April 20, 2020 western tire and auto replaced a water pump for my 2011 ford explorer. I brought to their attention that the repairs I was given was not satisfactory, I know this becauce May 7, 2020 I was given a full diagnosis from *** Ofallon. May 12,2020 I was given my second appointment with WESTERN TIRE AND AUTO after expressing my frustration. I called serval times to get the status of vehicle, I was given unsure answer on when my suv would be ready. June 2, 2020 after two weeks of having my suv I was able to pick it up with the same exiting problem. June 5 , 2020 my suv vehicle performance has worsen made undriveable

The customer is right and has been very patient, we had his car towed to our shop at Western Tire & Auto expense. We are doing everything we can to take care of *** asap, we have had staffing issues during this pandemic and has caused slow repair. As of 6/18/20 we have installed a new timing kit and are putting timing cover back today and then test driving. We intend to try to have it done by 6/20/2020.

Thank you Revdex.com and

I purchased custom wheels for my Mercedes and took them into this Western Auto where I purchased 4 tires and asked them to install wheels and tires, they had to special order Lug nuts and about a week later when they came in they installed the Wheels and tires on 3/10/2020. On May 12 as I was driving the right front passenger tire broke from the axel due to the lug nut shredding. Vehicle was towed to *** where they discovered the wheels and tires were not installed correctly, they fixed the one that broke but explained the car is not drivable until all 4 have been fitted with an adapter. I had them *** put my new tires on my old wheels so I could get the vehicle home. As the right front wheel was damaged beyond use and also caused damage to the wheel hub, control arm and ball joint assembly. Thus making the car undriveable. I went into the Western Auto and spoke to the owner/mgr *** he said that I should have done my homework and should have known that an adapter was needed then tried to say the manufacturer was at fault for not including this part. He would not accept error on the part of his shop incorrectly installing the wheels and tires. Refused to even try to help make this right.

came in on 03/02/2020 with wheels he purchased from somewhere and wanted us to put tires on them. We found that the original lug nuts did not fit his wheels to be able to put on his car. We found lug nuts that would work with his wheels. On May 26th 2020 he and his Mom came in with complaint that some damage was done to his car and it was all our fault. When asked if he worked with a professional wheel company when he bought his wheels the answer was no. When a customer wants to purchase wheels from us we call the wheel companies for the right size fitment and choices for the customer to choose. Then the wheel company sends us the wheels and any parts needed to do the job. He apparently he did not do his home work when he bought the wheels to see if they would be the right size and fitment for his vehicle ( buyer beware}. Both the Mon and son were rude and disrespectful when I was trying to educate and ask questions about where they purchased the wheels, for they would be at fault. I finally asked them to leave *** blew his vapor smoke on me and yelled f u and with finger in the air. They have left more abusive reviews on the internet and now filing a Revdex.com complaint on us. They told us to put on their wheels and they did not check to see if they had the right wheels and all parts needed for us to put them on. Also strange if they thought we were at fault why did they take it to another shop. The wheels were put on 03/10/20 after getting the lug nuts, and was no problem until May 26th. What happened between that time and who else worked on the car.

Friday the 28th of February we had brought our vehicle to this shop for repairs. Paid $60 for a tow here. The oil sending unit was going out and was causing the truck to shut off. When I came back today (Monday), the engine three times over the weekend, consistently trying to jump it, to start it so they could drive it into their garage. Now they are saying that they won't do anything to repair it and said we have a week to get it off their lot. They said we are better off trashing the car.

YES WE LOOKED AT THE TRUCK SATURDAY MORNING, I *** WENT TO OPEN DRIVER DOOR OF THE TRUCK. THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN SO I WENT THRU THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS A 1998 CHEVY TRUCK IN VERY ROUGH SHAPE. WE FOUND THAT HE LOCKED UP THE ENGINE AND YES I RECOMMENDED FOR HIM TO CONSIDER NOT PUTTING ANY MORE MONEY IN THIS TRUCK. FOR IT IS NOT WORTH IT! I WAS LOOKING OUT FOR HIS BEST INTEREST, ALSO THE FRAME IS CRACKED AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I AM SURPRISED OF A COMPLAINT BECAUSE WE DID NOT CHARGE HIM ANYTHING TO CHECK IT OUT.

