The driveway that West Jordan concrete installed is falling apart and started after 6 months. The owner Jesus will not take responsibility for it.

West Jordan Concrete Response • Apr 24, 2018

To whom it may concern,

West Jordan Concrete guarantees it's work for 1 year starting from the installation date. From our recollection, this client did contact us indicating a problem with their driveway. We did attempt to contact them over a period of time, however communication was poor as the client was hard to contact, no answering of phones or being available in person. We had a Jack Parson Concrete sales person visit the site and indicated to us that from what he had seen, the specific damage on the driveway was caused by the use of salt on their driveway during the winter. This salesman visited the site when the client first contacted us and last week. All indications show that salt was used and the clients are advised to not use salt during the winter, as it will cause this specific type of damage. We have tried calling numerous times and to no avail, however the client has responded to us by email. We are committed to helping our customers out, and are willing to pay for part of the damage however not for the total cost. We have also spoke to a gentleman which was the husband and we had come to an agreement in the past that we would help them out. We take pride in our quality and customer satisfaction, however it is very difficult to solve and do business with a client that won't answer phone calls or won't show up in person. As we have indicated we are willing to help out this past client.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Mr. M business associate certainly is not an impartial observation for the premature spalling of my driveway. Also, I have never met Brad A from Jack Parson's concrete. Concrete is the most important component in avoiding spalling. Poor finishing and the use of water to aid in the finishing process and over finishing create a weak surface. Which causes premature spalling in a new driveway and salt from the road will expedite the spalling of a new driveway. Mr. Jesus M still will not hold his company accountable and would like me to pay for the poor quality of the concrete in my driveway. I find it hard to understand his lack of customer service. I would like a meeting with Mr. M and a concrete contractor from PC (of my choice) for an unbiased opinion.

Sincerely

West Jordan Concrete LLC has 20+ years experience in the concrete industry, and with this experience we have extensive knowledge on how to properly install concrete from layout, to preparation, to placement. We guarantee our work for one year from the installation date, which is standard for most concrete contractors. Six months after the installation date we observed the slab and found no premature deterioration that would warrant a full replacement. We have a solid reputation working with our customers and fixing any issues that may arise within that one year of warranty. We had Brad A, a representative from Jack Parsons Company observe the slab recently to see if the slab was due to a bad batch of concrete however he insisted it was due to the use of salt, whether it be from the highway or by the customer and that it has been more than a year from warranty. His opinion is far from being biased as he represents the concrete company that we used in this pour. We are willing to work with this customer and pay for part of the cost but not the entire cost due to the amount of time that has passed from the warranty date. This customer refuses to give us a call and come to an agreement. We are extremely busy, however we have the time to resolve this matter. We are willing to help this customer with part of the cost. Please give us a call to resolve this matter.
