Beware of this company!! I had a SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT 12/18/and no one had the common courtesy or business sense to call to confirm or reschedule Their business practice is 'SUSPECT' DO NOT USE THEM!! By the way, they advertise in the Penny Pincher paper, Sunday November 23rd ($Fall special)???

The business failed to do the work and is not returning the deposit paid. On 02/27/2014 I have received a proposal from "Western Mass Chimney Services"for a job I've requested - to replace chimney chase cover. I accepted the proposal. The complete price was to be [redacted] The contractor requested [redacted] deposit which I paid by personal check on 2/28/2014 for [redacted] which was immediately cashed by the above named business. I was told that the job will be done in the next two weeks- one week to manufacture custom made chase cover and then the installation would be done. By the middle of March, nothing was done. The contractor was blaming the weather, but even on a nice warm day, nothing was done. I have made numerous phone calls to the owner of the company, who always assured me that he will be "there tomorrow", only to not show up. I followed these numerous no shows by a phone calls only to be assured that it will be done - tomorrow. On Monday 3/31/2014 I was assured that the job will finally be done on Tue or WED 04/02 the latest. Again, no show. By Thursday 04/03 I've lost my faith that this business can complete the job as promised. I have a leak in my house causing water damage with every rain shower, so this is a time sensitive issue. I have requested a refund of the deposit, since nothing has been done thus far. I was assured that I will be given a check on Thursday 04/03. Again, no show and no refund, followed yet by another phone call, this time unanswered, followed by a text message that his phone does not work due to a damage to it by falling off of a roof and can text only - assuring me that my deposit will be refunded on Friday by noon. Again, no show, no check. Phone calls and text messages went unanswered. I called from a public phone - the representative of the company answered, stating his phone now works (he did not answer a phone call few minutes before that- made from my personal cell phone) and told me he will return the money tonight, followed by another no show. I believe that I have been lied to on several occasions by this company, causing a considerable delay in the repair of my roof- causing further water damage to my house. I have another company that is willing to do the job this week, but I need my money back so I can pay them - to actually do the job. Desired SettlementI am seeking a full refund of the deposit - [redacted] I am willing to pay for the manufactured chase cover - providing it's been even manufactured correctly and with valid receipt from the manufacturer.

Ongoing leaks into my attic, ceilings, walls resulting from a chimney that was rebuilt incorrectly with poor workmanship in 11/2011.Two of [redacted]'s workers rebuilt my chimney in 11/2011 for [redacted] Since this time I've had ongoing leaks. I've had the flashing fixed twice. After seeking professional assessments from reputable area masons it has been determined that the chimney was built incorrectly and the workmanship was poor. The mortar joints are failing and letting water into the chimney. The bricks are retaining water due to the chimney not being built correctly. The leaks are flowing into my attic, ceilings, walls and have ruined my new insulation as well and there are concerns about electrical damage and mold. I have to empty two buckets in the attic after every rain storm. There are holes in the mortar joints under the flashing. The step flashing was not done properly. The sloped cement cap at the top of the chimney is not pitched correctly. The top sections of the flue were not changed as agreed upon. Unless the chimney is taken down and rebuilt correctly, using proper materials and workmanship, the leaks and damage will continue in my house. I would like a full reimbursement so I can hire a reputable, Revdex.com accredited mason to rebuild the chimney. I need reimbursement for the interior damage as well.Desired Settlement[redacted] plus [redacted] for interior damage repairs.Consumer's Final Response Hello,[redacted] from Western Mass Chimney Services came to look at the chimney on 7/13/13. He said he was going to have a rep from the brick manufacturer come assess the bricks and if they are faulty, he is going to have them repay the cost of the chimney. I showed [redacted] my receipt from him, copy of the check he deposited and numerous reports from reputable A+ Revdex.com rated masons indicating that his chimney rebuild was poorly built thus the reason for the leaks and damage to my home. [redacted] did go up in the attic and verified the buckets had water in them, the new insulation was wet and there are leaks. I have not heard back from him and we are expecting substantial rainfall this weekend and