OWER OF WESTERN TIRE & AUTO

We purchased a 2001 F-250 and dropped it off on 9-9-19 for repairs including brakes, front & rear sway bars, front & rear shocks, tie rod ends, ball joints, front & rear u-joints, front & rear differential service, transfer case service, etc. These repairs took one month. On October 10th, we picked up the truck and drive it approximately 10 miles when the rear driveshaft fell out of the truck. We contacted Western Tire who had the truck towed back to their shop. On Friday October 11th, we were told by Western Tire that the wrong u-joints were put on the truck which caused the driveshaft to fall out of the truck. They told us that they were sending the driveshaft to be rebuilt with the correct u-joints attached and that it should arrive on Tuesday October 15th. After receiving numerous conflicting status reports throughout the week, we were told on Friday October 18th that there was damage to the transfer case and possibly the transmission caused when the driveshaft fell out and that they were sending the entire truck to "Mr. Shaft". As of Monday October 21st at 2:56 PM I have not had an update as to the current status of the truck.

Western Tire & Auto performed extensive repairs to the customers used truck purchase. We found brake cables were bad, parking shoes, sway bar links broke, u-bolts and rear shackles were bad, upper and lower ball joints on the right front bad, shocks were worn out and one rear was missing, front drive shaft needed replaced, rear drive shaft needed new u-joints,etc. We drove the truck after repairs and had no problems. G&P picked up the truck and did have problems down the road. Western Tire & Auto found that yes the rear drive shaft came off and had it fully re-conditioned. When going to install the new shaft we saw a leak from the transmission. We then called a transmission shop we work with to check out the transmission. They had found the entire transmission case cracked in two, none of us have put a finger on what was the cause of all this. We first stated it was the wrong size u-joints, but the drive shaft re-builder stated that the splines inside the drive shaft was the fault, The transmission re-builder thinks it may be the front drive shaft but that was new from Ford Dealer. It is anyone's guess as to what was the cause but know Western Tire & Auto has been trying to take care of this customer the best we can.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Again, it is important to note that the issues with the truck occurred on the same day it was picked up on October 10th and that it made it approximately 10 miles from Western Tire when the driveshaft fell out.

In addition to returning the vehicle to me in working order, I have requested to be reimbursed for the loss of use of the vehicle from October 10th through the day that the vehicle is returned. In addition I request documentation and warranty information for all of your original repairs, your additional repairs, and the repairs made by Mr. Shift.

Sincerely

Again this 2001 f-250 with 222.066 miles was a new purchase for them.It came with a lot of issues. Issues that took time along with out other customer appointments. *** drove the truck herself before they came in to us and it scared her to drive. Yes the rear drive shaft fell out 10 miles down the road and everyone was trying to find out why? We paid Inland truck parts totally recondition the drive shaft at our expense. When installing the drive shaft we saw trans fluid leaking and sent it up ***. Now finding that the transmission housing cracked around the middle of the case pointing to internal fault inside transmission. This truck has been drove and worked hard in its life, and did not have good maintenance. We are still trying to help them through this but the truck is still at the transmission shop. They to are having problems getting it done fast enough. *** is angry at us and wants us to warranty everything but I would suggest seeking restitution from the people they bought the truck from, for they sold her that truck knowing it had problems. We may have spoke to soon on thinking the drive shaft caused this but we told her we will take care of this and so we will!

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Until the truck is returned to me in working order, with documentation of all original work as well as the work that was done after the driveshaft issue I am unwilling to consider this issue resolved. Also, I learned yesterday from the transmission shop that the drain plug on the transfer case is seized. Since my original invoice includes transfer case service, this needs to be addressed when the truck is returned to you from the transmission shop.

Sincerely

Early this year my daughter ***, and I ***, took her 2001 Nissan Quest van to *** for a safety inspection. The van failed at that time because the safety inspector said code *** came up, and this meant that we needed a oxygen sensor/heater circuit (bank 1 sensor 2). We needed this replaced because that was why our engine light is on. So I called four auto repair shops to price how much it would cost to replace the sensor. I got around the same price from all of them. Which was between $150 and $250 in price, I chose Western Auto Repair shop because he said he could take us Friday. I made an appointment and we took the van in.
On October 26, 2018 we went to Western Auto Repair Shop around 9:15 a.m. and were there until 1:30 p.m. We were informed that the van was ready. We also had a safety inspection done there. We were told that the van failed because the left front tire was bad, and both front ball joints needed to be replace. Then the mechanic/customer service person told us to drive the van one hundred miles or more, so the sensor could reset it self. We got five miles from the auto shop when the “Check Engine Light” came back on and never went out.
All this was on Friday I was so sure this auto shop had made the needed repair to the sensor, so I made and appointment for the following Monday to have them repair the ball joints and get a new tire.
Later, I went on YouTube to see what needed to be done for an oxygen sensor: first, visual checks of the electrical connection, wire harness, and metal tabs in terminals for any corrosion or damages. Then once the sensor has been replace the diagnostic is to test 02 sensor for proper voltage and clear the engine code so the van's computer will know the problem has been fixed. The YouTube videos said nothing about having to drive over a 100 extra miles to fix anything.
We were charged $345.00 (which was not the price quoted over the phone) for work that was never done correctly. We paid $200.00 in cash, and put the balance of $145.00 on a Western Auto Repair credit card, that was opened up that morning, which we still have not received. On November 7, I called *** (who handles there credit card services) and spoke to a gentleman about how the vehicle was not repaired properly. And since the work was not done he would give me credit for the $145.00. And told me that he wanted me to speak to customer service at Firestone. He gave me the phone number and transferred me to a lady at Firestone customer service to make a complaint.
She said, she would start a file on them, but I would need there store number. I told her all I had was my customer repair order ***. She said that Western Auto Tire was and independent dealer that Firestone sold products to.

