Western engine supply did rebuild a AMC engine and installed it in a jeep for *** *** on 7/22/The vehicle had XXXXXX milesThe engine rebuild with removal and installation and additional performance items and modifications
totaled $I believe that the engine that we replaced was a rebuilt engine that *** had rebuilt by another shop shortly before coming into our shopIn April *** ***'s mechanic called and stated that they had been on a trip wheeling and the check engine light had came on and they continued to drive the jeep and the engine started to make noiseThe mechanic stated that he knew that it was not a warranty but if western Would look at it and help *** if they could*** brought the engine to western and upon inspection western found a scored/seized #cylinder piston and tight piston pins, all intake valve face were distorted (meaning the center of the valve was being sucked inward or upward due to heat and were a orange color from heat alsoThe center of the front heat tab on the engine block was starting to melt out and the back heat tab center was meltedThe heat tab being melted informs western that the engine had been overheated due to water temperature or metal temperature from either a lean air/fuel mixture or a restricted exhaust*** called Western checking on the status of the engine and was informed of the damage and informed his mechanic in the background of what had been found and told his mechanic "we know what happened" and then continued to explain that his original FASS fuel system had failed times and that he finally took it off of the vehicle and installed a different fuel systemHe continued to tell me that he was driving on Iat 80-85mph when the check engine light came on and that he continued to drive the jeep until the engine started making a noiseHe stated "the high speed probably wasn't good for the Jeep"he told me to do what we could for himWestern's repair on the engine was $not $it is our ro#XXXXX dated 5/4/and the customer does have a copy*** picked up the engine on 5/4/and had his mechanic install the engine*** left a message on Westerns voice mail on Sunday 6/14/stating that his engine is making a valve train noise and that he is going to contact his attorney and that my next contact would be from his attorneyI received the message from *** on Monday 6/15/approximately 6:40amI waited until about 7:15am before I called ***I got ***'s voicemail and left a message for *** to contact me to see what the problem was*** called back about minutes after I left the voicemail and explained that his mechanic can hear a noise in the engine and thinks it is in it is a valve train noiseI explained to him that we could look at the vehicle if he could get it to us and he informed me that he has *** and that he would contact them to have the vehicle towed to westernWhen the vehicle arrived on 6/15/I started the engine and immediately shut the engine off because the oil pressure gauge in the vehicle read oil pressure*** called to confirm that we received the Jeep and I explained the oil pressure reading and he told me that it does that a lot and all you have to do is "flick " the gauge to get a readingLater in the day I confirmed that we thought there was a valve train noise as well and had to wait until later in the day to get the vehicle in the shopWe moved the Jeep into the shop mid day on 6/15/and removed the valve cover and saw marks on the valve cover where the valve springs or retainers had made contact with the inside of the valve coverI also saw that there was a lifter in the #cylinder was spongy and a lifter in the #cylinder that was spongy as wellI changed pushrods and rockers on the cylinders mentioned above and the noise would come and go but would not go away totallyI decided to remove the engine to see if there was any other concerns or just the cylinders mentionedWe disassembled the engine checked everything and put the engine back together with new gaskets and a new set of liftersWe started the jeep and it was quietI saw that the Jeep had a stock exhaust system that looked from and recommended an upgraded exhaust system and *** told me to get him a quote and I did from Exhaust Pros and *** told me to have it doneI just charged the invoice price that Western paid at Exhaust Pros plus taxwestern also saw that the fan clutch was not engaging 100% which could cause a overheat condition and informed *** of thatI also put the gas analyzer in the exhaust and the reading was at co and hc or the machine was not reading correctlyI informed *** of this and that he should have his mechanic check out how they set up the fuel injection system*** came to pick up the Jeep on 6/XXXXXX*** came back to our shop with a front end noise that we determined was the front differential in the Jeep moving*** stated that he had just put new u bolts and lift pads on the Jeep and that retightening the bolts was on his list to do that just didn't get it done before the Jeep was brought to western*** did leave a message after closing on 6/19/stating that he had a check engine light come on and was going to stop at a local auto parts to have it looked atWe have not heard from *** since 6/19/

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 22, 2015/07/13) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
There are a couple of accurate details in this response but a complete cover up from my perspective. These are not the details I gave him nor the story of how the engine blew up after his first attempt at rebuilding itThe motor he received was not modified in any way and the parts that failed were the parts he replacedMy mechanics will testify as they were on board for this whole nightmare
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 33, 2015/07/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No physical proof of any voided warranty had been provided by Western Engine backing up their claim of a voided warrantyThese are all just words provided by *** in order to keep stealing money from people whom had Western Engine provide faulty, shoddy and unprofessional engine workAs I stated before, if he saved the parts, now would be a good time to produce them for me to have a second opinionOtherwise I find it impossible for Western Engine to back up this refusal of reimbursementI also find it strange that when I took it down to them after rebuild #with engine clatter they tinkered with it until they received my Revdex.com complaintThen decided to pull the motor out and do a more thorough repairAt which point gave me no explanation of what the problem was that needed to be repairedKeep in mind I did not trust the quality of repair in the first place and was tempted to sell the motor and have a trustworthy shop rebuild one for meHad I sold the engine I might have found myself in quite a predicament as it was not properly rebuilt
Final Business Response /* (4000, 35, 2015/08/06) */
A customer can request to have parts returned at the time the work is performedYou can not request parts 75-days after the work has been performed