I'm looking at more potential damage to my home. If he refuses to refund my money, where do I go from here? I cannot afford to put another chimney on. This chimney is destroying my beautiful home. The leaks are creating mold issues and potential electrical issues. Thank you,[redacted]Business Response [redacted] had us rebuild her chimney from the roof line up We did and after 2 months she called us back to tell us that the chimney was leaking I went to her house and found that she had a new roof installed and the roofers cut away our flashing and installed their own. Because the new flashing was not installed properly the roof leaked not the chimney I told her this and she said that she would take care of it Now two years later I get a message from her (that I still have) that she would like me to come over and fix the flashing that her roofers damagedShe then sends a complaint to the Revdex.com stating that she has reports from other masons that the chimney was built improperly. She complained from inferior brick (brick we have been using for 30 years with no complaints ) to bad mortar I went into the attic right after 2 days of down pours and found that everything was dry except one corner where it was running down the rafter. She had said that the brick was taking in the water and it was coming out in the attic I have pictures to show that the chimney is dry She hired another firm to replace the flashing and they cut a groove in the brick and installed new lead flashing again wrong None of the flashing is under the shingles on her roof just layed on top of it witch is against code The fact that the leak has been reduced to a very small spot from when it originally started proves that it is the flashing and not the brick If it was the brick the leak would be as bad as when it started 2 months after we built the chimney and right after the new roof was installedConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I am paying to have the flashing redone again (for the 3rd time). No contractor or mason thinks this will resolve the problem, but I will have the flashing re-done again. I will take pictures as well. The contractor I've hired to do this is highly reputable and has an A+ rating with the Revdex.com. If this final attempt to re-do the flashing does not work, I will stand by the many masons and contractors that state the bricks and mortar are bad, thus allowing water into my home. At this time I will take [redacted] to court for the cost of all damage to my home since 11/2011. I still have buckets in my attic to hold the water leaks whenever it rains. [redacted] has not kept any of his promises. 1. Having an inspector come inspect the bricks and mortar. 2. Redoing the flashing himself Note: [redacted] did not pull a permit for the job, nor is he a licensed mason/contractor, and he did not do the work himself.Business Response I have been there numerous times the fact that the leak is down to almost nothing proves it is the flashing If it was the brick the leak would still be as bad as it was after her roofers removed our flashing The [redacted] building inspector said he would not go on the roof. I will call her and if I change the flashing and the leak stops I will want compensation for the workBusiness Response Mrs [redacted] had us rebuild her chimney from the roof line up We did and after 2 months she called us back to tell us that the chimney was leaking I went to her house and found that she had a new roof installed and the roofers cut away our flashing and installed their own. At this time I will take Mr. [redacted] to court for the cost of all damage to my home since 11/2011. I still have buckets in my attic to hold the water leaks whenever it rains. Mr. [redacted] has not kept any of his promises. 1. Having an inspector come inspect the bricks and mortar. 2. Redoing the flashing himself Note: Mr. [redacted] did not pull a permit for the job, nor is he a licensed mason/contractor, and he did not do the work himself.Business Response I have been there numerous times the fact that the leak is down to almost nothing proves it is the flashing If it was the brick the leak would still be as bad as it was after her roofers removed our flashing The [redacted] building inspector said he would not go on the roof. We will not be touching the flashing because that is not the problem If it was the flashing the water would have been coming down through the ceiling upstairs. It is coming in through pipe which has separated from the cement crown and water is coming in through there if it is at all As you know I came there when it was raining right after you called me to tell me that it was leaking and found no water, no water stains and no towels, pans or buckets to support the issue of water coming in. But ** will come and address the issue non the lessOnce all these repairs are done I will have ** give you a paper to sign saying that we were there and addressed all of your concernsOnce this is done we will part ways and I wish you the best
