called me on the phone on 12 May and was using what I perceived as high pressue techniques. He would not listen to me because he was doing so much talking. I told him that I was not interested and tanked him for hos concern and hung up. He called back and my wife answered and he told my wife I had no right to hang up on him. He sent me an email that was less than pleasant and returned his email and told him that he was not listening to me and to not contact me again by email or phone. He has sent me at least two additional emails and pays not attention to my requests to not contact me.

Desired Outcome

No further contact by the busi No more contacts from *** or the Westwood Books Publishing.

Dear ***,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. You mistook our intent. We called to let you take advantage of the opportunities of the publishing market.

Westwood Books Publishing, LLC is a results driven company and we want to lend you our services to not only make your book affordable but gain value and credibility as well.

Most of our authors' book suffered mediocrity in the market before we came in and showed them that there book/s can do so much more with the right people working on it.

You may have experienced it or not. Our agents are very passionate at what they do. They take every book seriously. Again please do not misunderstand our intention.

It's just like visiting the doctor for consultation. These doctors know how to treat you and will explain thoroughly what you need to do in order for you to get better. I don't think you would just interrupt him/her or simply walk out in the midst of his consultation because you think you know better. Or simply because you know simple home remedies.

Westwood Books Publishing, LLC helps authors. If someone is really passionate in helping you, at least hear them out. You'll never know you may need for our assistance after all.

Failure to communicate and provide sufficient service as stated when service began.
Westwood has failed to contact me the author. No email has been replied to nor have I ever recieved phone calls in regards to marketing, publishing orders etc. Contract stated partnership with Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Yet my work appears on several websites that aren't even in English and for higher prices than what I set the price for my work. Complete failure to provide sufficient service for what I paid for.

Desired Outcome

I want my property released from Westwood and for them and all other sites they are associated with to immediately halt sales and remove my work from their listings.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Feb 10, 2020

Dear ***,

First of let me make it clear that your 2 books are published. The Dark, Poetic Reflections was published on March 19, 2019 and The Dark, Poetic March was published on October 10, 2018. Meaning to say you approved all the drafts that were sent and communicated to you by our production team. You even mentioned that you did set the price for those books. This why we were able to successfully distribute it through Ingram, which happens to be the largest book distributor in America. Which is also why you see your book displayed on Amazon and Barnes & Noble's websites.

The reason why you were able to see different retail prices is simply because your book's distribution is not only limited to the US market. All those websites that you saw may all be affiliated with Ingram as part of the list of retailers that they distributed your book to. Why are questioning that wherein that's an advantage for your book so that readers from other countries that are interested can purchase it. When you convert those retail prices to USD, your book is still priced the same as what you set them to be, $7.99 and $5.99 respectively.

Let me also point out *** that the publishing packages that you purchased for your books are our basic package (Oak Package), which doesn't include any marketing at all. This is can all be justified by the two agreements you signed on Oct. 17, 2018. Is also a fact that you were offered marketing services because we know that by simply displaying your book wouldn't be enough. Please understand that you can't sell any product just by letting sit somewhere and wait for interested buyers to discover it..

If you still wish us to remove and cease your book from being sold. We can go ahead and do so. The decision is yours ***. And we would respectfully honor it.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1. Yes, I approved the drafts. My problem you fail to address is the lack of communication afterwards. Not 1 email back, no answer on the phone whenever I tried calling. Shall I add the screenshots of the emails you guys failed to respond to? As I have been trying to communicate to even get copies of the book for myself.
2. The book price I set was 5.99 and not a cent more should it be sold for, the ebook was set at 3.99. also I was not offered marketing services. I was only talked to by a Tony Hopkins (who was emailing me from another "book agency" before writing again under westwoods name shortly after, little fishy all around) to sign up for book fairs only not marketing. Again, screenshots can be provided.
3. Let me point out again, the Revdex.com of San Jose does not have Westwood books registered as a credited business. However the Westwood website claims it is. Let me also mention again, the failure to communicate with me by Westwood not answering phone lines not replying to emails I've sent to request info on buying copies of my own book let alone even being able to market services.
4. Remove and cease my book from being sold immediately.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Feb 19, 2020

Dear ***,

We are not here to argue with you. If that is really what you need from us, again, we are happy to oblige.

Your book, "The Dark, Poetic March" is set at $5.99 here's link as proof of it *** However, your other book, The Dark, Poetic Reflections", its retail price was your decision to price it at $7.99 for paperback and $3.99 for its eBook. Please copy of your approval email below:

***

Greetings ***,

I approve the 7.99 price and the 3.99 for the ebook.

