As stated before, we and every other builder in the state & beyond had no knowledge of the shingles being defective at that timeAgain, this is a class action lawsuit that has affected builders all over Wisconsin & much of the MidwestClass action lawsuits are made public knowledge, so the previous owner as well as the entire country would have had access to this public informationThis is not a Westridge issue, it is a nationwide industry issue

I have reviewed the
response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
As promised and not delivered, I would like a response as to why their contractor installed a defective roof in 2005 when there was evidence of the defect. It is also not acceptable that this company never contacted their clients regarding this huge defect. Because of this, I have no proof that the prior owner knew of this issue and did not disclose this in the real estate documents. In addition, there are many people in my neighborhood who built with Westridge that have concerns about their deteriorating roof shingles. Finally, it is not acceptable for Westridge to destroy files that are not even years old. They stated they do not have anything going back seven years.

For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Certainteed stopped making these defective shingles in 2005, just before the house was completed in 2005. The shingles were defective from through 2005. The class action was started in 2007, so why didn't the builder ever reach out to people who purchased their home with these defective shingles? Because of this, I have no recourse to the previous owner, because she can claim she was not aware of the issue. How many other Westridge homes out there have these shingles and no one is aware just like me? Were these shingles installed because they were at clearance prices, so Certainteed or the builder could get rid of them? I would like to hear a good explanation as to why none of Westridge's customers were not notified of this, why they used these shingles that were questionable at the time of installation, and how Westridge can support their warranty without any records that do not go back more than seven years.

Review: In late 2004, Westridge Builders constructed a new Brookside V house with shingles that were known to have manufacturing defects five years earlier. As they stated, home owners were never notified by Westridge when they were clearly aware of this major issue. Subsequently, I bought the house in October 2014 and the owner claims they were not aware because no one ever contacted her to tell her her 25 year shingles would only last 12 years. I think Westridge should reach out to the media and customers that are still not aware of this. There could be hundreds of homes that have defective shingles that were built by Westridge. This is going to cost thousands to repair the roof before it begins to leak. The shingles are litterally falling apart on a ten year old house.Desired Settlement: I would like Westridge to replace the defective shingles and repair the situation they could have prevented in the first place in 2005. They should also notify their past customers of the problem and use local media as well lto alert people of this problem many will soon face. If they do not, I plan to contact local TV stations very soon.
