The business states that the computer cannot be bought back for the full priced because the computer has to be wiped clear of any personal information added by the customer and that takes time and costs the business moneyThe business is still willing to buy the computer back at 50% of the purchase price

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below If West End Geeks can wipe clear of any personal information from the computer, I would assume that means that he would need operating software to do soIf that's the case then they should be able to install the "East Asian Languages" fonts that come with the operating system, therefore resolving the problemI've attached a screenshot again to show what I mean If West End Geeks cannot install the fonts needed that come with the operating system, it proves that they don't truly wipe clear the laptop of any personal informationIn order to completely wipe out a computer it would need a new hard driveSince that usually doesn't get replaced the other options are to A - reset the laptop to it's factory settings (which would need the original CDs that came with the laptop), or B - wipe out the old operating system and install a new one West End Geeks did none of those previous options to the laptop purchased, because if they did, there wouldn't be a problem to install the East Asian Languages fontsThere's no need to wipe clean of any personal information on the laptop purchasedIt hasn't been used for the exception of trying to troubleshoot the problemAnd if they like, I can delete my internet history to save him the trouble and get my full refund back Regards, [redacted]

West End Geeks did not provide a solution to my responseHe also misunderstood what I needed on the laptopI came into the store fully aware that West End Geeks most likely does not sell laptops that are fully in Chinese.
I purchased the laptop for my dad, while he understands and can read in English - it's not his first languageSo, I looked up websites for Chinese newsI found that the Chinese fonts wouldn't load on these websitesWhen I tested the same website on my personal computer (the standard language is English), the fonts loaded perfectlyI know a little bit about computers and tried to troubleshoot the problem myselfI looked at Microsoft's website and other websites, and the conclusion was always the sameI needed to insert a CD that came with operating system on the computer to install the fontsI've attached screenshots to show what I'm referring to
I assumed that WEGs installed *** ** as the operating system on the laptop and therefore, would have the CDs to install the fonts that come with itHowever, I was mistakenWhen I called Louis to try and resolve the problem, it turns out, WEG does not completely wipe out laptops that purchase and then install a new operating systemThey just delete old files and applicationsTherefore, they have no way to install the "East Asian Languages"
When I found that out, I asked if I could exchange it for a computer that might have the "East Asian Languages" fonts loaded on the computer, in hopes of just trying to resolve the problemHe said that none of computers had it
Yesterday, Monday January 27, *** did contact meHe said that he could buy back my computer, but could not give me a full refund since there is nothing wrong with the computerAnd according to him, since there is nothing wrong with the computer, if that's the case, I should be able to return the laptop for a full refund

If West End Geeks can wipe clear of any personal information from the computer, I would assume that means that he would need operating software to do so. If that's the case then they should be able to install the "East Asian Languages" fonts that come with the operating system, therefore resolving the problem. I've attached a screenshot again to show what I mean.
If West End Geeks cannot install the fonts needed that come with the operating system, it proves that they don't truly wipe clear the laptop of any personal information. In order to completely wipe out a computer it would need a new hard drive. Since that usually doesn't get replaced the other options are to A - reset the laptop to it's factory settings (which would need the original CDs that came with the laptop), or B - wipe out the old operating system and install a new one.
West End Geeks did none of those previous options to the laptop purchased, because if they did, there wouldn't be a problem to install the East Asian Languages fonts. There's no need to wipe clean of any personal information on the laptop purchased. It hasn't been used for the exception of trying to troubleshoot the problem. And if they like, I can delete my internet history to save him the trouble and get my full refund back.

Review: I purchased a used laptop from West End Geeks, they advertise themselves as a computer repair shop and that they resell used computers. I noticed that my computer was missing languages that come with the operating system. When I called to see if they could repair my laptop and install the languages, the person working there stated that he could not because he didn't have the CD's to install the languages with and that I would have to pay $120 to get it fixed. I purchased the computer on January 20 and it has a 30 day warranty. I asked if there was anything he could do, or if I could exchange the laptop for another one that would have the language that I needed and he said no.Desired Settlement: The product that I purchased is missing elements of the computer that should be on my computer. Since it's not, West End Geeks should have the capabilities to install it, seeing as they are a computer repair shop. Since they can't install the languages on this computer that comes with the operating system, or exchange it for one that has it, I would like a refund.

Review: I recently purchased a tablet from this business, and the tablet could not download android related apps that I needed. It would've been fine if I could at least get an exchange or store credit, but I wasn't told that would not be an option from the salesman or on their website. The website actually states "We strive to be Leaders in our Community by providing affordable, excellent, refurbished laptops and desktops, with Customer Service always at the epicenter of everything we do!". Clearly that is not the case. I previously bought a notebook from the same company, it was advertised as having 4GB of RAM but had 3 and the right keyboard arrow was stuck. This was no big deal, they fixed it and it was forgiven. But to sell a device, and not even offer store credit or any type or return? Ridiculous. As a professional in the IT field, I cannot in good faith continue my business with this company or speak good of them to my coworkers and friends. A shame, because the prices are very good. I actually planned to make more purchases during the holiday season.Desired Settlement: At this point I'd like a refund as soon as possible and just forget about this. Even if that's not possible (unfortunately I believe that's the case) these people could at least offer more details of their policies online or in the store before customers make purchases. I made the assumption that I could at least make a return since every retailer offers that option ([redacted]) but nope. No return. No exchange. No store credit. An extremely disappointing experience.

Response:

Hello, this gentleman purchased a tablet from me about two weeks ago. He had previously purchased a laptop from me a few months back and is well aware of our refund policy that he is conveniently omitting from his complaint. We have a 30 day repair or replace warranty. It's on our website and on HIS RECEIPT. If an item we sell begins to malfunction to no fault of the user, we will either replace it or repair it, and I think that is fair and have never had any issues in my two years of business prior to this complaint.

The gentleman text me this morning, 2 weeks after purchase, stating that the tablet is not compatible with some of the software that his company uses. And I promptly informed him that unfortunately I could not give him a refund or a store credit because I have no way of knowing which devices would work for HIS JOB and which ones would not. I then told him, that as a consumer it is your responsibility to know which devices can work on your network and which cannot. We never discussed this while he was purchasing it. Now had I "promised" him that this tablet would work on his job's network, that would have been a different story. His complaint came to me as a total surprise, especially since he is a return customer and very well aware of our return policy.

We have a 30 day repair or replace warranty... clearly stated on our website and on his invoice / receipt. And since the tablet is not broken I cannot fix or replace something that is working the same as it did from day one. I do not think that is fair. I cannot for example go to used clothing store and buy some jeans for a job interview and then later wish to return those jeans because I later find out that the dress code requires dress paints for interviews. I think that it would be my responsibility to find out what exactly would work for my exact needs... just as it is his responsibility to find out what devices work for his job and what does not!! Tablets are designed for play and are really not suited for a business environment. Had he even mentioned that this was for work I would have guided him towards a laptop and not a tablet!! But he literally spent about 2mins in my store from the time he walked-in, purchased it and walked out. I do feel bad that it is not compatible with his job's network but he never mentioned anything to me about buying it for work... and the tablet works right now the same as it did when he purchased it two weeks ago.

The x-factor in this entire debacle is his assumption that the tablet he purchased would work on his job's network. He probably should have checked with his job first or did some research prior to purchase to see what works for his job and what does not.

I hope that we can come to a viable outcome.... sincerely,
