Patient started treatment with us in May 2011, Insurance information was given at that time. We billed the United Concordia insurance and they paid $of the $life time max on the account and then insurance told us that the policy was terminated as of 9/1/
and no further payments would be made. The balance that was billed to insurance was then transferred back to patient responsible. We also tried to verify benefits for MetLife and the insurance could not locate the subscriber in their systemWe were able to get updated information from the responsible party for the insurance with MetLife. We called and verified benefits with them and they told us there was no Orthodontic coverage under the policy for Metlife Motor Carries. We also verified benefits for Metlife Active Duty and because the policy with United Concordia was terminated on 09/01/so there were no benefits with Metlife. The office did receive new insurance information with BCBS as of 3/11/and it has been verified and billed. It will take at least months for us to see the first payment from BCBS as they only pay Auto Quarterly. The account has been paid off by the responsible party but patient is still in treatment. If the insurance does pay on the account then we will refund the responsible party what is due her back after treatment is complete and insurance has completed their payments. The other issue was if we were giving a discount for multi family members. The responsible party has received a payment discount that is above our family member discount
Patient started treatment with us in Aug 2012. We called and verified benefits with MetLife Motor Carries and found that there was no orthodontic coverage. The Metlife Active Duty could not be billed as the subscriber could not be found due to the policy being terminated 9/1/2011 with United Concordia. There was never any other insurance provided until we received a new insurance card for BCBS as of 03/11/2015. We verified benefits and have billed this to the insurance. It will take months to see the first payment on this as they pay us Auto Quarterly. The responsible party will still need to make payments on the account until insurance pays, as patient is still in treatment. Once insurance completes their payments if there is a credit on the account the responsible party will be refunded the amount owed back to the patient. We also gave the patient a discount on payments that was above our family member discount.
We would be happy to discuss this with the responsible party as she has asked to speak with Dr***. We were not aware that she had concerns regarding the accounts until recently. Responsible party can call the office to set up a time to speak with Dr*** with any concerns they may have. If you need any further information or have additional questions please let me know