-
***

Let me also reiterate *** that we already cancelled your book's distribution with Ingram which also means cancelling or removing your book from online resellers such as ***.

I presume it will take time for the sites to take down my books. It still shows available on many sites. Granted my 1 mistake, for the sale price of it. However you still haven't addressed the other concerns. Such as lack of communication availability,no 1-800 # so it meant a charge everytime I tried. No answer from any number directories ever. Also the Revdex.com credentials. Westwood isn't listed as credited but your site claims otherwise.

Westwood Publishing Company has accepted over $*** from me and they have provided NO services. They also stated I would be in a book fair-FALSE.
Westwood Publishing Company agreed to editing and book reviews. I have paid close to $*** in services. I first came into business with the company in March and since that time they have produced no edits of my book. Two weeks ago I began to question their practice and they sent my book back unedited. I was told by Westwood that I would be able to feature my book in the Decatur GA Book Fair. I made a flight, and arranged hotel. When I contacted the Book Fair just to talk about how the setup works they informed me that I was NOT one of their featured authors. They also informed me that they have never heard of Westwood Publishing and that I was the second person claiming to be a part of the book fair from this company. They further stated the amounts that I paid were absurd for a book fair and book reviews. When I contacted Westwood Publishing they would not talk about the book fair and a few days later sent my book back unedited. I asked for a refund and they asked me for another $*** for book reviews. At this point I realize that I was taken advantage of and this company is completely fraudulent. They have done absolutely nothing and I'm out of a lot of money. I also searched Amazon and they are actually selling my book on Amazon and they told me nothing about this and have not discussed any sells etc. None of this was something I agreed to with them.

Desired Outcome

I need to have my money refunded would be primary. Secondly, they need to be out of business and should not be functioning as such. I am also seekinng to make sure they are not seeling my book as their own as I found it being sold on Amazon but I recieved no information from them as the book is not even edited. I want them to stop any future publications of my book and serious actions need to be sought after.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Sep 17, 2019

Dear ***,

First of all, when you purchased your publishing package you are aware that it doesn't have the editing service included in it. Yes, we sent you the drafts and layout for your approval. If you say that you wanted your first book edited, why didn't you acquire the editing service as suggested by your consultant?

As a company, we take pride in making sure that our authors have full control over their book. And we do make suggestions to help you improve your book but the decision ultimately falls down to you.

You see your book on Amazon and Barnes&Noble because it is part of the service you acquired that we distribute and sell your book through online resellers. You must understand *** that authors acquire the services of publishers not only to publish their book but to also distribute and sell it. Why are you suddenly asking why your book is on Amazon? We are aware *** that this isn't the first time you dealt with a self-publisher. So are you trying to say that when you published your book/s with them, you weren't also aware that your books were sold on Amazon with the name of the said publisher? Here's the link as prroof: ***
Secondly, with regards to book fairs. I don't know why or even understand how a "representative" from the AJC Book Fair would say they didn't hear about Westwood Books Publishing. When in fact we are listed as one of their exhibitors. Here is the link as proof of what I'm saying: ***
Also, when you check the list of authors who will be presenting (also known as conducting a book signing), are all traditionally published authors.

The amount you paid for the Book Signing Event so you could exhibit your book have potential readers lining on your booth. It is for the marketing services that Westwood Books Publishing, LLC has done to help you in the said event.

Please do not make FALSE accusations because we have written documentation (aka Service Agreement) with your signature affixed on it. Meaning to say, you agreed to purchase these services and you understood what you're getting.

Most importantly, you say that we are fraudulent or taken advantage of? Westwood Books Publishing, LLC has fulfilled the services that you acquired. Please don't say that we have done absolutely nothing for you. Westwood Books Publishing, LLC has published, distributed and had your book reviewed. Again we have all the necessary documents and all of our calls are recorded.

Lastly, I would like to point out that the company you mentioned on your concern is named Westwood Publishing, a company based at ***, USA. I would like to clarify that we are Westwood Books Publishing, LLC located at

Customer Response • Sep 28, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1. I have a chain of emails and communication of what was expected and what the final expectations would me. I Westwood send me receipts of transactions but conveniently did not put on the receipts what services would be provided. The bank found the receipts to be made up and fake. I have paid Westwood publishing for a package with 2 edits allowed $900 and they sent no product nor feedback on the edit (I have receipt and all conversations were noted).

