Westside Machine Reviews (%countItem)

I am an enlisted active duty member in the Air Force with not much knowledge towards cars. My car was damaged on a military installation by another active duty member. The Air Force agreed to pay for all the damages in a claims process. The process would start by - getting estimates of the damages and turning the estimates in with the claim. One of the shops I got an estimate from was Westside Body Works, Inc. because of numerous good things I had heard about them in the past (quote of $1,3xx). Once the claim paid out (a year later) I brought my car into Westside Body Works, Inc. to have the damages fixed. Once my car was in their possession for two days they finally contacted me after they took the car apart informing me that the total repairs would cost more than what their initial estimate was made out to be by over $400. Apparently there is more labor that needs to be paid for because they weren't aware of pieces of my car that would need to be removed for them to fix the issue. I by no means make a lot of money and this was being paid for by a claim that has already been paid out. I don't appreciate being blind sided and there is nothing I can do now except pay out of pocket because my car is taken apart in their shop so either way fixed or not fixed I am going to be charged. In your initial estimate this should have been included with the expertise and knowledge we trust they know about cars - there shouldn't be hidden parts they aren't aware of to be taken off last minute. If this would have been acknowledged from the BEGINNING the Air Force would have paid the entire amount. I contacted an attorney through the Air Force and his advice regardless of what he could do for me was to contact the Revdex.com and try to get the issue resolved. Because once a claim is paid out - there is no adjusting. Please help me resolve this issue so another female doesn't get walked over in the same way.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing in reply to dispute *** issued against Westside Body Works on 8-14-19.

It is our goal at Westside Body Works to explain the estimate of repairs with the customer thoroughly so there will be no confusion when the vehicle is brought into the shop for repairs. Our first question to the customer is, will there be an insurance company covering the repairs? Some insurance companies we work with will write their own estimates and pay the customer directly from their estimate (customer would be responsible for the original repair costs they were issued from insurance company), we are a direct repair facility for other insurance companies which means that we do all of the work from start to finish for them and send a final bill after repairs are completed which they pay us direct after the repairs are completed.

It is normal practice for body repair shops and insurance companies, including Westside Body Works to only write an estimate from the damage that can be seen, we do not estimate “hidden” damage AKA supplemental damage that we can’t see. We are up front with our customers and notify them of this practice at the time of the estimate. Once the vehicle is in the shop for repairs it is disassembled, and that is where we stop and notify our customer, and the insurance company (if one is involved) of the hidden damage that was found. We often times have to wait for the approval from customer or insurance adjuster to continue on with the repairs, and/or order additional parts that are needed. We are diligent with our paperwork at the time of drop off, and pick up of vehicle. Our customers sign authorization to repair paperwork, and final bill paperwork, notifying them of such practices.

Please find attached a copy of the signed authorization to do the repairs, a copy of our repair order notes that show dates and times we communicated with Miss. regarding the repairs, a copy of the final paperwork signed by Miss., and a copy of the receipt showing what was collected for the repairs.

You will see in the repair order notes where we discussed that additional hidden damage may be found after disassembly, as well as where we discussed with her where we would not be charging her the supplemental damage costs, only what our original estimate was. You will see in the copy of the final bill where the supplemental amount was charged, and removed as well as where Miss. signed our paperwork stating that she could be contacted, and responsible for additional damage that might be found.

Customer is asking for final bill to be adjusted back to initial estimate costs that we provided her in August 2018, this adjustment was already completed prior to her picking up her vehicle on

August 23rd, 2019.

It is our goal to provide excellent customer service, and we pride ourselves on the fact that we are able to serve the same customers year after year. These same customers refer their family and friends to us as well.

I have attached our file notes to this complaint, please let me know if you don't receive them.

Thank you.

Mindy C
