The work done at the subject customer's home was started on 10/21/2009. It was completed on 12/28/2009. We had a difficult time from homeowner being paid but were finally paid on 1/14/2010. The [redacted] enforces contractors to provide a 2 year warranty for construction. We usually...

will go beyond 2 years if it's within a reasonable amount of time. This job was almost 5years ago. We spoke to the customer and advised we could come out for a service charge to assess damages. The homeowner did not think it was acceptable for us to charge him anything. As with any service industry there is a warranty period. I would appreciate a follow-up regarding this matter. [redacted]Western Skies Restoration, Inc.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We had problems with this contractor from the start.  They installed handles in the wrong place and had to order new fronts for several of our cabinets.  Then their sales person indicated that they were not making much money off the job, but it was their fault, because of poor workmanship.Items were not installed square and the reason they had trouble getting paid was that when we owed them $1000 and one cabinet face had not come in yet, they demanded payment of most of the balance.  I told them that we would pay the balance when the job was complete.  Also, they installed the cabinet pullouts incorrectly and we had a difficult time getting them to make it right. They finally sent the supervisor out to fix all the problems.   He did a reasonable job, but we should not have had to hold back payment to get it done right. The bottom line here is that we wanted them to do what is right.   I have had a professional cabinet maker assess the problem with our cabinets falling down from the ceiling.  His assessment was that No fasteners (screws) were put into the cabinet frame into the studs in the ceiling.  Therefore I conclude that the workmanship was faulty and improperly done.  No further action is expected from this contractor, but I would like consumers who check to know that the work done was sub-standard and the customer service was poor.

My experience with Western Skies has been nothing but lengthy and unprofessional. I am on the board of the HOA for a townhome association. We were working with Western Skies to gain a bid for work. After a phone conversation with Mike B. I was left expecting a revised bid the following week. Three weeks later I gave Mike a call regarding our quote. He informed me that because in those three weeks he was out bid on a different project at a different community that is managed by our management company that he would be no longer willing to work with us. He felt his time had been wasted and would be out bid again. Sadly what Mike didn't realize is he wasted OUR time. In those three weeks the HOA was ready to approve the bid coming from Western Skies. We were ready to start work and we had narrowed on Western Skies and only Western Skies to do the work. This was extremely unprofessional and I will never waste MY time with Western Skies again. I hope that you do not make the same mistake that we have.

Review: Approximately 4 1/2 years ago we contracted with this company through our insurance company to do a kitchen remodel after a flood. Most of what they did was cabinet installation.

With much effort I got them to fix most of the problems which they created during installation:

Incorrect placement of handles, cabinets not square and many other issues which I have forgotten.

Currently, the cabinets are separating from the ceiling and [redacted] was going to come out and take a look at it. Prior to his scheduled visit he called me and told me that he would not be able to do this without charging a service call. I also took this to mean that he would also want to charge me for the repair.

I told him that all I wanted was for him to do what is right.Desired Settlement: I would like Western Skies to pay for the repair of these cabinets. From what I understand, the only way cabinets start to separate from the ceiling is if they were impproperly installed.

I do not want Western Skies to do the work, because they have already shown me that they lack the skills to do the job right.