Hello, my name is *** and I am writing this letter in response to a complaint we have received from you via US mail. Reviewing *** letter to you, there were some things she had mentioned that were either misunderstood by her of just not accurate. She did bring her vehicle in informing us that the vehicle had sat for some time. That it had failed emissions and wanted us to replace an oxygen sensor. We informed her that a Missouri state inspection does not give her or anyone for that matter enough information to determine what the vehicle needs to be repaired and correct the check engine light being on. We had recommended her letting us diagnose it. We charge a flat fee (with some exceptions which are always presented to a customer before actually moving forward) of 105. That is one hour of labor. She agreed to this. We got the vehicle in and had diagnosed the check engine light, there were two codes, both separate issues. One pertaining to bank 1 sensor 2 oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor mentioned to be replaced. In her statement she mentioned that our repair was a different price than what we had quoted over the phone. Over the phone when I had quoted her, she wasn't sure which oxygen sensor the knowledge she provided to accurately quote her repair and I informed her the price could vary because of the possibilities of the vehicle needing a different oxygen sensor than the one I had quoted her. Back to the vehicle, the second code (which she was unaware of prior to us looking at it) was a knock sensor code. The code was pending. This means the vehicle had tested the parameters of this code and had failed but did not fail enough times at that point to request a MIL (malfunction indicator light, or check engine light). This was all brought to her attention, and was quoted and on her her receipt showing declined. In her statement she said she had not driven but 5 miles after our repair and the MIL came back on. Unfortunately I cannot say I'm surprised due to the fact that she did not do all repairs necessary to fix what was causing the check engine light to be on. On her receipt she also declined a tune up, which was recommended because the vehicle was running rough and misfires can also produce a knock/cause that code to appear. The only repair she did was for the oxygen sensor code. I'm hopeful I don't need to explain that *** istn't a failproof way to diagnose a check engine light. I informed the customer to drive the vehicle 100 miles to set monitors. Monitors have to set to pass a Missouri emissions test. Clearing a check engine light does not tell the computer that the car is fixed. It clears out the monitor and an array of other things. At the end of *** letter she had mentioned something about being in touch with Firestone. We are not affiliated with Firestone. We sell Firestone's tires but do so through Community Tire wholesaler. Sonja is more than welcome to visit our other location but I feel she doesn't understand the situation with her vehicle. Either way, the repairs she had paid for were needed to be done, she unfortunately needs more work.

I went in for an oil change and lube using my oil and filter which they agreed to. *** came out and said I had the wrong filter, ODD because I have been using this filter for close to 10 YEARS! They not only did not follow my installation instructions but messed up the threads on a brand new ($15) filter and the fitting it screws onto. They claimed the threads were already messed up, again ODD because I have always done the oil change myself and installed the filter they removed!!! That filter spun on by Hand all the way up!!! The only way they could have messed it up was to try to install it without pulling the brake line clear of it. This damage was all there fault and they need to make it right...…………..

Western Tire & Auto Response • Jun 22, 2018

The customer brought in his own oil and filter, the filter he purchased is an extra long filter that is an aftermarket filter. The filter is hard to install being close to the frame, when his oil filter was being removed the technician noticed the filter was hard to spin off. The filter threads slightly pulled because of years of putting on this extra long filter. We installed one of our valvoline filters that is the correct size and explained that to customer. We returned his filter and any oil back in the box he brought. This was the first time this customer was here, if the customer wishes we will change his oil on his next visit for free and he can watch us.

Thanks

Please add the following to my complaint; I gave them 6 qts. Of oil and did not get one back , I just checked my engine oil and found it was over filled by an entire quart! What mechanic does an oil change with out checking the level ? This can cause blown seals, so I now have to deal with this problem !!!

Customer Response • Jun 25, 2018

update for my claim; just tried to remove the oil filter they installed and it will not com off. I will now have to go to the dodge dealer to have this filter removed for more $. please adjust my claim refund to $100.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: On top of everything else they did wrong I now have to have another garage remove the oil filter they installed. They put their filter on so tight I cannot get it off to drain the overfill (1Qt.)
