When unit came into the shop the complaint was that the unit had a loss of power, low boost, and a recurring fault codeWith the repairs
we made we addressed the loss of power and the loss of boostThe fault code for the compressor discharge temperature was inactive with high counts at the time it arrivedWhen the unit left it did not have a fault for the compressor discharge temperature too high. Had the customer let us know that there was a problem and taken it to a certified Volvo dealership we would have been happy to help him with the repairsUnfortunately he chose to go to an independent repair facility and did not inform us that there were any issues whatsoever with the repairsVolvo warranty is a dealer to dealer warranty and does not cover independent shops.To address Mr***’s complaint of unnecessary repairs his complaint went well beyond a recurring fault codeHe asked us to address a low power and low boost complaint as wellWe found a hole in the charge air cooler as well as a clogged EGR coolerWe cleaned and pressure tested the EGR cooler, which passed after the cleaning, as well as replacing the CAC. A failed CAC is a common cause of low boost and definitely was affecting the power of the unitWe confirmed the repairs after we made them and the unit had an amount of boost that was within Volvo spec. To address Mr***’s complaint that the repairs where not authorized we followed Westfall O’Dell procedure, which is to consult the customer whenever we need to make repairsThe only work that Westfall O’Dell dealerships do when a vehicle is brought in is the initial diagnostics for which we obtain the companies representatives (drivers) signature prior to performingAt 10:AM on 8-16-our service advisor contacted *** *** and received his approval to effect the recommended repairs. Mr *** should have contacted us prior to going into an independent repair facility, as we have a large network of Volvo dealers to work with throughout the countryUnfortunately rather than trying to resolve the complaint with us or give us a chance to rectify the situation prior to taking other measures Mr *** chose to go to an independent repair facility with no Volvo affiliation. -- Brooks F*General Manager***

I am rejecting this response because:I had only authorized the Westfall O'dell dealer to change the compressor discharge sensor on my Volvo Semi TruckThe code was showing over times as per the Volvo Link call center report, and they decided to ignore the codeThe dealer then decided to change other parts of the truck instead without my authorizationOver the phone, when I spoke to the dealer I informed them to only change sensorDue to the fact that I needed my truck released and had a load to be delivered, I paid the amount for the unnecessary repairs that were done to the truckI then took the truck after the delivery to a different mechanic who was successfully able to solve the issue by changing the sensor that was in dire need of being changed.

I am rejecting this response because: I have not personally signed any documents even via email accepting the repairs that were done to my semi truckFurthermore, they did not send me a estimate or call me to inform me before they started their unauthorized services on my vehicleI had to call them and had not received any information or communication from the Westfall O'dell Volvo dealer about what was going on and what they were working on with my semi truck. 2nd reason for rejectingIn the Westfall O'dell Volovo's bill they even have it written under the complaint section about the sensor code P111C- Compressor Discharge Temperature Too High, that I had called in aboutHowever, I still had to take the same vehicle to another volvo dealer who then started to work on the problem the next day after my truck had made the delivery. So the Westfall O'dell Volvo dealer basically charged me close to $in unauthorized charges and did not fix the sensor issue that the truck was having at that time. I have attached the bill that proves I had to take the same truck to the next Volvo dealership and had to get the same code shows again it mean reapir done by of Westfall O'dell dealership's lack of incompetence.