2. I paid $*** for book reviews and never saw any book reviews. Instead of book reviews I got calls from Westwood asking for more money.

3. It was not until I called the Book Fair for additional information to setup they explained to me several things. First they said that they do not have me listed as an author to be in the book fair. They explained that I was the second caller that had basically got taken advantage of specifically from "Westwood Publishing". They further explained that the services Westwood was far beyond normal and that they have never heard of nor have any dealings with Westwood Publishing. So I was not only out of money with Westwood Publishing but I was out of plane ticket and hotel which I had arranged.

4. Since I filed this report oddly enough Westwood sent me my book back with NO reviews (I have proof of this) and no editing.

5. Lastly before I even took this approach I asked them for a refund since they had basically taken advantage of me a senior citizen and they said yes in 7-10 business days *** will refund you via check and when they did not happen I have since gone to the bank and they are now trying to send me bogus text, calls and my book with no work and no edit.

6. This is a very serious matter and if I am unable to get anywhere here I am going to hire an attorney. I have paid this company well over $*** in total because each month they call and tell me since February that they are doing work on my book and I have nothing to show for it. They have most certainly committed fraud. I had a company they was reputable that I used for my first book and I didn't pay nearly these fees that Westwood has charged. That company edited my book and printed 100's of copies. Westwood has sent me basically my book back to me like I sent it to them with no work. It is very sad that a company or even if they are a real company at this point is the question.

7. It should be noted that any documentation that you need for Revdex.com I can mail and provide I save every conversation via email and phone and I have bank transactions to support. The bank certainly found the transactions odd and the receipts to be "fake word printed documents". The receipts don't have list what exactly was paid for only that I paid.
Everything that I am saying is supported by documentation not something that I making up.

Attaching files as I already submitted my response and info this morning. Thank you very much!

This company is not a legitimate business, instead, it is an "online" scam. The architects of the scam website call authors from Amazon .com and book retailers. They target authors on the list presenting themselves as representatives from the publishers that have actually published the work of an author offering services that cannot provide.

Upon investigating the links to their website, business phone numbers, and addresses you will find out it is an elaborate hoax.

I GOT RIPPED OFF OF $500 US DOLLARS. I CALLED MY CREDIT CARD HOLDER TO STOP PAYMENT IMMEDIATELY! ONLY TO BE INFORMED THE TRANSACTION CHARGES HAD TO BE PAID FIRST, AND THEN A DISPUTE CLAIM COULD BE FILED. WHAT AN OUTRAGE.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I WANT MY MONET BACK IMMEDIATELY. MOST IMPORTANT FOR THE Revdex.com TO KNOW ABOUT THIS SCAM COMPANY

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Sep 16, 2019

The said complainant purchased a book fair services from us last September 6, 2019 and cancelled the same service on the same date because of his confusion knowing only then that his publishers is also going to the same book fair. We processed the refund on that same day too. And HE apologized of what happened. Everything was good not until that this said complainant posted something not desirable on Revdex.com accusing us of being a scam.

In the first place, the said complainant is an author of another book publishing company. He approached us for a service which is designed for our respected and valued authors. We accepted other authors from other publishing so as to help them realized their dreams of being exposed, shared and made known to the bigger community of readers, writers and enthusiasts.

Secondly, we valued our author as much as we value each dignity as a person. We are a legit book publishing fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of our authors putting into realizations their learnings, experiences, and legacies especially for this generation and the next. We have all legal documentations available upon request, and we are paying taxes.

Calling WBP as scam is not only unacceptable but degrades on how you see the identity and dignity of each individual working in our publishing. If I may say, this complainant is either promised something by his publisher to say these things against our company or desperate.

A copy of his receipt showing his payment was cancelled is available upon request.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Westwood Books Publishing LLC is a bunch of bandits. I worked with them since June of last year for my Contemporary book. As a neophyte author, undeniably I sincerely needed a marketing firm to turn to concerning promoting my book. Getting a call from Remy Rodriguez was how this most horrible nightmare has started. She called me about my book explaining that it was recommended by Amazon for it didn't have any five-star reviews online. I was told that getting my book on Amazon is just basic but getting it to book fairs or signings is half the battle. Being instructed by someone; whom I thought was a leader in the field, joining the Miami Book Fair was my first move. A week later she called me to get a book review. Remy told me how realistic that review was. Getting trust and credibility for my book from readers is the significance of that review, so I went on with it. The next two weeks were a bit dreadful. I rang this company to check on the projects I paid. I was advised that I was listed on their official entry for the Miami book fair and to expect copies of marketing materials such as bookmarks, flyers, and all that stuff; which they are all subject upon my approval. So I waited for it patiently.

