I wrote a check to West Florida Medical Associates on 5/5/19 in the amount of $197. It was cashed. There is no mention of it on the Patient Portal and I keep getting bills. I brought in a check image that shows it was cashed to the Beverly Hills office on 2/20/20 along with my new insurance card. I just received another bill with no mention of the payment or trying to bill my insurance company who does not pay for wellness visits since I do not need them.
I went in for a med refill on 1/30/20 and saw a nurse practitioner for a few minutes, maybe 10, and was charged $140 for an intermediate visit. I consider this an overcharge for seeing a Nurse Practitioner to get my medication refilled ("how are you" "fine" "any problems" "no" "cholesterol is a little high, but I will call in the refills"). As an LMHC, I can only see clients if it is medically necessary. A visit every 3-4 months is NOT medically necessary for me as a fairly healthy, still working, 64 year old.
I feel disrespected in the office as I brought in my medications for the first appointment and they were totally ignored and something else was written up. I DO NOT Take Xanax 2x/day. I still have anxiety, which has never been discussed, but only use the Xanax if I really need it as it causes me to be sleepy.
So 2 problems:
1. Billing
2. Disrespect by staff (not the dr, who is Dr. Alugubelli V)
I need assistance in solving both of these problems.

Desired Outcome

I want credit for the amount I paid. I want the appropriate amount for the visit of 1/30/20 to be billed to my insurance company (new Insurance card given to the Beverly Hills office who copied it and gave it back) so they will pay for the visit (medication refills) and I want to be treated with respect, not as a 'cash cow'.

We received a letter of complaint by patient *** regarding a billing issue. I originally was not the one who was taken care of this matter, so I reached out to the patient regarding the issue. The patient explained to me that she brought in the correct insurance card but still the claims were not getting paid. The patient stated that she called her insurance who stated that our office was billing the wrong insurance. I apologized to the patient regarding the issue and I assured Mrs *** that I will speak to our billing company. After speaking to the billing company they resubmitted the claims to the patient's correct insurance and the claims were paid and a $70 credit has recently been sent back to the patient. I called the patient to explain that the billing company resubmitted claims and that we have mailed out a $70 check for the credit that was on file. Mrs. was pleasant said thank you. The issue has been resolved.

The only Eason I am responding 'no' is thia is not the whole story. Someone from the Dr's office did call me and still insisted I owed them money even through there is no record on the Patient Portal of the $197 check that was cashed by them in August, 2019. I was told the Dr would "write off" the $80 I supposedly owned them, when they owed me $70 due to the non-posting of a cashed check. This still does not seem right, but I think the new insurance company would only be paying for part of the new visit, so I am considering it closed. But I will never go back to that office because of the way they treated me.
