WEST COUNTY AUTO, INC PHONE[redacted]January 21, 2014 Ref# [redacted]To whom it may concern:This is the most absurd complaint I have ever answered.[redacted] was advised of hourly rates before we handled his recovery. At no...

charge, I had my lead recovery specialist go to the scene to examine the situation. He reported back to me with the findings. [redacted] was found at the end of [redacted] Township in anarea known as [redacted]. (Earlier when [redacted] phoned me, he said that he was in [redacted].)At the top of the hill he traveled down is a sign that was installed by the township. The sign reads "NO WINTER MAINTENANCE". His vehicle was approximately 400 feet down the hill and in the ditch. West County positioned a heavy duty wrecker at the top of the hill, connected a light duty wrecker to the cable and lowered that wrecker 250 feet down the hill. Then the light duty wrecker deployed another 100 feet of cable, for a total of 350 feet. Then a 100 foot extension cable was added. Then West County recovered the vehicle out of the ditch and winched both the light duty wrecker and [redacted]' vehicle to the top of the hill. This procedure is referred to at West County as a Dumbo Drop. This expression makes more sense if you ve seen the movie. After the recovery was done, [redacted] told us that he didn't have any money or credit cards. He then called a relative for a credit card number. As far as rates, the heavy duty truck was billed at $230 per hour. That same truck when running an emergency drop and run for the Pennsylvania State Police is charged at $400 per hour and the light duty is charged at $175 per hour.To my knowledge West County is the only towing and recovery company in Erie County that is equipped to due recoveries on [redacted] hill. Most all of the other towing companies that get a call for that hill, always recommend the call to West County.West County has handled dozens of calls for the [redacted] hill. I personally spent an entire night (until sun up) wedged against the guide rail halfway down that hill with a light dutv wrecker on a bad recovery.[redacted] was treated fairly and professionally by West CountyWe did not receive the first complaint letter. West County forwarded the P O Box 411 to our South Florida office the first of the year. Two or more weeks of mail has been lost or delayed.Thank you,[redacted]president
