Mr***'s mower did not run when he broght it to our shopThe fuel line was broken off the carburetorThe mechanic did not replace the
carburetor because it was an original Walbro brand carburetorA new carburetor would cost about $and the mechanic fixed the old carburetor for $worth of partsIf Mr*** wants to pay the difference in price we will install a new carburetorThe price of the fuel cap was refunded to Mr*** and we let him have the new cap as the old cap has a 3/16" hole in it and is unsafeThe fuel shutoff valve is a safety device that is standard equipment on most riding mowers.Without it, there is no way to turn off the fuel should a leak developSince Mr***s mower did leak fuel, we believe it needed that safety valve and it only added $to his billOnce all the fuel leak issues were resolved, the mechanic checked the oil and found it black and very lowSince the motor was leaking fuel into the engine and the engine was not running correctly, the oil can be burnt and blackend quicklyWe won't run an engine with low, black oil as that risks blowing up the engine. So we changed the oil and he was billed $for oilOnce all this was done, the engine would not run correctlyIt was missing because the ignition coil was badThe new coil was installed and that took care of the problemWe gave Mr*** the old coil when he picked up the mowerI called him and offered to discuss with the mechanic and install the old coil if he desires it to run bad.The coil was $Mr*** did not return our phone callIf he wants to make an appointment with our mechanic and bring his mower back to us we will install the old coil so he can see how it runs with a bad coilIf we had done just what Mr*** wanted, the mower would have been unsafe, he could have blown up the engine due to lack of oil,it would not have ran correctly, and his bill would have been much more than it wasBut if that is what he wants, call us and make an appointment and we will do it while he watches

Mr. [redacted] is correct that he did purchase a new mower on 5/5/09 and that it came with a 2 year engine warranty from the...

manufacturer, Briggs and Stratton. Using opti-oil would have extended that warranty but the engine failure that Mr. [redacted] occurred because the engine was ran out of oil and ingested dirt through a dirty air filter which is not covered by any manufacturer's warranty as it is the owner's responsibility to maintain the engine by checking and adding oil as needed and cleaning or replacing the air filter. This was explained to Mr.[redacted] on 9/25/12 and he purchased and we installed a new engine for the mower. The mower was next in the shop on 5/30/13 for unrelated repair to hardware on the chassis. The chassis was out of warranty on 5/5/11. More repairs were done to the other parts of the chassis and transmission in 2014 that also we not covered by the manufacturer's warranty which expired in 2011.
The mower was brought in one time in 2015 to repair a wheel that had fallen off and he was charged $18.59 as his mower is again, out of the manufacturer's warranty. At that time we did tell Mr. [redacted] that he was wearing out the wheels as he pushes the mower 2.3 miles from his home to our location each way. We will continue to do our best for him and we have never charged him for any repairs that were covered by the manufacturer's warranty. But none of the repairs are eligible for a refund as they were not warrantable repairs.

Ms. [redacted] called and the business is going to sell her lawnmower for her and she accepts this resolution to her complaint.  She has requested that the Revdex.com close her complaint.
