On 1/**/2015, [redacted] brought in a damaged dress with a hole on the side. Since the hole was not on the seam, but in the middle of a panel of fabric, she requested that we create a new...

seam over the hole to hide it. We explained that the dress would not look the same once this is done, but would do it as she requested. Our tailor complied and created a new seam so the hole could no longer be seen, as per her instructions. The newly created seam was smooth, with no puckering in the fabric and the hole could no longer be seen.   When [redacted] came back on 2/*/2015 to retrieve her repaired dress, she claimed to be unhappy with the new seam, which was created exactly to her specifications. [redacted] stated she now wanted us to extend the seam up to the waistline, and open up the seam of the waistline to accommodate the extended seam. Upon this new request, we explained this is beyond the scope of her original request and the newly requested work would require an additional fee.   At this point, [redacted] became agitated and belligerent toward our employees. She began to yell about the additional fee and requested a refund for the alteration. We were willing to agree to a refund, but with the condition that we would remove the stitching we created that is now successfully hiding the hole. [redacted] refused to agree to this condition, which made it extremely obvious this was an attempt to obtain our services for free. She continued to berate our employees and was asked to leave.   As we told [redacted], we would be happy to provide a refund of $16 for the work provided with the condition that we would be allowed to remove the stitches that are now successfully hiding the hole in her dress, as was originally requested. We would return the dress to her in the same condition it was when she brought it in.   Westlake Cleaners has proudly and ethically served the neighborhood for over 16 years and has been continuously managed by the same ownership during that time. Not once have we ever had a complaint regarding the quality of our tailor’s work, especially not one that has a biased nature.

The facts are:   - [redacted] specifically requested a new seam in her dress to hide a hole in the dress.  - It was not necessary for her to try it on since it would not be a large seam and would not affect the fit of the garment, only the appearance, of which she was aware.  - When she saw the repair and decided she wanted additional work done is when she was informed the NEWLY REQUESTED WORK would be an additional charge.  - When a refund was requested, we were happy to comply as long as we would be able to remove the work done to hide the hole.  - This is when [redacted] began to complain about deception and fraud.  - Due to the fact that [redacted] had requested additional work above and beyond her original request, we informed [redacted] there would be an additional charge for the newly requested work.   [redacted] has neglected to disclose that in addition to the dress, she also brought in another dress and a skirt to be altered, and they were done so successfully. Since [redacted] has not complained about the 2 other garments that were altered, clearly there was no issue regarding language or understanding the requirements of the alterations.    As stated previously, we are more than happy to refund the cost of the dress alteration as long as we will be able to remove the stitches we added to hide the hole.    This will be our final response to this matter.

Review: Damage made to my dress by the seamstress: I feel that Westlake business is fraudulent. They ruined my dress and the seamstress, who doesn't speak a word of English (only [redacted]) refused to give me my money back :

I provided a dress to be altered as there was a hole in it , the seamstress who speaks [redacted] only and needs to have everything translated by her associate, who speaks english verbally agreed that she can fix my dress, she returned it to me with Added defections, and further messed up my dress. I then brought it back to her and pointed to her the defects she made in the dress through her alterations , and she replied (through her associate -- )her message was translated by her English associate- stating : "to refix the dress, it will cost you more money as added alterations need to be done . I was surprised - here I am pointing clear defects that she made while altering my dress and then she is stating that to fix her defected alterations that she is responsible for, she would charge me more. I then replied if thats the case, I want my money back. She again answered through her associate that to give me my money back , she would remove all the stitches that she made (meaning all her initial alterations) - I said no- as I didn't want her touching my dress again. (especially after she said she would charge me more--what fraud) I didn't trust her-and the material of my dress is very delicate! Also, Let me add that some other alterations that she made on my other clothing weren't very well done. So I said I still want my money back, without her removing her stitches, She still refused to give me my money back and her associate kept yelling, bullying me and telling me to leave her store. Lastly, The seamstress doesn't speak a word of English , so she confuses customers in telling them that she can do the requested alterations when she clearly cant. That in itself is misleading! and all communications had to be done through her associate on the alterations that I requested. Her English associated is aggressive and bullies her customer.Desired Settlement: I am requesting the full refund of my repair on this dress. I

want an apology for the associate who was harassing me by yelling at me when they were at fault!

I want a full monetary compensation of 100$ for being bullied and yelled at in the store by her associate (the english speaker female) -I began feeling threatened and left the store.

I also feel I was mislead by the seamstress as she dosen't speak a word of English and told me that she can do the alteration that I asked for but she clearly did not understand what I wanted.

Lastly, I want them to mail me the check as I am too fearful to go back in the store due the the aggressive conduct of the english associate, and the distrustful seamstress. Her English associate is aggressive and bullies her customer