The whole months of August and September were horrendous. Remy; a woman which she once had claimed herself to be, but with thorough investigation came out to be a demented pathetic insane gay from the Philippines. Sexual orientations and preferences are things I have no qualms with. What has distressed me is his incessant rationale their company has gone all along. Like seriously? Comes November; when Miami Book Fair has way passed, I never received that photo documentation or any sort of reports informing me of how did the event go. Not even getting those copies of promised marketing materials. Now, what's even more ridiculous, this it called by towards the end of November saying I was enlisted for the event in Arizona and Los Angeles- which means another investment of $1,500 for these events. So I was like, what's going on with you people? Are you guys for real?

A good friend of mine; who is also an author from Charlotte North Carolina happened to have worked with these crooks last year. That friend sent me some articles online uncovering the true colors of these bandits. I know that conducting a thorough investigation for Westwood is what I should've done. I felt I was being deliberately conned, and trying to get my fee back financially is something I don't think I deserved. I can't believe they are still in operations and are still able to prey money to self-published authors. Ruffling authors feathers and hitting their precise egos are some of the tactics they're doing. I was wondering what Revdex.com had thought of doing to suss them out and persecute.

If you do get calls from this company, Westwood Books Publishing; professing to have operated in Los Angeles, let this message of mine to sound you an alarm. They are nothing but a clone. I still thank and appreciate that God showed me a blessing out from such hard breaking experience. I have learned my lesson. Spending my precious time on the phone with self-publishing companies is definitely what I would not do ever again.

I have had nothing but the best service and support from Westwood Books since I started working with them.

So one of their agent called me and confirmed if I am the author and this specific book. I was about to pay them, $5000 for the services of publication and another $3000 for the book exhibit. When they connected me to their finance, I heard them speak with another language. So I gave me my card information and but now I am hesitant. The bank called me and verify if I purchased this amount for fraud protection because they receive a lot of complain. so now, I check the address, it says in LA. So, since I am in the area, I went there and check their office. Into my knowledge, it shocked me because it was not an office. It is a low cost apartment. I knock the door and no one answers me but I can here the TV inside that apartment. I tried to google the book store that they said it was not even a address. These people are scam. So be careful. Same as Book vine Press. Bookwhip and bluecrest Press. They are all scammers.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Jul 15, 2019

Dear Sir/Ms.,

We are responding these concerns you have outlined. First off, this is a definitely a first that an author, who supposedly purchased services from us, is writing a complain but couldn't mention his/her book title. Also, we have a zero-tolerance policy regarding charging our authors/clients' card. We won't charge their card without getting their approval and every conversation is recorded.

Honestly your claims outright contradict itself. Let me give an example to justify my point. When you're about to purchase using your card with an unusually large amount, the bank would immediately decline such transactions. Then you would have to verify or confirm if it was you making it.
We always advice our authors to contact their bank about their business with us. And if you say you were hesitant about the transactions you've made; wouldn't you have asked for a refund? Because we would immediately give you back your money.

This alone clearly shows that either you're not an author or even purchased any service with us.
Secondly, if you really visited our office. You must have noticed the cameras and sensors which would help notify us that there is someone at our doorstep. All authors who came by were always accommodated. We also inform all our authors that we don't have a physical bookstore but we do display their books at our office. Our office location is clearly not as what you claim it to be.

Westwood Books Publishing, LLC is a legally registered company operating under the State of California's business law. We are legally paying our State and IRS Taxes. So, we don't know where you're getting the idea or even outright say that we are a scam.

I strongly suggest that you get your facts right and please be sure you have all necessary documents to back your claims up.

Westwood has failed to accomplish the items in the contract, i.e., marketing, e-book formation, etc
I signed a contract with Westwood about September 2018. I paid the original agreements. Then I was in an accident and admitted to a hospitalFor a hip replacement during the first week of December 2018 that took about six weeks. During those weeks Westwood sent me additional agreements to sign through DocSign.I never saw those agreements. I called 4Ã?2 requested that they be resent because the documents had expired. They continue to charge my Discover card although I am quite certain I never signed additional agreements. They declined to send me copies of the signed agreements, did send me one copy of an agreement signed by someone else. From that time on they declined to send me any copies of agreements I had signed, stopped accepting phone calls from me and blocked my email address. To date, I believe they have collected *** some odd dollars from my Discover account. But, I am not certain of the amount because it put my Discover card over its limit. Therefore I had no longer have access to my Discover statements. And of course because they are refusing to send me copies of signed agreements there is no way I can estimate how much they have defrauded me for.

