Western Mountain Optical Reviews (3)

Person came into our optical shop on 07/19/with an optical prescription from an area DOShe stated she previously had taken the same prescription to *** and *** had filled the prescription twice and she could not wear the glassesShe decided to try our optical shopWe filled the
prescription for glasses through the lab we use and she came to pick up the glasses and said they didn't workThe Optician told her to try them for a week which she did07/26/she came back into the optical shop stating she couldn't wear the glassesThe Optician placed the glasses into the lensometer to read the prescription to make sure the prescription matched the written prescription and it matched exactlyThe Optician told the person that she should go back to the DO that had written the prescription and be re-refracted as she has had three pairs of glasses that haven't worked for herThe person became very upset and said she would not go back to that officeThe Optician then came to me as the managerI explained to the person that we filled the prescription as presented to us and after three attempts, with *** and one with us that she needed to be re-refracted and to go back to the DO as it seems the prescription wasn't working for herI asked her what I could do and she said I want my money backI apologized and said I couldn't guarantee a prescription that wasn't ours and again told her she needed to go back to the person that wrote the prescriptionI told the person I could work with her if she would follow through with the DO but it was useless to fill the same prescription againShe said she would not go back there, she was going over my head and couldn't wait to go back to Florida where they knew what they were doing as she exited the door

The bottom line with this case is I have spent $333 for a pair of glasses that are useless to me. I do not have insurance, I'm sure the Western Mountain Optical does have insurance that would cover situations like this. They suggest I go back to the DO that wrote the prescription. I do not see the logic in that. Why would I waste my time and money to return to a DO that did not do the job correctly to start with? It is the optical shops business to know how glasses and prescriptions work; perhaps when I told them I'd had two failed attempts at [redacted] (who did refund the money) they could / should have had the courtesy to suggest I have my eyes rechecked before filling the prescription OR at the very least they should have told me they would not refund if the glasses did not work. Eye glasses and prescriptions are not my area of expertise,  after two attempts I figured [redacted] just was not a competent place to fill the prescription but by going to the "experts" I would receive better results. It seems like there is a bit of deceit going on at Western Mountain Optical?  If I had purchased any other item for $333 and it did not work I'm quite sure I would be refunded my money? So I stand firm that I want to return the glasses and receive a refund.
Regards,
[redacted]

As an optical filling entity our lab fills the prescription presented. The prescription was filled and recheck for correctness. We are an ophthalmology practice dealing with eye disease and surgery not routine eye care. We encouraged this person to return to DO for correction which she refused. There is many variables in eye prescriptions and feel certain the DO's office would have made the correction and I feel quite certain the DO would not charge the person for a possible correction. We need to resolve this issue. I propose the following. The person has made the choice not to have the prescription corrected but we will fund. Our cost for the frames is $35.00 which can be taken into any optical shop to have new lens inserted. This person retains the frames. The lab cost for the lenses is $150.43. A high index with anti glare coating was chosen by the person so the lab cost is at a higher level. We have $185.43 invested. We will refund the $250.00 in hopes the person will work with us.
