WFC Construction Management, Inc. Reviews (4)

Called the owner, Sabato, to get an estimate on three bathroom. After stopping by the house, he promised me an estimate within a week. After the week had past, he failed to provide the estimate and promised the estimate in another week. He failed to provide the estimate in the next week and promised the estimate in three days. After failing two more times to provide an estimate, he rudely responded that he was no longer interested in doing the job and hung up the phone on me.

Review: for $148,850.00 with WFC Inc. Construction Management on November **, 2014. The contract included: Completely renovate two existing bathrooms, a dormer in the Master Bedroom with a full master bath completely, completely renovate the kitchen, paint entire interior, sand and stain all the hardwoods in a dark finish, and all associated finish work. WFC was to have this work completed by June **, 2015. I was emphatic about the importance of this deadline as we had a rental that we would not be able to extend after that time. He assured me over and over that the project would complete before the deadline. WFC began demolition on the project the week of November **, 2014. We were told by [redacted] that they had pulled the appropriate permits. Later, we discovered the building permit was not issued January *, 2015. The demolition was completed by December **, 2015. The removal of debris never fully happened. At that time we made a payment when requested by WFC Inc. despite the demolition not being completed. It should also be noted here, that the hardwood floors were great condition; however, during demolition, they were not covered or protected in any way, leaving huge scratches and gashes everywhere. After that point, work completely ceased on our home. We understood the dormer portion [the new master bath] of our remodel would depend on weather, but the vast majority of the work was indoors, away from the elements, and heated. From the completion of the demolition in December until mid-February, almost no work was done on our home. We received little to no communication about what was happening with our home. After nearly two months of no work, I hit a breaking point and decided to terminate our contract. Only after I sent an email terminating the contract, did I receive communication from [redacted] apologizing for the lack of progress on our home. He pleaded for us to continue on with WFC Inc. and assured us in writing and verbally that he would be done with our project, not only by June **, 2015, but three weeks early. He also reaffirmed that we get weekly progress reports (which never happened). Over the course of February, March, and April work progressed on our home in fits and starts, at times, it seemed that [redacted] might be able to keep his promise; however, the quality of the work was sloppy and almost every day we had to ask Sabato to address issues. However, during mid-April we hit another period of slow down. On May [redacted], [redacted] assured us that he would start having workers there seven days a week until the project was finished. Note, there was only four weeks till the end of the contract, and there has been no finish work, all three bathrooms were completely bare, as was the kitchen, the roof and siding weren’t repaired, the floors weren’t touched. Electrical, HVAC and plumbing were all a huge mess.

On Saturday, May **, 2015, we came to the house and discovered that there was no one working at the house. I texted immediately to inquire why, and I was informed us that he had given his men the weekend off. I reminded him again that we were three weeks away from moving in and there were no bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, May [redacted], we returned to our home to find [redacted]’s men there. They took all of their scaffolding, tools, and equipment, leaving the garage full of debris. Based on this action, we assumed he abandoned the worksite.

Since terminating the building contract with WFC, we have had two licensed contractors, the Town of Greenburgh Building inspectors, & a licensed electrician come to the house to take stock of the work performed. All the professionals confirmed that the work was haphazard, sloppy, even dangerous, and, in cases, out of compliance with building code. The sentiments of every professional was shock and disbelief of the level of unprofessional work.Desired Settlement: Refund of 85,000 we paid WFC Construction, and/or, any amount lesser for which there are receipts for materials or supplies purchased, architectural drawings we paid for, return of all personal items taken from the house, and reimbursement of July rental in the amount of 3200.
