it does include access to our beautiful grounds and our 70,000 gallon swimming pool, daily house-keeping service etc.
At the Wesley Inn, as everywhere else in the world, You get what you pay for.
The couple that came, rented a weekly room. On their check-in ticket that they signed, it clearly states that pool, house keeping, cleaning and our 3.3 acres of grounds, (which were not near their room) are NOT included in their room rate.
The guests asked about using the pool and I told them that the pool is for the nightly rooms which are located in a different area and are much more expensive. I asked them if they wanted to switch to a $265 per night room. These guests declined.
After a week's stay, the man came and paid for a second week. About a day later, he asked to borrow the vacuum. We do not lend out the vacuums. I asked if he wanted to have someone vacuum for an additional cost. He declined.
As I told him when he checked in, the room needed to be in the same condition at check-out in order to get the deposit back. That is the reason for the deposit.
On the check-in ticket which I can provide for you to see, it clearly states that they are NOT permitted to smoke in the room. It also states that the odor removal fee, if they smoke, in the room is $250.00. These people were also required to pick up after their dogs. They did not do this and I received several complaints from other guests.
These people disrespected just about every rule we have here. They smoked in the room. They left dog feces all over our front lawn. The room was NOT clean at check-out.
Legally and ethically, We had EVERY RIGHT to withhold their deposit. Nonetheless, I was very kind and merciful to them, even after the man was yelling at me when he decided to check-out a few days earlier. Additionally, He lied to the police officer and told her that he hadn't checked out. I can prove this also.
I refunded their security deposit as a totally undeserved kindness towards them. I have proof of this as well.
I am sad to say that, I will think long and hard about extending kindness like this again.
There is NO WAY that I will refund their second week's rent. After all, if things were so horrible, why didn't they check out after seven days?
I end with kind regards and the mercy to let go of my legal right to pursue payment due from this ungrateful couple,