Desired Outcome

I need to know which agreements I have actually signed, need copies of them, and wish to resolve my actual bill with them.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Jun 13, 2019

Dear Ms.,

Thank you for raising your concerns/. Your concerns allow us to become a better company and prevent such concerns in the future.

With regards to the agreement/s that were sent to your email was indeed signed by you and you alone. Having signed those agreements you understand and acknowledge the amount that was charged on your Discover card and the services that you purchased. Most importantly you already know those servicesd were fulfilled and you did receive proof for such services.

Westwood Books Publishing, LLC payment process are all recorded and we wouldn't charge our customers' card without their knowledge nor approval. So we would like ask why would a word such as "defraud" come into play?

Westwood Books Publishing, LLC's last conversation with you was conferenced with your bank and there was a confirmation from you that the aforementioned charges and services are authorized. And as per your request we resent those unsigned agreements but no repsonse came from you after that.

We will submit all necessary documents pertaining to this case. Also as proof of your signed agreements and acknowledged services and charges.

Thank you.

I was contacted on June 26, 2018 by Westwood Books Publishing to work with them and obtain a literary agent for promotion of my book "***". On June 27, 2018, I signed a contract engaging them to represent me and to promote my book to traditional publishers to obtain a contract to publish my book. On July 20, 2018, my literary agent requested that I obtain reviews of my book that would further assist him in gaining recognition and a contract to re-publish my book with a traditional publisher. On July 24, 2018, I paid the required amount to engage two companies to review my book. I was promised the republication of my book and a Press Release and a full report on the contacts my literary agent made and when they were made and the outcome. I then paid my published $599 on October 9, 2018 to represent me in the Guadalajara Book Fair in Mexico and an additional $*** to create a video trailer that would be available to marketing purposes for the ***. To date, I have not received the Press Release or the video trailer which were promised by November 1, 2018. Refund I have not received to date the Press Release that was promised in July, nor have I received a full report by the literary agent of his contacts, with names and addresses, dates of contact and outcome. I have also not received the video trailer that was promised by November 1, 2018 or a report about the outcome of the Guadalajara Book Fair. I would like a full refund for these services or the completion of these tasks within one week. I have now lost the entire Christmas season for marketing.

Westwood Books Publishing Response • Jan 17, 2019

To ***,

First of we apologize for that the situation or concern came down to Revdex.com. Let me assure also that we are here to resolve this matter and make sure that all the services you acquired are fulfilled.

Now let's tackle the marketing services for your book. The first marketing, BOOk *** was fulfilled accordingly and made sure that the said reviews are placed in your book.

Second Marketing, The ***. It was also fulfilled and thus a report was sent by our Marketing Team. Reports coming from the organizers are photo documentation which is proof that your book was indeed marketed and displayed at the said event. Only cases wherein buyers inquired about your book will you receive additional reports other than the photo documentation.

When it comes to the *** our Marketing Service Representative did send you the guidelines last October so we could begin the fulfillment but you traveled to San Diego for a
seminar. He also sent you a follow-up email regarding the guidelines last December and after we received your response we immediately commenced its fulfillment and I do believe you are currently working with Production Manager to polish the Trailer.

Lastly, the Book Agent. Our agent did contact you and discussed his plans for your book which included Bookstores and Publishers. The agent did represent your book, contacted the list of bookstores and Publishers and sent you a report about his work.

Our book agents are constantly travelling to gauge not only bookstores and publishers but help promoting authors books at various book events both Nationally and Internationally.

We immediately created a Press Release for your book and submitted it to targeted Media Outlets after we recently found out about that you were promised that you would get one. We checked the publishing package you purchased and saw that it wasn't part of it.

The information contained in the reply to the Complaint is inaccurate and incomplete. The quality of the service provided is substandard and an attempt to profit from my work. This company has been noted in various articles as being formed only in March of 2018 and also of being disreputable. I have not received a finished video trailer to date although it was promised by November 1, 2018. I have reached out to the company but still have not received any accounting of the sales of my book. Their tactic is to stall.
