West Street Servicenter, Inc. Reviews (3)

My husband ([redacted]) brought in my almost 15 year old car/truck ([redacted] in to have an emissions test done ($50/60). If it didn't pass, we were considering possibly junking the car. I spoke to [redacted] several times and told him each time, no, we don't want the car repaired; it's just in for an emissions test. He told me he took off the top of the motor and when removing fuel injectors, the O-rings cracked and the tray or something the injectors sit in also broke (because the car is old, that was to be expected he said). By now, we were up to over $500. I kept arguing with him and finally told him, put the car back the way it was, we'll pay for the emissions test and that's it. I said to him, don't you call and get authorization to make repairs, and he admitted, "yes, I probably should have called you." The next day I spoke to the owner who stated they got the bill down to $350 (they put only new O-rings and base in, nothing else was new, just my old fuel injectors, etc.), and that's it, we still had to pay it. My car is being held hostage by these people who made unauthorized repairs to the car. In order to get my car home, I will be contacting my credit card company and getting their opinion on whether to pay by credit card and asking them to also fight for me. Thank you.Desired SettlementI want to pay ONLY for the emissions test and I want them to release my vehicle. I don't believe I should have to pay for anything else.Business Response Just a short response to complaint report #XXXXXX. The consumer brought their truck to us because it failed Mass state inspection. They stated that they already had it diagnose at another shop but needed it done by registered repair shop, because they wanted to get a waiver. There was no talk of price at that time. Our shop labor rate is $70.00hr. In order to properly diagnose the truck the intake manifold needed to be remove to access the fuel rail. Testing found to faulty fuel injectors. At this point the consumer was in formed of cost, declined to repair truck. The truck was put back together, several o ring and gaskets could not be reused due to their condition and had to be replace to make the truck drivable. The consumer was charged for the time to diagnose the emission failure and time to reassemble intake. No repairs were made. Your[redacted]Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)They were supposed to do simply the diagnostic testing, no repairs, nothing else. [redacted] their mechanic (not the owner) admitted to me that he "probably should have called us" (at this point, the so-called testing was up to $550.00). I refused and said just put everything back the way it was. In my view, their own mechanic admitted their responsibility. As for the time used, that was their mistake. Final Business Response [redacted] the mechanic called to go over repairs needed for the truck an estimate of $550.00 was given. This was the price to repair and diagnose the truck. The customer stated that they did not want to repair the truck, the truck was then put back to drivable condition, some gaskets and seals needed to be replaced for the truck to be drivable. The bill for the truck was only for diagnostic time and labor to make car drivable as requested.

Did not return call for days while storage accrued. Did not tell me payment in cash only, so had to turn away truck sent to pick up vehicle. When my ** year old [redacted] car was in an accident on July 4th, the police had the vehicle towed here but did not tell me who had towed it, and when I called the police they had no record of the tow. I called the police again on the 7th and they told me a few places they might use. I found that it was here. The [redacted] who answered told me that the owner, [redacted] was busy and had to call me back. [redacted] didn't call me back for two days, even though storage was billed daily. When I told him that I had arranged for a truck to pick it up this week, he did not disclose that fees could only be paid in cash. When the truck arrived today at 3pm, he wouldn't accept Visa and since I was not in the area they turned away the tow truck.First of all, he should have returned my call promptly since I was being billed a daily rate. Second, he should have told me that payment was cash only when I told him that I was sending a truck to pick up the vehicle. I feel that this is probably a scam to keep my storage bill increasing, so that it will be less expensive to sign the title over to him than to sell it to a salvage company.Desired SettlementI am seeking for the owner to release the vehicle to me the next time I can get a truck to him to pick it up, and to pay no storage fees due to the trouble coordinating the pick up of the vehicle.Business Response Mr. [redacted] car was towed here over the 4th of July weekend,by the [redacted] from an accident. He call early in the week to see the condition of the car. I was very busy and did not have time to inspect the car till late on Tuesday the 8th. I called him on Wed the 9th, informed him that in my opinion the car was a total lost. I offered to take the car for the tow and storage bill, he stated the car was worth more. I did not here back from him until July 18th, when he sent a tow company to pick up the car. The driver was not ready to pay the tow bill, and left. It is our shop policy that all police tow are cash only. The car could have been removed from here much sooner to lessen the storage bill.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)It is not true that he did not hear from me between July 8th and July 18th. I spoke with the business on the 15th and told him that I was sending a truck to pick up the vehicle, and at that I would settle the balance when it arrives. At no time was it disclosed that cash only would be accepted, even though I had spoken with him twice and a [redacted] who works for him at least twice. Nor is it disclosed on their website that they only accept credit cards for SOME of their services. In fact, the website clearly states on their home webpage that Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted. I believe that he refused to accept my payment on the phone so that the tow truck would leave and I would be left with no other choice financially but to sign over the title, in addition to cash for storage and towing fees.Final Business Response I will update my web site to state that police ordered tows must be payed in cash. I will not refund any money, The tow and storage at the time your tow truck was here to pick up the car (July 18) was $620.76. On Monday the July 21 was $725.76. You got a good deal with the title and $300.00. The car was disposed of at [redacted] in [redacted] which only brought in $300.00 and I had to tow it to them. Final Consumer Response To clarify a few things, I submitted this complaint on Friday or Saturday before the Revdex.com had opened for business. Worried that this treatment was going to continue longer and longer while the amount of storage he sought increased, I sent my [redacted] to pay what he wanted along with the title that following Monday, receipt attached.I would feel settled receiving a refund for the cash she paid that day, $300. While I feel wronged, this would give him what he wanted originally, which was the title.
