Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint I stick to my original letter I did ask for a free estimate I was told I had to pay for the work already done on my van without permission and that they had not yet done the spark plugs that it would cost even more to get that doneI did apologize for losing my temper and he did extend his hand out to shake but that does not change the fact work was done without permission and I was forced to pay for the work they had done up to that point after specifically requesting a free estimate when I dropped the van offHad I been told it was not free I would have immediately left and drove to advanced auto who normally does it for free, I only went there on a referral from my mechanic who was to busy to take a look and who also does not charge for an estimate on repairs and certainly does not do work on my car without prior consent Regards, [redacted]

To whom it may concern: The car owner did contact me by phone on the day she picked up the car I was home sick I knew the window was broken from the 1st time the car was worked on and I knew the customer claims it was not broken when the tow company picked it up What I was not aware of as I said in my first letter was that the customer was blaming us for the breakage She made no attempt to contact me after talking to the tow company She slandered my reputation on social media and fired off a complaint to you.I had already instructed my employee as soon as I got off the phone with Ms [redacted] on the day she picked up her car that if she called back and told us the tow truck company denied the damage to find out if the glass was fixed or movable My shop cannot change fixed glass but we can change any movable glass I told him to offer to replace the window if it was in the scope of our shop for no labor and cost only on a piece of glass from the junkyard Probably or dollars from a local junkyard But she never called back.Despite this customer treating me like a liar and a thief that offer still holds I tried to call and left a message on her phone as soon as I recieved this letter.I will repeat here...WEST MAIN AUTO REPAIR DID NOT BREAK THIS WINDOW

I did in fact ask for a free estimate when dropping my van offI did not approve any work be done to the vanI called back within minutes after speaking to my wife about our finances not an hour. They never stated I had an option of having old parts placed back on and not being charged they said the work was already done and we now owed them money.

Mr*** brought his vehicle to us to diagnose a performance issueHe never asked for a free estimateI told him I would talk to him about an estimate for repairs after diagnosing the trouble code on his vehicleIn order to diagnose his full size van we spent approxhours removing the
inside covers, tech time on a computer and removing the distributor cap to inspectThe distributor cap and rotor were in horrible shape, but so was the one plug we removed so we installed the cap and rotor to see if it was the only current problemIt was so we then communicated to the customer what we had found and how much the bill was for diagnosis and replacement of the distributor capWe recommended spark plug replacement as well in order to prevent future damage to the new cap and rotorIt became obvious when talking to Mr*** that he did not understand that we did not do free computer diagnosis on the ignition system of a vanI told him that I had no problem putting his old distributor cap and rotor back on but that he owed me for the diagnosisHe stated he would call me backSometime within the next hour he called me back and approved the replacement of the distributor cap, rotorHe declined the spark plug replacement and I advised him he needed to do this soon or it would damage the distributor cap and rotorWhen he picked the car up he apologized to me for being rude and I apologized to him for any misunderstanding about diagnosisHe paid his bill and drove away, seemingly happyApparently notThe $is the total price for diagnosis and repairThe only labor charge was the diagnosisI already dropped replacement of parts labor in an attempt to please the customerThe customer may have had a legitimate legal issue if he had picked his car up without having approved us replacing the cap and rotor since he originally did not understand there was a charge for an estimateBut when he approved the work after we talkedhe approved the workHe looked me right in the eye, apologized and shook my handI took good care of this customerHis claim is unfounded. SincerelyDavid Murphy

Regards,
[redacted] I did not answer the owners call yesterday as it was weeks after the fact and it rains a lot in Ohio so obviously I had already paid the shop next to West main to repair it .In the voicemail he kept repeating "I didn't break your window" like a crazy person. So I'm not really inclined to call him back. I couldn't wait and continue to disagree with him until he hopefully someday accepted fault. It would have done me no good as I needed my vehicle to drive my children around in. So I cleaned up the broken glass inside and paid my hard earned money and got it repaired myself. I've learned a lesson from this. And I hope this will deter others from using this shop and having a similar outcome.
